The dull graduation ceremony finally ended.
Doyoung scanned the crowd as people shuffled out.
He didn’t see Beom Sinje anywhere.
‘Did he leave?’
He supposed it was understandable if Beom Sinje was a bit offended after his cold response, even if it left him with a faint, inexplicable bitterness.
Feeling mildly annoyed with himself, Doyoung let out a small laugh and was about to leave when a shout rang out.
“Hey, there’s a fight!”
“What? Who’s fighting?”
“One of them’s Beom Sinje, but I don’t know the other two.”
“Where?”
“Parking lot at Building B!”
As soon as he heard Beom Sinje’s name, Doyoung headed straight for the parking lot of Building B.
The area was already crowded with people.
Boom!
A loud explosion sounded, sending a plume of dust and sparks flying.
“Ah!”
“What the… fighting on school grounds?”
Startled spectators cursed and quickly backed away.
“Who started it?”
“Who cares? We need to break it up!”
The dust and the throng of people made it difficult to see what was happening.
Doyoung pushed his way through the crowd, and soon he could make out Beom Sinje fighting two opponents.
Beom Sinje was as unflustered as ever, calmly taking them on.
‘What’s he doing, causing a ruckus like this?’
And on graduation day of all times.
If a fight broke out, it should be wrapped up quickly; dragging it out like this was strange.
‘What should I do?’
With a bit of intervention, Doyoung could easily defuse the situation.
This scene was familiar from the novel: graduates who disliked Beom Sinje picked a fight, only to get knocked out with one hit.
The location was odd, though. This scene was supposed to unfold outside the school.
‘Did I mess up the original story by intervening?’
Beom Sinje, as a trainee at the training academy, shouldn’t get involved in something like this.
He needed to be stopped before things escalated further.
“Trainee Beom Sinje, stop this right now!”
Too late—an instructor had appeared, likely having heard the commotion.
Yet, even now, Beom Sinje paid no mind, solely focused on overpowering his opponents, eventually grabbing both by the collar, one in each hand.
“Wow…”
“He lifted those guys so easily.”
Gasps of awe spread through the crowd.
‘He really does look like a predator with his prey.’
Just as Doyoung thought that, his and Beom Sinje’s gazes met again in the air.
“Huh? Is he coming over here?”
Someone spoke with a questioning tone, seemingly confused.
True to their curiosity, Beom Shinje was moving towards Doyoung’s direction, carrying some graduates in his arms.
“Apologize.”
Beom Shinje stopped in front of Doyoung and unceremoniously dropped the graduates onto the ground, demanding an apology.
Doyoung raised an eyebrow.
Apologize?
“Hurry up.”
Under repeated pressure, the one held by his collar finally yelled out.
“Damn it! What? Did I say anything wrong? It’s true that he’s always cleaning up your mess!”
Then, he spat out some vulgar insults that would make anyone cringe.
“I saw you two sneaking into the school cafeteria!”
Doyoung casually scratched his neck with his finger.
It seemed that he was indeed the root cause of this commotion.
And it just had to be when they were seen eating samgyetang at the school cafeteria.
“Enough, all of you!”
The instructors who had been watching the situation quickly separated the graduates and Beom Shinje, then signaled to Doyoung to follow them.
‘Sigh… So it comes to this after all.’
Doyoung chuckled hollowly.
Later, following Beom Shinje—the villain Doyoung had played sidekick to—would cause him great trouble.
The national agency began to suspect that Beom Shinje might be connected to the Antithesis, and public scrutiny soon followed.
‘I tried hard to spare him from going through such hardship to prove his innocence.’
It seemed that he couldn’t completely escape the original storyline.
‘In that case, perhaps I can play a bit of the bad guy role here?’
After all, graduation was near, and soon, he would fully embrace his role as the leader of Antithesis.
And he could use this chance to deal with those bothersome, useless idiots.
“Well, let’s hear your explanation,” one instructor asked with a commanding tone.
“It was nothing serious.”
Beom Shinje cut in just as Doyoung was about to speak.
The curt, unfriendly response made the instructors’ expressions stiffen, so Doyoung quickly chimed in.
“It really isn’t a big deal, Instructor.”
He added, casting a pointed look at the two who had been picking a fight.
“Those guys have been acting obnoxiously for a while, so I just had a few words for them.”
A silence fell between them momentarily.
Then, as they processed Doyoung’s words, the two graduates began to bark complaints.
“So, there’s no need for you to get involved. After all, I’m no longer part of the school.”
The instructors looked momentarily flustered by his smooth yet sharp retort.
They hadn’t yet adapted to the changed demeanor of the usually quiet and unobtrusive Doyoung.
Eventually, they collected themselves.
“But we cannot overlook the fact that the trainee used violence.”
“He was only caught up in the moment. This incident has nothing to do with him.”
Beom Shinje seemed slightly displeased with this remark, but Doyoung ignored it.
‘This is all for your sake.’
So he didn’t even glance at him.
“If you’re looking for compensation, you should take it up with me.”
The instructors exchanged quick looks.
Rumors had circulated even among them that Doyoung was the hidden son of a powerful conglomerate family.
Given that he was offering to settle things and even provide compensation, they had no reason to refuse.
“You’ll be stepping into society as a Hunter representing the country soon. Reckless actions like this should not continue.”
Finally, the instructors delivered a closing statement that didn’t quite feel like a lecture and indicated they were ready to leave.
“Trainee Beom Shinje, you will come with us.”
Though Beom Shinje seemed reluctant to leave, he had no choice but to comply as the instructors insisted firmly.
With only three of them left, Doyoung turned to the graduates glaring at him as though they wanted to rip him apart, smiling faintly.
“Well then, how should we deal with you useless fools who are of no help to anyone?”
◇◆◇◆◇
In the two years since graduation, Doyoung had kept himself incredibly busy.
He blackmailed the national agency, roamed various dungeons to generate steady profits, and even pushed the sale of a new drug.
The drug, designed to alleviate the aftereffects for espers who had used their powers, sparked massive demand, filling Doyoung’s coffers with wealth.
Today, he had just returned after a trip to Ushuaia, Argentina, where he successfully cleared a dungeon.
‘It was a bit of a hassle, even for an S-class esper, but I got what I wanted, so it wasn’t bad.’
His smile hadn’t left his face even after the ordeal.
Only after he was seated in his car did he realize his arrival at the airport had been recorded and posted online in real-time.
[Guess Antithesis recruits members based on visuals♥_♥ Everyone there just shines like crazy~~~
└How can you see his face when he’s wearing a mask???
└Just look at that physique and style, duh (⊙ˍ⊙)?? Definitely hot~~~
└So what? He’s still a terrorist.]
After seeing the anonymous community post, Doyoung glanced over his outfit.
His black suit looked quite decent, even by his own standards.
‘Guess I do have a pretty good appearance.’
Not that it mattered since he wore a mask and had no plans to reveal his face.
Nonetheless, he hadn’t neglected keeping up with news about Beom Shinje and Yeo Giwon, even with his busy schedule.
The rumors he heard were quite peculiar.
“It’s strange. How did Beom Shinje end up like this?”
The once diligent and exemplary protagonist seemed to be going through some sort of rebellious phase, stirring up all kinds of trouble.
“He completely destroyed a dungeon? Wow…”
Apparently, during his short absence abroad, a dungeon Beom Shinje and Yeo Giwon tackled as part of a class project was completely cleared.
It wasn’t something in the original storyline.
Doyoung had no idea what trick they had pulled, but it seemed the school was now in complete chaos.
‘Of course, who else could it be but the protagonist.’
Unable to curb his curiosity, Doyoung accessed the school’s anonymous forum.
Since he was already graduated, he had bought an account from a current student.
As expected, the forum was flooded with posts about the dungeon destruction, Beom Shinje’s heroics, and the disciplinary committee meeting.
“A disciplinary committee?”
The words caught Doyoung’s attention, making his eyebrow raise slightly.
‘Says who.’
If a trainee cleared a dungeon, they should be praised, not reprimanded.
“This is why the school is a problem.”
Sticking rigidly to predetermined rules only produced conformists, not people of individuality.
[The disciplinary committee meeting is set for 6 PM.]
