Season 3 of “Romance Diary” had begun airing.
Gong Yoochan was watching the live broadcast on the living room TV.
As usual, Cha Joobin was out.
Whatever was keeping him busy, he hadn’t shown up all day, so Yoochan assumed he’d probably get feedback on the show through the company.
The show was well put together.
The interviews inserted here and there added some spice to the mundane daily life scenes, which fit perfectly with what people wanted to see.
Unsurprisingly, the response was overwhelmingly positive.
As Yoochan watched the screen, he also kept an eye on people’s real-time reactions.
Normally, he would stay far away from social media reactions, but today, he couldn’t resist checking them.
After all, their names had already been brought up once.
Looking back, it was something that could have been brushed off lightly, but because it hit close to home, Yoochan couldn’t stop himself from checking people’s reactions.

How can something so simple be so entertaining?]
Anon11 They sleep together like a married couple.
Anon42 If you’re handsome, can you fry an egg well? Look at that pretty egg.
Anon97 The way he keeps talking about scrambled eggs, it’s hilarious.
└ Anon101 Seriously, it’s so cute.
└ Anon124 Gong Yoochan’s totally into eggs, huh?
└ Anon144 Really? Looks like an egg himself…
Anon152 The way they check each other’s schedules is too much—like real professionals, but they are professionals.
└ Anon153 They really are.
└ Anon166 But I get why it’s so appealing, though.
Anon184 Is it okay for me to watch this? Feels like I’m sneaking a peek at something.
└ Anon190 You’re right… feels like we’re seeing something we shouldn’t.
Anon289 The way Cha Joobin lies flat on the couch—seriously, everyone’s the same. That’s me on the weekend.
└ Anon300 Exactly.
Anon523 Why are they so clingy with each other? Cha Joobin doesn’t look like the type, but he’s totally acting like a younger boyfriend.
└ Anon533 What about Gong Yoochan who’s always hugging him?
└ Anon569 The way he curls up—it’s just so cute… Seriously.
└ Anon588 They seem so familiar with each other… obviously, but still.
Anon759 They’re definitely dating for real…
└ Anon772 Yeah, 100% legit.
└ Anon891 The haters must be losing their minds right now.
Anon1024 Can they just reveal the script like that? Is it okay for this to be shown? Has the article about Cha Joobin’s next project been released yet?
└ Anon1125 I’m sure they’ll handle it.
└ Anon1156 Calm down.
└ Anon1190 I bet they did it without a word.
└ Anon1252 The article’s out, confirmed for a romance role.
Anon1257 Cha Joobin looks like a complete alpha when he’s alone, but next to Gong Yoochan, he’s totally like a baby alpha.
└ Anon1258 Baby alpha, I’m done. So cute.
└ Anon1323 Our baby just loves his big brother.
Anon1422: But why is this show making such a fuss when others with similar ratings never did? If top actors are involved and the ratings aren’t good, that’s what’s really strange, haha.
└ Anon1432: Oh, you’re finally here, welcome!
└ Anon1667: I was wondering why it was so quiet.
Anon1825: It’s about time someone posted a comment saying they’re desperately trying to hide their breakup (+ someone take a screenshot of that, please).
└ Anon1829: Get ready, there’s one right below, haha.
└ Anon1843: It’s already up.
Anon1826: They’re really trying hard to hide the breakup, haha. Does it make sense to ask each other what they’re eating every morning because they don’t know? Haven’t they been living together forever?
└ Anon1833: Just live like that…
└ Anon1857: What’s really their problem?
└ Anon1899: Seriously, what’s the issue?
Anon2133: Even though there’s nothing between them, they look good together on screen; it’s entertaining to watch.
Anon2235: But it was a bit boring. I hope the next episode is more interesting. Yoochan should visit Joobin on set… Just my wish.
└ Anon2247: Agreed.
└ Anon2259: Seconded.
Fortunately, the public’s reaction didn’t seem too bad.
Only then did Gong Yoochan let out a sigh of relief and sank into the sofa.
With the situation calming down, a comforting sense of relief filled his chest.
He casually put his phone down and leaned back, rolling his stiff neck until it cracked.
His gaze returned to the screen.
Watching their performance, he had to admit they really looked like a loving couple who adored each other.
Seeing themselves through the eyes of others was a strange experience.
Joobin, who had been quietly watching him, felt the sofa vibrate as he grabbed his phone again.
CEO:
Did you all watch the broadcast?
You two really look like you’re getting along, haha.
It was a group chat that CEO Jang Giyoung had set up with Cha Joobin.
The managers were also in the chat, but the CEO’s message made Yoochan frown.
He hadn’t even told the managers the truth yet—was the CEO serious, or just teasing him?
CEO:
But seriously, why did you two fight in the first place, haha?
Or maybe the CEO didn’t actually believe they had broken up. H
is later messages carried an undertone of genuine concern.
Yoochan just stared at the screen, eyes narrowed.
Soon, the managers and Joobin had also read the messages.
CEO:
Both of you, drop by the office~
Let’s discuss the next shoot.
It made sense—some time had passed since the last shoot, and the next one was just around the corner, so they needed a meeting about the concept.
“Hmm…”
Yoochan hummed as he tapped the screen.
It was clear Joobin had seen the message too, but he hadn’t responded, making Yoochan hesitant to agree.
What would Joobin say?
Did he even watch the broadcast?
In the past, Yoochan would have been sure Joobin had watched it, but lately, with Joobin’s distant attitude, Yoochan wasn’t so sure anymore.
Joobin: Sure.
The response was curt, revealing nothing.
Yoochan slowly blinked, then asked, “When should I come by?” After sending the message, he closed his phone and got ready to leave.
If Joobin was free, maybe they could grab a meal together.
“Oh, you’re here? Take a seat.”
Yoochan gave a half-hearted nod as he greeted Jang Giyoung.
Joobin was already seated in the CEO’s office.
On the table was the script, which had already progressed to episode four, even though just a few days ago they were on episode three.
Joobin, with his sharp memory and excellent character analysis skills, was quick at memorizing scripts.
It was impressive that he was already looking at episode four while others were just finishing episode one.
“So, I see you two haven’t made up yet.”
Clearly, Jang Giyoung didn’t take their breakup seriously.
Even though time had passed, his talk of reconciliation felt too exhausting to respond to.
Yoochan silently dropped into the seat next to Joobin. Joobin didn’t react either.
A loud clap suddenly broke the silence.
Joobin, who had been staring off into space, looked up at the CEO.
“Joobin, your first shoot is starting soon, right?”
“Already?”
Yoochan asked in surprise.
Hadn’t they just received the script?
Joobin gave him a sideways glance as if to say, “You didn’t know?”
“What? Yoochan, you didn’t know? Joobin, even if you’re living together, you should tell him these things.”
“Why should I?”
Jang Giyoung gave Joobin a look before explaining to Yoochan, “After Joobin was cast, they quickly found his co-star. The set was already built, and the staff were ready, so things moved fast.”
“Wow, that’s really quick. Did you already have the script reading?”
“I told you I had a busy schedule.”
Yoochan awkwardly scratched his cheek, realizing he had misunderstood Joobin’s schedule.
Jang Giyoung clicked his tongue.
“Still, Yoochan, you were too out of the loop.”
“Me?”
“There was a lot of buzz when Joobin was cast. Didn’t you check it out?”
“Oh…”
Indeed.
In the past, Yoochan would have been all over Joobin’s news, but Joobin’s cold demeanor lately had made him back off.
Maybe he had distanced himself on purpose because Joobin had made it clear he didn’t want to talk about it.
Yoochan glanced at Joobin.
Their eyes met briefly before Joobin quickly looked away, his lower lip caught between his teeth.
He looked hurt.
Though he hadn’t done anything wrong, guilt began to creep up from Yoochan’s chest.
He felt like apologizing, even though he had no reason to.
“Sorry, I didn’t pay enough attention.”
Yoochan decided it was better to apologize. Joobin’s response was just a small nod.
Jang Giyoung watched the two with interest.
He was certain they wouldn’t break up—he’d bet a billion on it.
Of course, there was no one to take the bet.
“Anyway, I was thinking for the next episode, how about we have Joobin visit the set?”
“Sounds good.”
“What about you, Joobin? You two used to visit each other on set all the time. It wouldn’t be weird.”
Jang Giyoung was sure Yoochan would agree, and he looked at Joobin for confirmation.
After a brief glance at Yoochan, Joobin raised an eyebrow slightly.
“Who’s stopping us?”
“Right, no one said you couldn’t. I was just making sure. I’ll arrange it with the crew then.”
“Okay.”
Yoochan knew it wouldn’t take long, but he hadn’t expected the conversation to end so quickly.
He wondered why they had been called to the office at all.
Joobin, on the other hand, seemed ready to leave the moment the conversation ended.
It looked like he had no plans to go home tonight.
“Cha Joobin.”
So Yoochan stopped him.
Joobin turned to look at him without a word.
“It’s been a while since we’ve seen each other. How about we grab a meal together?”
Was it an unexpected offer? Joobin’s eyes rolled slightly upward.
“I was planning to go home tonight.”
It was a response that suggested there was no need to eat out.
However, rather than forcing someone who’s clearly exhausted to eat at home, it seemed much better to grab something outside.
“I’m too tired to cook at home, and I won’t force you into a conversation, so let’s just eat out.”
Gong Yoochan lightly spoke as he tapped Cha Joobin’s firm chest.
