Yeongdeok glanced down at the giant, drunken mess before him with a look of disdain.
All he wanted was to go home and rest.
[I didn’t have any fu_]
As Yeongdeok was about to type out his response, he couldn’t bring himself to finish it.
Before he could add the final character, Seonwoo, who had been leaning on him for support, suddenly pushed against him with all his weight.
The mattress dipped beneath Yeongdeok’s back, and Seonwoo’s outstretched hands landed on either side of his head, pressing into the bed.
Seonwoo loomed above him, his half-lidded, dazed eyes gazing down dreamily.
“Wow… is this a dream?”
Seonwoo murmured in a voice thick with wonder, a faint smile playing on his lips, fragile as if it might shatter at any moment.
Though Yeongdeok prided himself on his quick judgment, his mind went blank in that instant.
Every blink of his eyes seemed to make Seonwoo’s long, white lashes flutter.
“To think I’d have such a dream…”
Seonwoo’s face, seemingly on the verge of tears, distorted slightly as he reached out, brushing a hand over Yeongdeok’s temple.
The soft, graceful touch of his pale fingers against his skin felt like fabric lightly grazing it—delicate and ticklish.
But despite the setting, Yeongdeok was entirely unfazed and coldly assessed the situation before responding icily.
“Don’t touch me carelessly.”
When Yeongdeok flicked his hand away, Seonwoo laughed affectionately, as if even that felt too real.
“I always wondered what kind of expression Cha Yeongdeok would make in a moment like this. So even in this situation, you still wear that cold face…”
With a sorrowful smile, Seonwoo gently cupped Yeongdeok’s cheeks, as if cradling something fragile and precious.
As Yeongdeok watched silently, wondering what this idiot might do next, Seonwoo’s face slowly drew closer to his.
Their noses were nearly touching, and Seonwoo’s breath brushed against him.
The sharp scent of alcohol, which he thought he had grown accustomed to, faintly tickled Yeongdeok’s nose again.
Beyond the creaking sound of the cheap mattress, Yeongdeok could feel Seonwoo’s slight movements and even his heartbeat.
Soon enough, Seonwoo closed his eyes.
But Yeongdeok wasn’t the kind of person to sit idly by and watch such nonsense unfold.
Before their lips could touch, he kneed Seonwoo squarely in the stomach.
Seonwoo clutched his abdomen and trembled as he collapsed to the side.
“Ugh…”
“If you’re going to lose your mind, at least do it quietly.”
“Cha… Cha Yeongdeok…”
As Seonwoo gasped in pain and shed a few tears, Yeongdeok straightened his crumpled clothes and checked the text he was about to send Jihoon.
[Didn’t have funㅇㅎㅇ롱호ᅟᅥᆮㄱ]
[Seo Jihoon: ? What the heck happened?]
[Seo Jihoon: Hey, are you okay?]
[Seo Jihoon: Hey?]
Several missed calls from Jihoon had already come through in the brief time it took.
Glancing at the still Seonwoo on the bed, Yeongdeok left the room and immediately called Jihoon back.
The ringing didn’t last long.
“Hey, what hap—”
“Why did you call?”
At Yeongdeok’s calm question, Jihoon’s previously agitated voice softened, finding its composure.
“From the sound of your voice, it doesn’t seem like anything serious.”
Jihoon said he had been concerned because it was unlike Yeongdeok to make a typo like that.
He was about to end the call.
“Seo Jihoon.”
“What?”
“Do you have a moment?”
“At this hour? It’s past 2 a.m.”
“It won’t take long.”
There was a brief pause, as if Jihoon was considering it.
After about three seconds, he answered.
“Okay. Should I wait at home?”
“Yeah. I’ll be there soon.”
Yeongdeok left the motel, started the truck, and drove off.
While he’d been wrestling with the drunken Seonwoo, the snow had long since stopped falling.
ꔚ
Arriving in front of the house, Yeongdeok saw Jihoon waiting for him beyond the truck’s window.
He thought to himself, ‘I would have found my way inside, why is he out here?’
After parking, Yeongdeok got out of the truck, holding a chicken bouquet.
Jihoon, who had been standing a distance away, approached him.
Yeongdeok asked as he came closer.
“Why were you waiting outside?”
“I felt like I’d fall asleep if I stayed inside, so I came out to wake myself up. But you, you look…”
Jihoon, at first taken aback by Yeongdeok’s strange attire, assumed he had just returned from a bizarre party.
But then, seeing Yeongdeok’s particularly flushed cheek, as if he’d been hit, Jihoon’s face turned cold, and he grabbed Yeongdeok’s chin, pulling it closer.
“Hey, who did this to you?”
“That’s rude. What do you think you’re doing?”
Yeongdeok wondered when this guy would ever learn basic manners as Jihoon gripped his chin, but unlike the calm thoughts running through his own mind, Jihoon responded with an agitated voice that had no trace of composure.
“Who did this to you, I said?”
“My great and wonderful mother, of course.”
As the scene flashed through Yeongdeok’s mind, he laughed triumphantly.
But when he saw that Jihoon still hadn’t softened his expression, the laughter slowly faded.
“Why are you making that face?”
“I should be asking you, what’s so funny?”
“Isn’t it hilarious how that pretentious woman lost her cool and acted like a savage?”
“There’s nothing funny about it.”
Jihoon shook his head, baffled by Yeongdeok’s laughter.
In response, Yeongdeok tilted his head slightly.
“Really? That’s odd. Baek Seonwoo thought it was hilarious.”
Yeongdeok clearly remembered Seonwoo laughing so hard that he nearly fell over.
But Jihoon’s reaction was entirely different.
“If you had been there, you would’ve thought it was funny too.”
“No way. Is Baek Seonwoo out of his mind?”
“I don’t get how you don’t find it funny.”
Jihoon realized that continuing this conversation would only lead them in circles.
Their gap in understanding was too wide, as Yeongdeok’s wide eyes clearly showed he had no idea what the problem was.
Jihoon sighed deeply into the empty air and resigned himself to changing the subject.
“Whatever. Why did you want to meet at this hour?”
“I have something I want to say to you.”
“Then how about we take a quick walk, since we’re up this late?”
“I thought you couldn’t stand the cold. Yet here you are, strolling around in the dead of winter.”
Jihoon could have said something—”shut up” or “just follow me”—but instead, he walked on in silence.
Yeongdeok followed behind.
Fresh snow covered the ground around the house, and with every step they took, the snow crunched beneath their feet.
After walking aimlessly for some time, Jihoon finally gathered his thoughts and spoke quietly.
“You… the more I look at you, the more I think you’re quite different from most people.”
“What do you mean?”
“Just…”
Emotionally, you feel incredibly dry.
Jihoon muttered under his breath and shook his head as if to clear his mind, then looked straight at Yeongdeok’s face.
“So, what is it you want to say?”
In truth, Jihoon had been racking his brain while waiting, unable to guess why Yeongdeok, who was so particular about manners, had called him out at such an ungodly hour.
Among all the possible explanations he had considered, the most plausible conclusion was, ‘Did I do something so wrong that Cha Yeongdeok had to call me out at this hour?’
But looking at Yeongdeok’s expression, it didn’t seem to be the case.
Otherwise, was he about to confess that he wanted to go back to how things were before after coming home from that party?
Did he get hit… because he was hit?
Is this about quitting the company and starting a chicken restaurant—where do I get off crawling back now?
Jihoon’s mind was suddenly filled with scenes from ridiculous TV dramas.
He even imagined a faceless woman slapping Yeongdeok with kimchi, shouting, “You are a disgrace to our family!”

Hilarious 😂
seon woo stay away from charurus he’s a couple with jihoon 😤😤
Yes! Jihoon is my ult
why did seonwoo’s character suddenly collaspe? like how did he fall for yeoungdeok so quickly
My guess is that he was initially interested in Yeondeok before Eungyeol, now that Yeondeok is no longer the Tyrant obsessive CEO his interest for Yeondeok turned into affection and because YD is no longer interested in EY, SW didn’t feel the need to pay attention to EY as much.
Seonwoo has always liked him, most likely from when they were kids, but he didn’t realize until just recently that the reason he was so annoyed by Yeongdeok’s indifference is because he wants to be liked by him and he actually has feelings for him.
In the original plot he never realizes and ends up falling for Eungyeol in the end. It wasn’t a plot written by petit rollang but since they are real people living actual lives, plots not written by the author fill up themselves. The reason he’s realizing his feelings now is because in the original plot, he only falls for Eungyeol after spending a long time with him to spite Yeongdeok, but now that mc no longer seems interested in Eungyeol, he has no reason to stay by his side and thus can not love Eungyeol.
So he didn’t actually do a 180, there are just plot twists in between the lines that the author probably expected readers to figure out but will probably be explicitly stated later.
i like the interaction between jihoon and yeongdeok
