Dying like in the Original, that’s what the Omega Villain wants chapter 84

* * *

As the children devoured the meal, Remy sighed quietly and sat down as well, resigning himself to the situation.

‘But really… Why all this food? What is Rex thinking?’

The simple picnic-like meals Remy usually brought were all he could manage on his own.

But the spread Rex had prepared today was on another level—fit for a banquet, even though there were only five people.

‘What is Rex planning? Is he trying to impress me? Score points because he claims to like me?’

Ridiculous.

Absolutely unacceptable.

Rex was going too far, even going out of his way to shower care on the people around Remy.

What was he thinking?

No matter how much Remy thought about it, he couldn’t find an answer.

“Thank you, my lord!”

Oliver’s younger siblings cheerfully thanked Rex, bowing their heads.

Rex responded with a simple nod, as stoic as ever.

“Now, kids, remember what I told you—clean up after yourselves,” Rex instructed.

Oliver, as he always did after meals, encouraged his younger siblings to clear the table themselves.

Assisting his two energetic younger siblings, Oliver joined in tidying up the table.

Meanwhile, Remy stood nearby, helping begrudgingly, a displeased expression etched on his face.

Once the luxurious mahogany table was spotless, an unfamiliar figure approached them.

The siblings exchanged puzzled glances, wondering who this stranger could be.

Before anyone could voice their confusion, Rex seated himself and spoke in his distinctively cold voice.

“This is your new teacher. Starting today, you’ll be learning to write with their guidance. Understood?”

No one was more shocked by Rex’s announcement than Remy.

A teacher for writing lessons?

First, Rex had brought food, and now he intended to educate them?

Feeling this had gone too far, Remy urgently grabbed Rex’s arm.

“Rex, we need to talk.”

While the new teacher introduced himself and started chatting with the children, Rex and Remy moved a short distance away to talk.

Arriving first at a secluded spot surrounded by tall trees, Remy stopped abruptly, trying to suppress the anger bubbling inside him.

“What do you think you’re doing?” Remy’s voice was sharp with irritation.

“What do you mean?” Rex replied calmly.

“The food—I could let that slide. But bringing in a writing teacher? This is too much!”

Rex listened intently to Remy’s outburst as if committing every word to memory.

After a moment of silence, Rex finally spoke.

“I don’t see the problem.”

“What?”

“I gave food to children in need and brought a teacher to help them study. What’s wrong with that?”

“I mean… that’s…” Remy faltered, unable to find a response.

While Rex’s actions had felt wrong to him, he couldn’t pinpoint any actual fault.

‘What… what is this? It feels like I should be outraged, but…’

“Go on, tell me, Remy. What exactly did I do wrong?” Rex pressed.

“It’s not that…” Remy stammered.

“Do you think helping children in need is wrong?”

“No, of course not.”

“Then is bringing them a teacher wrong?”

“No, that’s not it either.”

“Then what is it?”

“That’s…”

Remy’s thoughts spiraled as he tried to piece together an argument.

Then it hit him—he found the issue.

“Why are you following me around?!”

That was it.

Rex wasn’t doing all this for the children; he was doing it to impress him.

“Fine! Help the kids, feed them, teach them—do whatever you want. But why, out of all the children you could have helped, did you choose the ones I care for? You’re just trying to get my attention, aren’t you?”

Out of breath, Remy glared at Rex, his chest heaving.

Despite feeling satisfied that he had finally expressed his frustrations, Rex remained as composed as ever.

Unfazed, he countered coolly.

“That’s a narrow way of thinking.”

“What?”

“You don’t understand. I was genuinely impressed by that little boy, Oliver.”

“What…?” Remy blinked, confused.

“I wanted to help because I admired him. Isn’t it presumptuous to assume otherwise?”

“I… I suppose…” Remy began to feel embarrassed.

What if Rex really had pure intentions?

Had he misjudged him?

“Look, it’s understandable. Misunderstandings happen.” Rex’s voice softened.

“Thanks… for understanding,” Remy mumbled, still flustered.

“So, it’s settled. I’ll be around to help the children regularly.”

“Wait, what?!” Remy exclaimed.

“Good,” Rex smiled. “Let’s go back. The kids are waiting.”

As they walked back to the children, Remy felt an inexplicable sense of unease.

Dismissing it as a fleeting thought, he rejoined the group, watching the teacher conduct the lesson with a structured approach far superior to his own.

Both Rex and Remy appeared content, albeit for very different reasons.

Suddenly, a raindrop fell.

“Rain?”

Remy murmured, looking up.

The sky, previously clear, was now overtaken by dark clouds.

“Everyone, get under the tent!” Remy called, ushering the children to safety.

The small, shabby tent barely had room for the three children, leaving Remy standing outside in the pouring rain.

“This is a disaster,” he muttered.

“If only we had a carriage.”

“Remy,” a voice called.

Before he could turn, a large coat covered his head.

A fresh mint scent wafted through the air as he shifted his gaze to find Rex standing close, draping his frock coat over him.

“I sent someone to fetch a carriage. Let’s wait it out here for now,” Rex said calmly.

Remy frowned.

Though he hated getting wet, accepting Rex’s help felt even worse.

“I’m fine. You don’t need to do this,” he protested.

“Don’t be stubborn. You’ll catch a cold,” Rex replied, scanning the surroundings.

He pointed to a nearby forest.

“Let’s take shelter under the trees until the carriage arrives.”

“I told you, I’m fine!” Remy snapped, but Rex was already guiding him toward the trees, his arm securely around Remy’s shoulders.

The rain poured relentlessly as they reached a large tree.

Remy crouched under its canopy, shivering from the cold.

Rex, now drenched, stood nearby, unfazed by the rain.

“Are you okay? You’re freezing,” Rex asked, his concern evident.

“Don’t… don’t worry about me,” Remy retorted, teeth chattering.

Even as he answered, Remy was trembling violently from the cold.

Rex decided he couldn’t just leave Remy like this.

Carefully, he stretched out his arms and pulled the shivering omega into his broad chest.

In Rex’s embrace, Remy’s small frame completely disappeared.

“What’s this? I told you I’m fine…”

Even as he said it, Remy found himself unable to push Rex away.

Not only was Rex’s warmth comforting, but his scent was so intoxicating that Remy simply couldn’t bring himself to resist.

Thump, thump.

The subtle rhythm of a heartbeat transmitted through their pressed chests.

Remy cautiously lifted his gaze.

Looking down at him was Rex.

His red hair, drenched in rain, clung to his face in long strands.

The eyes, known for their icy coldness, glistened softly like rain saturating the earth, and water droplets sliding down his smooth skin added an almost surreal charm.

“Ah…”

The world was steeped in rain.

The leaves, just beginning to turn brown for autumn, let the rain filter through them, showering the two entwined figures beneath.

Pitter-patter.

The sound of raindrops tapping on the leaves was as beautiful as a melody, creating the illusion that the two of them were the only ones left in the world.

“Are you feeling a little better now?”

Rex asked gently, noticing the small, delicate body in his arms had stopped trembling.

His tone was so unfamiliar that Remy found it disconcerting, yet at the same time, it felt oddly natural—like this side of Rex had always been there, waiting to be seen.

“Yes… I’m okay now.”

“Good. That’s a relief.”

Rex slowly pulled back, unwinding his arms from around Remy.

He removed the frock he had draped over Remy earlier and brushed back the damp blond strands clinging to his forehead.

Even wet, Remy’s hair slipped easily through Rex’s fingers, the silky texture leaving a subtle tickle on his fingertips.

‘This is strange. I should push him away, but… I don’t want to. I don’t understand why I feel this way.’

The minty scent lingering in the air grew more pronounced, enveloping them.

Remy briefly thought about how pleasant it would be to rest his face against Rex’s chest and simply fall asleep.

He hadn’t realized mint could smell so divine.

It only added to his confusion, leaving him unable to grasp why he was leaning into Rex so much.
