7 transmigration tips from the saint chapter 9

* * *

Seo Woohyun had waited to see if Erdian would give him another quest, but for some reason, there was no word.

Even the status window, visible only to him, showed no signs of changing.

✦Name: Seo Woohyun

✦Title: Saint of the Erdian Temple, ☒☒☒☒ ☒☒ ☒☒

✧Go to Quests

✧Go to Praise Board

The status window was so sparse it felt almost empty.

There weren’t even the usual stats like health, mana, or divine power—just his name, title, and access to the quests and praise board.

No matter how he thought about it, Erdian seemed to lack the qualities of a good system administrator.

The characters hidden beneath the title of “Saint of the Erdian Temple” kept nagging at him.

The spacing made it impossible not to speculate, but with his limited vocabulary, he couldn’t come up with any plausible guesses.

When Sihero visited as usual, Seo Woohyun casually asked if there was any small task he could do.

Having spent so much time with Sihero, Seo Woohyun trusted that he wouldn’t recklessly assign him something too important.

Sihero, being perceptive, responded positively.

“If you’re interested in looking around the area, there happens to be a fitting opportunity.”

“What kind of opportunity?”

“Our Order conducts irregular inspections of temples outside the Holy City. The purpose is to punish clergy members who use Erdian’s name for personal gain or break the sacred laws. With so many followers, there are bound to be those who slip through the cracks.”

In short, they were the local equivalent of secret royal inspectors.

Seo Woohyun’s eyes lit up.

“This time, we’re inspecting a temple in the Duchy of Soznian, which is relatively close to the Holy City. It’s not too far, so I think it’ll be a good chance to look around the outskirts. Priest Giselle here will be leading the inspection team.”

“Ah, Giselle.”

Seo Woohyun pronounced the now-familiar name. Giselle, standing behind Sihero, nodded slightly when their eyes met.

Whenever Sihero had to leave to take care of Order business, he would leave Giselle in charge in his stead.

Giselle held the title of High Priest, second only to the high priest. Over time, they had had enough conversations for the distance between them to close somewhat.

“If the group is too large, nearby temples might try to hide evidence to prepare for the inspection. That’s why our team is small. Think of it as a light trip.”

Sihero provided detailed explanations. In reality, the irregular inspection group traveled simply, much like the priests on their service missions. It was a perfect fit for the Saint’s first official visit, who disliked extravagance.

After hearing all this, Seo Woohyun swallowed nervously.

Although Erdian had told him he could do whatever he wanted, it didn’t necessarily mean he could lounge around and enjoy lavish meals every day. He didn’t want to take that literally and end up in trouble by failing to get a sense of his duties.

“Then, can I join the group? Not that I’m planning to do anything; I’d just like to observe,” Seo Woohyun said cautiously.

He was good at assessing his own situation.

Having only recently acquired the basics, observing was the only thing he could do.

The thought of leaving this room and surviving in the outside world was daunting, and the idea of actively participating in the inspections was out of the question.

“If word gets out that the Saint has joined the inspection delegation, things could get complicated in many ways. I suggest we create a public identity for you,” Sihero added.

Woohyun was pleased with the idea of creating a disguise.

It felt a bit cringey, like one of those ‘hidden powers’ characters in fantasy novels, but at least it would prevent people from throwing themselves on the ground every time they met his eyes.

‘This is better than constantly watching people grovel. As long as I don’t get caught, it’ll be fine.’

Seeing him nodding enthusiastically, Sihero, anxious that the Saint might change his mind, quickly brought over the necessary inspection-related documents.

Seo Woohyun glanced at the yellow thread hanging from the edge of the papers in his hands. He recalled how startled he had been when he first saw the medieval-looking documents used here.

Fortunately, he realized after a few days that the thread dangling from the edge was similar to the ones used in Korea for official documents.

Here, important papers were tied with colored threads, sealed with wax, and stamped with an insignia. Naturally, the wax was yellow.

‘This place is obsessed with yellow. Why didn’t they just choose a Saint with yellow hair instead of picking me?’

He grumbled inwardly as he scanned the contents of the document.

[-Inspection team leader: High Priest Giselle, Special Department, Grand Temple of Erdian.]

[-Personnel: Raullet Vipel, Commander of the Temple Knights, 5 knights from the Special Task Force, 10 apprentice knights, 10 squires, 3 priests from the Inspection Department, 7 High Priests, 10 priests.]

When Sihero mentioned that the group wouldn’t be large, Woohyun had thought it would be a small group of around a dozen people. However, the report listed nearly fifty members.

‘How can such a large group not be noticed? I’m getting a strong feeling this is just over-the-top treatment because of my “parachuted” position.’

[-Details: 1 carriage for the Saint, 2 carriages for the Saint’s food, 1 carriage for the Saint’s clothing, 3 carriages for the group’s food, 2 carriages for equipment…]

The list of supplies for the inspection team went on endlessly.

During a few observation tours at the Grand Temple, Woohyun had seen the carriages in this world.

They were more like trucks than carriages.

The fact that two entire carriages would be filled with his food seemed excessive.

‘It’s not like I’m an elephant. How much could I possibly eat to require two entire carriages?’

It didn’t make sense. Furthermore, there was a separate budget for purchasing food along the travel route.

The more he read the report, the more questions arose, but he couldn’t bring himself to address them.

After all, as someone who had worked in the modern world, he understood Sihero’s position.

In modern terms, the Saint was a “parachuted” vice president, directly appointed by the chairman.

A young, inexperienced person criticizing the plans of a long-serving executive?

It would only make him seem like an arrogant fool.

Fortunately, they had time until the inspection team was set to depart.

All Woohyun could do was stall by saying he’d review the documents carefully.

But staring at them on his own wouldn’t bring any clearer answers.

He had two options: either resign himself to being the over-indulged Saint who consumes food like an elephant or risk being seen as a bratty, parachuted officer by raising concerns.

‘Ah, I don’t know.’

The thought of being the Saint who hogged massive amounts of food was unbearable.

But he lacked enough information to confidently point out the discrepancies.

In the end, Woohyun decided to consult someone who was both friendly toward him and capable of assessing whether Sihero’s decisions were appropriate.

He clasped his hands together, something he hadn’t done in a while.

‘…Lord Erdian, I know you must be busy, but it’s Seo Woohyun. After much consideration, I’ve decided to ask for your advice. Please respond at your convenience. Thank you.’

Woohyun left a polite voice message for the god, sounding as disciplined as a soldier.

Meanwhile, in the distant realm of the gods, Erdian, half-lying on a cushion, felt a twitch at the corners of his lips.

Before coming to this world, Seo Woohyun had been a workaholic employee.

As an atheist, he was much more familiar with reporting to a boss than praying to a god.

In some ways, he didn’t see much difference between a god and a boss.

Both were higher beings, and his relationship with them was awkward.

Learning basic knowledge from Sihero, Woohyun discovered that Erdian rarely descended outside of official temple ceremonies.

Sometimes, the god didn’t even bother to speak.

‘He’s probably too busy. Better to just ask a quick question and be done with it. If he descends, everyone will start prostrating themselves in awe again.’

Based on what he had learned, Woohyun assumed Erdian would respond with just a voice.

That’s what he expected.

But instead of a low voice echoing from above, a dazzlingly beautiful figure suddenly appeared out of thin air—right above his bed, no less.

Erdian was lying on Woohyun’s bed, chuckling, his lips curled into a sharp smile. It was clear something had amused him greatly.

“So, what is it you’re curious about?”

As expected, the voice was laced with laughter.

Woohyun glanced at Erdian, who looked as radiant as ever.

Instead of being awestruck by the god’s beauty, Woohyun found himself more focused on Erdian’s posture.

Resting his chin on his hand, adorned with rings and bracelets, and lazily lying there, he looked more like an idle person than a god. It was fascinating.

‘He really does love lounging around.’

Woohyun was convinced there must be a statue of Erdian somewhere on the continent, lying down just like that.
