Sole Omega in an Alpha Family chapter 7

* * *

“Ah, I know! I was just, you know, exploring. I was curious about your room, Jungwoo!”

Though he knew better, the constant pestering from Jungseo had thrown off his sense of direction.

Jungin, with an embarrassed look, added a quick explanation as Jungwoo fixed his gaze on him, smirking mischievously.

“Really? Were you that curious about my room, Jungin?”

‘This isn’t what I meant…’

All this time, I had considered Jungwoo, the second eldest, the most normal.

But looking at him now, it didn’t seem like his mental state was all that stable either.

“Yes, let’s go. I bought a lot of chocolate and star candy that you like, Jungin.”

Jungwoo suddenly lifted him up like he was being kidnapped, and Jungin’s feet shot up into the air.

Startled by the fear of falling, he wrapped his arms around Jungwoo’s neck.

Jungwoo, who was clearly pleased by this, let out a burst of laughter, his face beaming with joy.

“Phew…”

After more than an hour of being tormented by his brothers in unexpected ways, Jungin finally got some time to himself.

He collapsed onto the bed with a tired expression and let out a deep sigh.

They’re supposed to be a global conglomerate.

They’re supposed to be incredibly busy.

So why do they spend all day bothering me?

And yet, this Lee Jungin… I had heard he wasn’t on good terms with his family, but that wasn’t the case at all.

His brothers, who clearly cherished him, were constantly worried about his every move, as if he might break or fly away.

“What on earth is going on…”

Jungin pressed his aching temples and stood up abruptly.

He had no idea when Lee Jungin would wake up, and continuing to lie was becoming more difficult.

Soon, he would have to attend school as well, and at this rate, it was only a matter of time before he was found out.

“I need to figure something out…”

After the car accident, his phone either broke or got lost, so he needed a laptop or tablet.

Jungin looked around the room and his eyes sparkled when he spotted a familiar laptop.

He quickly sat at the desk and pressed the power button, only to be met with a password lock.

He bit his lip.

“Password…”

On a whim, he tried entering Lee Jungin’s birthday, but the lock didn’t budge.

‘How am I supposed to know…’

Grabbing his head in frustration, he kept hitting the enter key mindlessly.

Suddenly, with a ‘ding’, the lock screen disappeared.

“What the…”

He was startled for a moment, but as he moved the mouse to access the internet, Jungin blinked rapidly at a familiar symbol in a file at the bottom of the desktop.

To anyone else, it would have looked like random gibberish, but it was a special code that only he and Lee Jungin had made.

It was something they used during class to communicate while avoiding the teachers’ eyes.

As Jungin slowly decoded it, he murmured.

“Choi… Jungin, take a look…?”

Choi Jungin.

That was him, but why did Lee Jungin leave something like this?

Suddenly, his heart began to pound anxiously, and he moved the cursor to click on the file.

[This body is yours, Choi Jungin.]

The words at the top of the note inside the file made Jungin’s breath catch in his throat.

He had joked about this before.

Lee Jungin had once told him he was jealous of how free Jungin was without a family, and in return, Jungin had said he was envious of Lee Jungin’s wealth and many brothers.

At the time, Lee Jungin had asked with a surprisingly serious expression if Jungin would switch bodies with him if the opportunity arose.

[Of course! Becoming the youngest son of a conglomerate family would be a huge win for me. You can’t take that back later, okay?]

Yeah… I had definitely said that.

But how…?

He wasn’t a magician or a wizard—how could he switch bodies just because he wanted to?

With a confused look, Jungin scrolled down quickly to check the rest of the message Lee Jungin had left.

[The card’s password is 0411. I changed it to your birthday. And I’m sorry.]

What a crazy bastard.

That was all he could say after reading the file.

‘Seriously… You call this switching? Who switches bodies like this?!’

It had been a week since Jungin found himself in Lee Jungin’s body.

Only now did he realize his friend had stolen his own body.

“Who did this?!”

The moment Jungin woke up, he saw a cartoonish ‘Catch the Ping’ band-aid stuck on his elbow and yelled.

He had explicitly warned them not to stick things like that on him, yet here he was, waking up with a child’s band-aid plastered on him.

It had already been two weeks since he was discharged from the hospital, and by now, Jungin had somewhat adjusted to living as Lee Jungin.

His original body was slowly recovering too, so he was just waiting for that guy to wake up.

However, there was one thing he still couldn’t get used to: the way his three older brothers treated him.

On the first day when he realized his body had changed, he tried acting tough, but they just found it cute.

No matter how much he pushed, their behavior only became more over-the-top, and eventually, he gave up trying.

‘Weren’t they supposed to not get along?’

Is it because they think Jungin came back from the dead? ‘Why are they treating me so well? This is getting ridiculous…’

“Whoever did this better confess now! Who was it this time?”

Jungin stomped down the stairs to the first floor, and there on the living room sofa sat the three brothers.

“Our little one’s awake? You should come down the stairs slowly. What if you get hurt? You need to always be careful.”

The first prime suspect, Lee Jungjin, the eldest brother.

He’s thirty-two years old, the eldest son of the Hyun Group, and currently working from home as an executive director at Hyun Electronics.

“Our Jungin woke up early today? Good boy. Miss, is breakfast ready for Jungin?”

The second suspect, Lee Jungwoo, twenty-eight years old. He seemed the most normal of the three brothers. Apparently, he recently started working at Hyun Motors as a new hire, but why hasn’t he been going to work?

“Hey, squirt. You’re full of energy this morning, huh? Feeling better already? How about starting some exercise with me today?”

And the third prime suspect, Lee Jungseo. Twenty-five years old, recently discharged from the army and just returned to university. The fact that he kept calling Jungin “squirt,” even though they were only six years apart, was amusing.

Jungin glanced back and forth between his brothers, each of them making different comments, and pointed at the band-aid on his arm.

“Who snuck into my room again? This definitely wasn’t here before I went to bed!”

Ever since the accident, their overprotectiveness had been extreme.

Even though Jungin had his own room, they rotated staying over, leaving him no personal time or privacy.

They had made a deal: as long as they didn’t enter his room without permission, he’d eat properly.

But not even three days later, someone had broken that rule.

“Spill it. Who was it?”

“Ahem… Well…”

Hearing a voice next to him, Jungin furrowed his brows.

He turned his head, and there, wearing a troubled expression, was Jungwoo—the one he trusted the most.

“Jungwoo hyung?”

“Well, Jungin, I didn’t mean to break the rule. I was bringing your uniform and noticed you had a cut…”

Uniform?

Oh, right, it was already Monday.

Jungin’s anger faded as he sank into thought, and sensing an opportunity, Jungwoo hurriedly continued.

“I won’t do it again, okay? Just this once, forgive me. But it’s already past 8 o’clock. You should hurry and get ready for school.”

“School…”

That’s right.
