I am not a Yandere chapter 28

* * *

Noticing their negative reactions, Yeongdeok rubbed his chin.

“It didn’t taste bad to me, but since there’s so much opposition, I’ll reconsider.”

“It’s not about reconsidering. Just stop right now. Only people with dead taste buds would eat this.”

“Are you saying my taste buds are dead?”

“You turn everything into an argument. But seriously, Mr. Cha, there’s something off with your buds.”

Sparks flew between Seonwoo and Yeongdeok’s eyes.

Sensing that round two was about to begin, Choa quickly raised her hand.

“Can we just have regular fried chicken instead? I’d like to try that.”

“But didn’t we just have lunch?”

At Yeongdeok’s comment, DaerimdongFist proudly patted her stomach.

“Chicken’s a dessert. And with so many people here, surely we can finish one.”

It was a good point.

Yeongdeok nodded.

“Alright.”

He headed back into the kitchen, fried up some regular chicken, and brought it to the table.

The members gasped in admiration as they saw the golden-brown chicken.

“Wow.”

“It actually looks pretty decent.”

The plump chicken glistened with a golden hue, and despite just having eaten lunch, the members couldn’t resist the smell of fried oil, making their mouths water.

Seonwoo, unable to believe this was made by the same Cha Yeongdeok he knew, grabbed a drumstick without waiting for anyone’s approval and took a bite.

“Hey! Seonwoo, how could you grab the drumstick first?”

“…What?”

After chewing for a moment, Seonwoo muttered quietly.

The strawberry chicken from earlier had been like death on his taste buds, but this fried chicken was actually… pretty good.

No, not just good—really good.

He alternated between staring at the chicken and Yeongdeok.

Did Cha Yeongdeok really make this?

“You’re the worst. How could you eat the drumstick first without asking?”

Choa scolded him, but her words didn’t quite reach Seonwoo’s ears.

Seeing that Seonwoo’s reaction wasn’t too bad, the other members each took a piece of chicken.

As they ate, Yeongdeok, noticing a customer entering the shop, immediately went to greet them.

“This is really delicious. We should totally promote this!”

Soseki took out her phone and opened the camera app.

She fiddled with angles, trying to get a shot of both the chicken on the table and the shop’s logo on the wall, but the focus kept landing on Yeongdeok, who was helping the customers.

In the end, the shutter clicked just as Yeongdeok was seating the new customers.

“Ugh, why does it keep focusing on him?”

“Uh, but this came out pretty well, didn’t it?”

Gwakdupal, who had been watching Soseki’s actions from the side, commented while looking at the recently taken photo.

“Really?”

“Yes. It seems quite aesthetic, doesn’t it? If we just get permission from Yeongdeok Chicken to post it on SNS, it shouldn’t be a problem, right?”

“Hmm…”

It was true.

Even Soseki thought the photo looked quite well done, like a magazine shoot.

Even if he was a bit of a strange guy, perhaps it was because he was good-looking.

“Yeongdeok Chicken!”

“What’s up?”

Yeongdeok turned his head towards Soseki, who called out to him while he was heading to the kitchen to fry the chicken the customer had ordered.

“Could we possibly promote this store on SNS?”

“Promotion?”

“Soseki is someone who frequently posts on SNS, so she’s good at these things.”

Gwakdupal giggled and chimed in, supporting Soseki.

Yeongdeok didn’t expect much in terms of promotional effect, but he didn’t think it was a bad suggestion, so he gave his approval.

“Do as you please.”

“By the way, Yeongdeok Chicken’s face is also in the photo. Is it okay to use this photo for promotion?”

“It’s fine.”

Yeongdeok answered nonchalantly and went back to the kitchen, focusing on frying the chicken.

As the members were almost finished with the chicken, a group of new customers arrived, and the store suddenly became noisy.

Seonwoo, who had been quietly observing, stood up and told the members.

“Let’s go. It looks like we might be interrupting business.”

Seonwoo, who had been eager to battle with Yeongdeok all day, took the initiative, and Choa tilted her head in surprise.

“Unexpected, Seonwoo?”

Seonwoo glanced at the account number written at the counter while watching Yeongdeok frying the chicken and then turned on his phone screen.

“Even if I don’t like him, I shouldn’t interfere with his work.”

Having transferred the payment for the chicken, Seonwoo left the store with the members.

[Natsuyama Soseki: (Photo) Went to a chicken place, and the chicken is tasty, and the owner looks handsome.]
– The owner’s face looks insane, though?
– But what’s with the suit and apron? Lol.
– This is a violation of portrait rights. Did you get permission to take this photo? Please take it down.
– Where’s this chicken place? The chicken looks delicious. Oh, I mean the chicken.

“What… what is this?”

Soseki, who had just woken up in the morning, couldn’t wrap her head around the flood of notifications filling her phone screen.

How many RTs did this even get?

She had only meant to share it with a few of her friends on the bluebird app, but now cold sweat was trickling down her back.

Soseki immediately went into the Beautiful Life open chatroom and offered a groveling apology.

[I’m sorry!!!!!!! Yeongdeok Chicken!!!!!!! I’m really sorry!!!!!]

[(Apologizing emoji)]

[Gwak Doopal: LOL ㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ Yeongdeok Chicken just became a Twitter star by accident. This is hilarious.]

[DaerimdongFist: Haha, I woke up to this on bluebird in the morning and burst out laughing.]

Since Yeongdeok didn’t use SNS, he was completely clueless about the situation.

He turned his eyes away from his phone and focused on the game he was playing.

While he got distracted for a second, his character died.

He swore revenge on the guy who just killed him.

After playing high-level watch competitions for a while, it was suddenly time to prepare for his business.

Yeongdeok turned off his computer and stepped outside.

When he arrived near his store with the truck, he momentarily froze at the sight through the window.

People were lining up in front of the chicken shop even before it opened.

His shop hadn’t been open that long, but it already had a reputation as a must-visit place?

He must have really shown off his skills a little too much.

“This is troubling.”

As Yeongdeok walked towards the store, he started to worry whether his little audience for this crappy novel would actually grow.

[These days, the typical chicken shop owner’s face]

So damn handsome. Why is a guy who should be an actor running a chicken shop?

  • I saw this too. If he just fixes his hairstyle, he’d be perfect, don’t you think?
  • I seriously want to fix his hair. What’s with that front? Looks like a rat chewed it.
  • Wow, giving unsolicited advice to a regular person now.

[A chicken place I absolutely want to visit these days. The owner’s face is mouthwatering…]

  • People go to a chicken place to eat chicken, not stare at the owner’s face.
  • A friend told me the chicken is good too, though the owner’s a bit rude. But the price is only 8,900 won per chicken.
  • What? Where’s this place?

“What the…”

Just like any other day, Wonjin was scrolling through SNS, drying his hair, when he blinked in disbelief at what he saw.

At first, he thought it was a mistake because he wasn’t wearing his glasses, but even after putting them on, there it was – a photo of Dowon alongside a picture of chicken. Wonjin muttered quietly.

“Director Cha…?”

The last time he saw Dowon, Wonjin felt like he’d been hit over the head and hadn’t been able to shake the feeling since.

Director Cha using formal speech with him… Director Cha?

Formal speech?

Wonjin, still stewing over it, eventually posted on the ‘Boss Sickness’ community.

[1000WON: I think my ex-boss is really mad at me. What did I do wrong? Did I screw up somewhere?]

  • If they’re your ex-boss, just forget about it. You’re not gonna see them again, right?
  • I wish I could, but…

Wonjin couldn’t stop thinking about how suddenly and without warning, Dowon had changed.

And on top of that, he really opened a chicken shop?

“Hmm…”

After some deliberation, Wonjin finally replied to one of the posts.

  • Do you know where this shop is located?

As he waited for a response, he resumed drying his wet hair.

A notification beeped on his phone; someone had replied.

  • It’s called Yeongdeok Chicken in ○○-dong.

Wonjin quickly typed “Yeongdeok Chicken ○○-dong” into the search engine.

Soon enough, the exact location of the store popped up.

“Yeong… Yeongdeok Chicken…”

It felt good to have the location pinned down, but now that he had the information, he felt a wave of hesitation.

Why should he care about him now? He wasn’t his boss anymore.

Still, Wonjin couldn’t shake the memory of Dowon’s last attitude toward him.
