I am not a Yandere chapter 68

* * *

Annoyed by what he saw as an interruption while driving, Yeongdeok shot Seonwoo a sharp glance.

“What are you doing?”

“Does it hurt?”

“It’s nothing.”

“I’ve never seen those uptight people make such a dumb expression before. Did you see it, Cha Yeongdeok? If you did, it must have been hard to hold back your laughter.”

Yeongdeok had seen it too.

He couldn’t believe those people were capable of making such expressions.

Thinking back to their faces, he smirked.

“Did you find it funny?”

“Of course! Even Baek Cheongang, with his terrifying face, looked so dumb. Pfft…”

Seonwoo burst out laughing, clutching his stomach as he remembered his father’s dumbfounded face watching Yeongdeok’s odd behavior.

Wiping a small tear from the corner of his eye, Seonwoo continued with a voice still tinged with laughter.

“I wasn’t feeling great all day, but thanks to you, Cha Yeongdeok, today turned out to be quite amusing. It’ll probably be a day I’ll remember forever.”

“I didn’t do it for your amusement.”

“Of course not. But still…”

Seonwoo’s eyes flicked downward as he chuckled softly.

Just as the mood in the truck was growing light and pleasant, Yeongdeok abruptly swerved lanes, causing Seonwoo’s body to lurch to one side.

From behind them came the sound of someone angrily cursing at their reckless driving.

Seonwoo glanced out the window at the man flipping them off from the other lane, and then burst into laughter again.

For some reason, everything seemed funny.

“Cha Yeongdeok, if you keep driving like that, you’re going to end up dead.”

“This is the drive you wanted.”

“Who knew it would turn into a drive to the afterlife.”

But despite his joking words, Seonwoo showed no signs of fear or tension.

Instead, he relaxed his shoulders and settled back in his seat.

“Let’s just keep going. The breeze feels nice.”

“I’m not your personal chauffeur. I’d appreciate it if you stopped giving orders.”

The truck they were in roared down the road, and as they drove, snow began to fall from the sky.

Seonwoo rolled the window all the way down and stretched his hand out into the cold air.

“Look, Cha Yeongdeok. It’s snowing.”

“Indeed.”

When Yeongdeok didn’t respond with much enthusiasm, Seonwoo let out a disappointed sigh.

“Such a romantic you are.”

“When we get to the shop, I’ll have to shovel the snow first.”

“You really plan on going to the shop? It’s your rare day off; relax a little.”

Seonwoo punched a new address into the GPS, changing their route.

As the navigation recalculated, showing a path leading them away from the shop, Yeongdeok frowned at the sight of the detour.

“I’d prefer if you didn’t waste my time.”

“It’s not a waste. We’re taking a drive to clear our heads. How could it not be nice with the snow falling?”

“Don’t you know driving on snowy roads is dangerous? Do you lack common sense?”

“You’re the last person I want to hear that from, Cha Yeongdeok, considering how you drive.”

The once cheerful atmosphere between them quickly shifted, and the two started bickering, as usual.

Still, Seonwoo noticed that Yeongdeok hadn’t switched the GPS back to the original route, which he found rather surprising.

“You’re much softer than you used to be, Cha Yeongdeok.”

“Is that how it seems?”

Yeongdeok felt a quiet satisfaction at Seonwoo’s words.

If someone like Seonwoo noticed, then it must mean he had strayed far from the original character of Cha Dowon in the story.

“Only compared to before. You’ve still got a long way to go before becoming a decent person.”

“You speak as if I wasn’t human before.”

“You weren’t. No matter how much I tried to talk to you, you’d always ignore me, reading your books with that dead-fish stare.”

By now, the once small snowflakes had grown larger, and the wind had picked up.

Wondering if the cold wind was making Seonwoo talk nonsense, Yeongdeok forcibly closed the window.

“Aww, I wanted to enjoy the wind a bit longer.”

“How about I let you out here, and you can walk home? You’ll get plenty of fresh air that way.”

“You’re so cruel. You’d really leave me out here on a snowy road?”

Seonwoo gave him a look that was all wide eyes, like a puppy abandoned in the rain.

The pitiful expression made Yeongdeok think Seonwoo was as obnoxious as Wonjin, and he turned the wheel with frustration.

Seonwoo’s body lurched again, strapped in by the seatbelt, as the truck sped toward their destination.

When they arrived at the address Seonwoo had entered, it turned out to be a crowded part of the city with no place to park.

Yeongdeok stopped the truck in the middle of the road and told Seonwoo to get out, but Seonwoo just smiled and didn’t make any move to leave.

“What are you doing? I can’t leave the truck here long, so get out.”

“Cha Yeongdeok, I didn’t get to eat anything earlier. Want to have dinner together?”

His icy glare could have frozen even a tropical night, but Seonwoo wasn’t fazed. He typed the location of a restaurant into the GPS.

“Come on, you didn’t eat either, did you?”

“I’ve got this, don’t I?”

Yeongdeok nodded toward the chicken bouquet sitting beside him.

His expression was smug, as if to say, ‘You don’t even have this, do you?’

Seonwoo’s eyes twitched, but he kept pushing.

“What’s so great about cold chicken? Since you’ve already taken the time, let’s make the most of it.”

From behind came the sound of cars honking for them to move.

With no choice, Yeongdeok pressed the accelerator and followed the GPS directions to a restaurant Seonwoo had selected.

After parking, the two got out and found themselves in front of a neon-lit wine bar.

The flashing sign hurt Yeongdeok’s eyes, and he pointed firmly at the truck he had driven.

“Are you seriously telling me to drink and drive?”

“You don’t have to drink. Or call a driver service.”

Hiring a driver seemed like something a possessive lover would do.

As thoughts of all the novels he’d read ran through his head, Seonwoo led him into the bar.

The interior was dimly lit, with soft lights brightening the space. Shelves lined one wall, displaying various kinds of wine.

As they entered, the bartender polishing glasses and the patrons inside gave Yeongdeok quick glances, probably because of his eccentric outfit.

Unbothered by the stares, Yeongdeok looked around the bar, while Seonwoo, seemingly more familiar with the place, casually took a seat and handed him the menu.

“Go ahead, choose something. It was my birthday yesterday, so I’ll treat you.”

“I’m not drinking.”

“Then at least pick some snacks.”

Everything on the menu was in a foreign language, making it feel like something out of an obsessive-romance novel.

Annoyed, Yeongdeok handed the menu back to Seonwoo, telling him to order whatever he liked.

Seonwoo ordered white wine, canapés, and a variety of other dishes.

Before the food arrived, the wine came first. He poured himself a glass and looked at Yeongdeok.

“Are you sure you’re not drinking, Cha Yeongdeok?”

“I’m sure.”

After confirming once more, Seonwoo brought the glass to his lips and downed it in one go.

Yeongdeok eyed him with suspicion, wondering if he’d have to deal with this guy if he got too drunk.

“Maybe you should pace yourself.”

“Are you worried about me?”

“Not at all. But I’ll warn you now—I have no intention of cleaning up after a drunk.”

“You’d really abandon me on a winter night?”

“I don’t care if you roll around in the snow drunk. It’s none of my concern.”

“I wasn’t expecting anything from the start.”

Seonwoo let out a bitter smile as he poured more alcohol into his empty glass.

Watching the wine fill the transparent glass, dissatisfaction filled Yeongdeok’s face.

Meanwhile, the appetizers Seonwoo had ordered were served one by one on the table.

Seonwoo, with a languid expression, swirled the wine in his glass in a clockwise motion while looking at Yeongdeok.

“Cha Yeongdeok, I have something I’m curious about.”

Yeah, I figured it out a while ago but he’s definitely been interested in Yeongdeok from day 1, but being the child he was, he took himself being upset with Yeongdeok for ignoring him as his dislike for Yeongdeok instead and never realized he actually had some sort of feelings for him
