As Henry slowly regained consciousness, the first thing he noticed was the pheromones.
By now, he was used to Edwin’s pheromones, and they overwhelmed all his other senses.
Edwin’s pheromones varied depending on his mood—sometimes sharp like thorns, other times warm and enveloping like a mother’s embrace.
And now, they relaxed his body completely, dissolving all tension.
Henry felt Edwin’s pheromones clinging to him and suddenly remembered the events of the previous night.
As he blinked open his eyes, sore and swollen from crying, he sat up.
The blanket that had covered his body slid down, and the cold air hit his bare skin, though instead of feeling cold, it was more refreshing.
The fever that had threatened to burn him alive all night was gone, replaced by a refreshing lightness.
Outside the window, the trees swayed in the breeze, welcoming him.
Overnight, Henry had become a full-fledged Omega, but the trees remained just as vibrant as before, as if nothing had changed.
It was as if, even though he was now an Omega, Henry was still just Henry.
Rubbing his sore arm, Henry turned his head at the sound of the door opening.
Edwin paused for a moment when he saw that Henry was awake, then walked in.
“I didn’t expected you to be crying.”
Edwin greeted him with water, and Henry responded curtly.
“I cried so much, there are no tears left.”
Though Henry knew perfectly well why Edwin had said that, he pretended not to understand.
After drinking all the water, Henry handed him the empty glass and started rubbing his arm again.
“What’s wrong?”
“My arm’s sore. My back too. Sleeping in such a cramped, hard place, my whole body hurts.”
Henry massaged his shoulder like an old man, his words earning a bemused look from Edwin.
Of course, a carriage couldn’t be as comfortable as a bed, but there was clearly another reason for Henry’s discomfort.
“Want me to massage you?”
Henry, who had been rolling his head around, froze at Edwin’s offer.
He was still naked under the blanket.
Though embarrassed, he tried to act unbothered, thinking Edwin had already seen everything anyway, so there was no point in making a fuss.
But now, Edwin was offering to give him a massage.
“Give me my clothes first.”
Realizing he could no longer hide under the blanket, Henry admitted his flustered state.
When Edwin handed over the neatly folded clothes from the side, Henry accepted them with a hint of pride, his eyes narrowing as if he had something to prove.
“Turn around, will you?”
Just because he had spent the night with Edwin didn’t mean Henry’s tone had softened.
In fact, he was more curt and rebellious than ever.
“Don’t try to put your arm through the pants leg by mistake. Take your time.”
“Mind your own business.”
After confirming Edwin had turned around, Henry quickly got dressed.
There weren’t many pieces, and they were easy to slip on even while sitting down.
Though he hesitated briefly as he lifted his hips, it wasn’t anything he couldn’t handle.
Fully dressed, Henry gave Edwin a nudge on the shoulder—a signal that it was safe to turn around.
Edwin took the hint and faced him.
“Sit across from me. We need to talk.”
Henry’s demeanor shifted from their earlier banter to something more serious.
Edwin, following Henry’s instruction, sat across from him.
Watching Edwin, who now obediently did what he was told—from bringing him water to listening quietly—Henry first suppressed a deep sigh.
When he woke up, there had been no moment of panic where he screamed in shock upon recalling the events of the night before.
The first thought that came to mind was simply that he had slept with Edwin.
That was all.
There was no resentment, only resignation.
Because of that, he could respond to Edwin calmly.
“First, I’ll tell you what the treasure left by the Grand Wizard really is.”
Henry began with what they hadn’t discussed the previous night.
He explained that the treasure truly existed, that there were two paths—one to the entrance and another leading to the cave where they had been separated.
“And that’s how I was able to get the treasure first. Here’s the letter he left behind. Well, I guess it’s more of a will.”
Henry brought over a box left to the side and handed Edwin a letter.
While Edwin read, Henry searched every corner of the carriage.
After yesterday’s commotion, where Edwin nearly caught him, Henry had lost the pheromone stone.
He thought it must have fallen somewhere in the carriage, but it wasn’t visible.
“He must’ve had an incomplete bond as well.”
“How could it be complete if their hearts weren’t aligned?”
Henry paused his search for the pheromone stone and made eye contact with Edwin.
“The Woneum tree supports the body to prevent it from going into shock when all its pheromones are released. That’s why I was here, draining my pheromones. After that, I planned to absorb the energy from the pheromone stone… and that’s when you showed up.”
Edwin nodded slightly, and Henry couldn’t help but notice how much calmer he seemed than usual.
It was just a personal impression, so Henry didn’t mention it.
“You discovered I’m an omega, you saw that we had an incomplete bond, and then I went into heat.”
And we consummated our bond.
Henry listed the events from yesterday, counting them on his fingers, and nodded as if amused by it all.
“This wasn’t part of my plan at all, but going into heat wasn’t because of you.”
It was purely an accident.
Edwin hadn’t intended to trigger Henry’s heat; it just seemed that their pheromones reacted to each other, causing the cycle.
Given his previous experience, Edwin had remained relatively calm despite what had happened.
Whether that was a good thing or not, Henry couldn’t say.
“Now, about what’s next…”
Henry stopped mid-sentence and sighed.
“We’ll find the pheromone stone and try to sever our bond. But I can’t guarantee anything. Even the Grand Wizard only created it, but never actually used it, so I don’t know if it’ll work.”
That uncertainty was the only thing that made Henry uneasy.
“But it’s the only hope we have. Do you understand what I’m saying? Since it’s come to this, I’d appreciate it if you could help me.”
He had decided to move past yesterday’s events, seeing them as something that simply happened.
Honestly, if Edwin had turned his back and left, Henry would likely still be in unbearable agony.
But now, Henry felt lighter, physically and emotionally, more so than ever before.
It even seemed to affect his mood in a positive way.
“First, let’s find the pheromone stone.”
Henry began by searching the spot where Edwin had forcibly dragged him earlier.
The stone wasn’t large, more like a smooth pebble, so it might have rolled somewhere.
Still unable to find anything resembling the pheromone stone, Henry threw off the blanket that had covered him and stood up.
“Huh?”
Henry, who had thought he was fine when dressing earlier, showed a brief reaction of confusion before his legs gave way, and he collapsed forward.
He hadn’t anticipated that his legs would be so weak when standing.
His fall was only stopped when Edwin, sitting across from him, reached out to catch him.
Edwin didn’t just stop there—he pulled Henry into his lap entirely.
“…Thanks for catching me.”
Despite feeling awkward in this strange position, Henry made sure to express his gratitude.
When he tried to get up again, Edwin’s arm firmly held him in place by the waist.
“There’s no need to overexert yourself.”
“But it’s important, and I won’t feel at ease if we don’t find it.”
Henry shook his head, clearly wanting to find the pheromone stone as soon as possible.
Just as he was about to turn away, something caught his eye.
“You…”
Henry saw the pheromone stone in Edwin’s hand and suddenly understood why he had said there was no need to search.
Edwin had already found it and picked it up.
“Thanks for finding it.”
“Your manners have improved.”
Henry reached out for the pheromone stone and retorted to Edwin’s teasing.
“I’m not stingy with my gratitude. Hand over the pheromone stone. I’ll hold onto it.”
“I never said I’d give it to you.”
Edwin avoided Henry’s hand and tightened his grip on the stone.
