I am not a Yandere chapter 24

* * *

“Classic literature? Are you saying Choa reads stuff like that?”

Seonwoo’s suspicion remained as he stared at Yeongdeok with disbelief.

He took a step closer to him, accidentally kicking one of the books that had fallen from Choa’s hands earlier.

Feeling something hard against his foot, Seonwoo bent down slowly and picked up a book.

At that moment, Choa’s eyes shook as if caught in a violent earthquake.

“What’s this, Cha Dowon? Do you actually read these kinds of books? And so many of them?”

“Actually, those books are all—”

Before Yeongdeok could deny it, Choa tugged at his arm again.

Was this another hint to keep quiet?

How bothersome.

With a sigh in his mind, Yeongdeok snatched the book back from Seonwoo’s hand.

“Even these low-level books have their charm once you give them a try. And, my name isn’t Cha Dowon anymore; it’s Cha Yeongdeok. I changed it.”

“Cha Yeongdeok? Are you serious?”

Seonwoo’s eyes widened, and for a brief moment, he stood frozen, shocked at the newly familiar name.

Yeongdeok, too tired to argue, just nodded.

“Let’s go, Oppa. I’ve already called the driver! Yeongdeok Chicken, I’ll see you next time!”

“Wait. I still have more to talk about with Cha Dowon—”

Before Seonwoo could finish, Choa grabbed his arm and pulled him away.

He glanced back at Yeongdeok, unwilling to leave, but eventually gave in to his sister’s insistence.

Watching the two siblings disappear into the crowd, Yeongdeok clicked his tongue in frustration, realizing that Choa had left her books scattered all over the floor.

“What am I supposed to do with all this?”

Debating whether to just leave the books behind as if they had nothing to do with him, Yeongdeok ultimately bent down and began gathering them up into the shopping bag.

Where else could you find such a considerate yet obsessive person?

Gritting his teeth inwardly, he took the books with him as he left.

“Oppa, why are you here? You didn’t follow me, did you?”

“How about you be honest with me first? What’s going on between you and Cha Dowon? Did you really meet through some online cafe?”

“It’s not Cha Dowon anymore; it’s Cha Yeongdeok! And yes, we met through an online cafe. A classic… literature cafe.”

As the word “classic literature” rolled awkwardly off her tongue, Choa felt a pang of guilt for lying.

While they were talking, the driver Choa had called arrived.

As Seonwoo got into the back seat, he mulled over what Choa had said, but something still didn’t add up.

“There’s no way someone like Cha Dowon would join a cafe like that.”

“What do you know? And why are you so curious? Do you know Yeongdeok oppa?”

“Yeongdeok oppa?”

The word “oppa” that came out of Choa’s mouth hit Seonwoo like a slap.

He smacked his forehead in disbelief.

“Choa, how many times have I told you? Any man five years older than you is either an ahjussi or an uncle.”

“I don’t remember. Did you say that?”

“I’ve said it so many times! So, what do you call someone who’s thirteen years older?”

Seonwoo looked at his sister expectantly, waiting for her to say “ahjussi.”

But after thinking it over, Choa smiled and said,

“Well, Yeongdeok Chicken is still oppa. Bluebird says that if someone’s handsome, it doesn’t matter how old they are—they’re oppa.”

“Who says stuff like that? An ahjussi is still an ahjussi. There are no exceptions.”

“But he’s the same age as you, so wouldn’t it be weird to call only him ahjussi? Should I call you ahjussi too then?”

“Forget it. I’m done talking.”

Fed up with his sister’s stubbornness, Seonwoo turned to stare out the window.

“Do you not get along with Yeongdeok oppa?”

“No. We don’t. At all.”

“Why? I wish you two would get along.”

“Me? With him? No way. Do you like him or something?”

Choa thought back to her time with Yeongdeok earlier and remembered what had happened the day before.

‘How could anyone say something like that? I can’t forgive someone for talking about the writer PetitRolang like that in a BL novel group!’

Others nodded in agreement, but Choa had defended him.

‘Yeongdeok Chicken didn’t mean it like that, I’m sure of it.’

She had passionately persuaded the group, convincing them to accept Yeongdeok’s apology.

The reason Choa had worked so hard to bring Yeongdeok back into the group was simple.

“Yes. Yeongdeok oppa… he looks exactly like my favorite character.”

From the moment she first saw him, Choa thought Yeongdeok looked exactly like her favorite character, Roymond.

If Yeongdeok just changed his hairstyle a little, he’d be like Roymond’s twin.

Listening to his sister’s dreamy voice, Seonwoo bit his lip in frustration.

“That classic literature cafe… How do I join it?”

“Why do you want to join my cafe?”

“I can’t stand the thought of you and Cha Dowon—no, Cha Yeongdeok—hanging out. How can a 15-year-old and a 28-year-old spend time together?”

“We’re not alone. Other people are with us too.”

“It doesn’t matter. If you don’t tell me, I’ll tell Dad everything.”

“That’s so cheap!”

Their father, Baek Cheongang, would never approve of any kind of SNS activity, even if it were for a classic literature cafe.

And if he found out it was actually a BL novel cafe…

Ugh, Choa regretted letting her brother find out.

“Fine, but I’m not telling you the cafe name. I’ll only invite you to the open chat room.”

[Rose: Everyone, I’m sorry ㅠㅠ, but I had no choice but to invite my brother to the open chat. Can we pretend this is a classic literature study group?]

[Gwakdupal: Classic literature all of a sudden? I only remember the basics from school.]

[DaerimdongFist: Same…]

Riding the bus, Yeongdeok saw the messages pop up in the group chat and sent his own.

[Yeongdeok Chicken: Rose, what should I do with the books you left behind?]

[Rose: Oh, I’m so sorry, Yeongdeok Chicken ㅠㅠ. You can keep a few and give the rest to someone else or just toss them.]

Yeongdeok glanced at the shopping bag that was getting heavy, wondering who he could possibly give them to.

Seo Jihoon?

Just then, another message came through.

[Rose: Please, just help me out! I’ll create a separate group chat for the cafe soon ㅠㅠ.]

[Natsuyama Soseki: Rose, pretending to be a classic literature cafe is a bit much…]

Seonwoo has entered the chat.

Natsuyama Soseki showed reluctance, but before long, someone named Seonwoo joined the chat.

[Seonwoo: Hi, I’m Seonwoo~ I don’t know much about classic literature, but I’m excited to learn! Please take care of me ^^.]

[Gwakdupal: Oh! Hello! Please take care of me, Seonwoo-nim, haha]

[Sausage: Please take care of meee…]

[DaerimdongFist: Hey, why did Soseki suddenly turn into Sausage?]

[Sausage: I felt like I needed a name that suited classic literature…]

[DaerimdongFist: I don’t think “Sausage” fits classic literature, though.]

[Earth Destruction: Hello, Seonwoo-nim.]

Yeongdeok stared at the name “Seonwoo” that had appeared in the chatroom.

At that moment, Seonwoo, targeting Yeongdeok, spoke up.

[Seonwoo: You’re not going to greet the new member, Yeongdeok Chicken? You’re being pretty stingy.]

[What’s with this nonsense about classic literature?]

Yeongdeok typed that out but deleted it, replacing it with something else.

[Sup.]

[Seonwoo: Yeongdeok Chicken knows how to say “sup”? Guess living long really lets you see everything.]

[Rose: Seonwoo-nim, if you keep being sarcastic, I’ll kick you out.]

[Seonwoo: Yes, yes.]

While reading the chat, Yeongdeok arrived at his bus stop and got off.
