I am not a Yandere chapter 80

* * *

Screams erupted from all around.

Yeongdeok, chewing his popcorn, cast a sideways glance at the seat next to him.

Seonwoo, so shocked that he couldn’t even manage to scream, sat frozen, trembling with fear.

“Ahhh! Ahhhh!”

Martin screamed at the top of his lungs, leaping down the stairs he had just climbed, three steps at a time.

He retraced his steps in a desperate attempt to escape the dreadful mansion, but the door, which had easily allowed him in, was now locked tight, refusing to let him out.

“Gasp… Huff… What the—”

Meanwhile, the monster continued to chase after Martin.

With tears in his eyes, Martin frantically searched for another way out.

It was at that thrilling moment when Yeongdeok’s focus on the film started to deepen.

Suddenly, a pale hand grabbed onto Yeongdeok’s sleeve as if holding onto a lifeline.

Yeongdeok’s concentration was broken, and he shot a sideways glare at Seonwoo.

Seonwoo, his shoulders tense, was nervously biting his thumbnail.

“Baek Seonwoo.”

Yeongdeok called to him quietly, but Seonwoo, as if unable to hear anything besides the movie’s soundtrack, didn’t even glance his way.

“Baek Seonwoo.”

When Yeongdeok shook his shoulder and called his name again, Seonwoo jumped in surprise and turned to look at Yeongdeok, as if asking what was wrong.

“Could you let go, please?”

Yeongdeok pointed with his chin at his crumpled sleeve, still tightly held by Seonwoo.

“Oh… I was just playing a little prank.”

Pretending it wasn’t fear that made him grab on but rather a calculated move, Seonwoo let go of Yeongdeok’s sleeve.

He awkwardly smiled and turned his gaze back to the screen, but as soon as the monstrous creature with a face fused to a chainsaw appeared, he immediately grabbed Yeongdeok’s hand again.

As Seonwoo trembled, the vibrations traveled through their connected hands, reaching Yeongdeok’s skin.

“Baek Seon…”

“Aaah!”

Just as Yeongdeok was about to tell Seonwoo to let go again, a collective scream erupted from the audience, Seonwoo included.

The chainsaw monster had slashed the face of the creature chasing Martin vertically.

As blood sprayed everywhere, some viewers began to cry from the horrific scene, but Yeongdeok’s focus was solely on the fact that one of his hands was still occupied by Seonwoo.

How was he supposed to eat his popcorn like this?

As the protagonist Martin reached a seemingly safe spot, the tense atmosphere of the film finally eased.

Only then did Seonwoo relax a little, letting out a shallow breath and loosening his shoulders.

Suppressing his irritation, Yeongdeok asked in a restrained voice:

“Seems like you’ve come to your senses?”

Seonwoo, who had claimed he wasn’t bothered by gore films, was now the most terrified person in the theater, much to Yeongdeok’s dismay.

Seonwoo quickly let go of Yeongdeok’s hand and, as if searching for an excuse, muttered under his breath, only to realize he had nothing to say, and turned the tables on Yeongdeok.

“Mr. Cha Yeongdeok, aren’t you even a little scared with all that blood splattering around? How are you not scared?”

“Not scared at all. It’s all fiction, isn’t it?”

“Well, that’s true, but it was so realistic.”

“No matter how realistic, fiction is still fiction.”

Yeongdeok’s point that such monsters do not exist in reality was undeniable, leaving Seonwoo at a loss for words.

The movie ended with Martin failing to escape the mansion and being devoured by the monsters.

The final scene was so grotesque that Seonwoo couldn’t help but watch through squinted eyes.

Meanwhile, Yeongdeok, wide-eyed, devoured the rest of his popcorn, taking in every detail of the scene.

On their way out of the theater, tossing the empty popcorn container into the trash, Seonwoo rubbed his arms as if to shake off the chill, even though the theater wasn’t cold.

The scene they had just witnessed still haunted him.

“That was… so gruesome. I can’t believe they made a movie like that.”

Seonwoo couldn’t fathom what went through the director’s mind to create such a horrific film.

What kind of thoughts led to making a movie where the main character, Martin, gets chased down by monsters, losing body parts one by one?

With a drained voice, Seonwoo muttered that he’d never watch a gore movie again.

Yeongdeok looked at him, puzzled. How could he be scared of something so unrealistic?

The chances of such things happening in real life were zero.

“It was nothing. You’re such a coward.”

“Yeah, yeah, Mr. Cha Yeongdeok, you’re amazing.”

Realizing there was no way he could win this argument, Seonwoo gave up completely.

Even though it was lunchtime by the time they left the movie theater, Seonwoo didn’t feel like eating.

He thought that if he tried to eat now, his stomach would surely revolt. A light drink would suffice.

“I saw a cafe downstairs earlier. Want to go there?”

“With me?”

“Yes.”

“With you?”

“…Yes.”

Yeongdeok’s face showed clear signs of resistance, but Seonwoo was confident that Yeongdeok would eventually give in, just like he did before when they drank together and even helped clean up afterward, despite his initial refusal.

“I have something to talk to you about, so could you spare a little time?”

Yeongdeok checked the time. It was a bit too early to head home but not enough to really want to spend time with Seonwoo.

While he was hesitating, a chat from Choa popped into his mind.

[Rose: I don’t know what happened with my brother, but…]

[Rose: It seems to me like he doesn’t totally dislike you, even though he’s not being honest.]

[Rose: So I hope you’ll take this chance to talk to him properly.]

Today, Seonwoo’s gaze seemed unusually serious.

Letting out a sigh, Yeongdeok decided to accept his proposal.

“Just don’t waste too much of my precious time.”

“It won’t take that long.”

As soon as he got the nod from Yeongdeok, Seonwoo led the way.

Just then, a chat notification popped up on his phone.

[Baek Choa: Did you enjoy the movie?]

[You…]

Seonwoo looked at his sister’s message with a blank stare, realizing how shamelessly she was pushing him.

She even started sending him links to cafes.

[Baek Choa: (Cafe 1)]

[Baek Choa: (Cafe 2)]

[Baek Choa: (Cafe 3)]

[Baek Choa: Go to a nice cafe and have a cozy chat with Yeongdeok about the movie.]

After watching a gory movie where the protagonist was endlessly chased, what were they supposed to talk about?

Debate how the protagonist should have been eaten in the end?

Or whether the chainsaw monster was scarier than the tooth monster?

[Baek Choa: Or how about these places?]

[Baek Choa: (Cafe 4)]

[Baek Choa: (Cafe 5)]

As the stream of cafe suggestions kept coming, Seonwoo realized that his sister had truly planned this whole thing out.

[Stop sending them. I’ll figure it out.]

[(Very angry James)]

Seonwoo turned off his phone and stepped onto the escalator, heading down to the lower floor with Yeongdeok.

Since the cafe was in the same building, it didn’t take them long to reach their destination.

Once inside the cafe, the two ordered their drinks and took a seat in an empty corner.

Now alone with Yeongdeok, Seonwoo felt a strange sensation, but he didn’t have much time to dwell on it.

“Mom! Mom! Did you see that? Eskillaman totally took out that mosquito in such a cool way!”

A nearby child stomped his feet in excitement, causing quite a commotion.

And it wasn’t just that kid—everyone around them seemed to be buzzing about the movie they had just seen.

Even though they had chosen a corner seat, the noise level didn’t die down.

Seonwoo realized this wasn’t exactly the ideal place for a conversation, and he let out a self-deprecating chuckle.

He should’ve checked out at least one of the cafes that Choa had recommended.

Unaware of Seonwoo’s thoughts, Yeongdeok gazed at his strawberry latte with a satisfied look.

The pink drink, which didn’t match his usual serious demeanor at all, seemed to please him greatly.

“Is it good? I think you ordered that last time too.”

“I like the color.”

“The color?”

Seonwoo, surprised to learn that Yeongdeok liked pink, looked back and forth between the strawberry latte and Yeongdeok.
