How an Omega Villain Survive chapter 5

* * *

When Henry remained indifferent, the disappointed Crown Prince smacked his lips in frustration. He then shifted his focus to someone else.

“Edwin, do you feel the same way?”

William now targeted Edwin. Initially, he intended to secure Henry’s agreement before questioning Edwin, but the situation had changed. The Crown Prince looked at Edwin expectantly.

Edwin, ignoring the Crown Prince’s pressing gaze, looked at Henry, curious about his thoughts. But Henry, who now wanted to be unkind to Edwin, gave no response.

As Henry continued to feign disinterest, Edwin’s gaze drifted away. Henry tried to acclimate to Edwin’s pheromones without looking his way.

‘Maybe I should act like he doesn’t exist today.’

That way, I can endure even forced encounters. Still, not knowing what might happen keeps me uneasy.

“Not interested.”

“Oh, Edwin. Think again. You never know what might happen there.”

William’s words made Henry glance at the cup in his hand, which was shaking as if about to spill its tea. The idea of pushing Edwin into an unknown danger angered him, causing his grip to tighten involuntarily.

Briefly, Henry’s gaze flicked to Edwin before he returned to drinking his tea. He understood why William was speaking that way. Ever since Edwin’s pheromones were blocked, he had been spending much of his time in sword training, making William’s proposition tempting.

‘But still, is that something to say?’

What if the precious heir of a duchy gets hurt? Henry dismissed it as none of his business.

William, after several more attempts to persuade Edwin, turned away, looking less confident than before.

Unable to completely give up, William looked at Henry one last time.

“Henry, are you really not interested in that treasure?”

“Of course…”

Henry’s words trailed off.

‘Wait a minute.’

At first, he planned to refuse because he knew the Crown Prince was seeking fun. He didn’t want to be dragged along by William or spend time with Edwin. But suddenly, something he had overlooked came to mind.

‘There really is a treasure.’
Henry knew the rumor was true. In the original story, William easily got permission to go there but found nothing, dismissing the rumor as false. But someone else obtained the treasure after William left.

Knowing exactly where it was and who would get it, Henry’s mind raced. He had to go there alone if necessary.

‘I might be able to get it myself.’

Noticing Henry’s change in expression, William subtly signaled Edwin. Though Henry seemed to be convinced, Edwin remained unmoved.

“Thinking about it, it might be fun. I’ll talk to my father.”

William, smiling as if he expected this, started to approach Henry.

However, Henry raised his hand to stop William. Seeing Henry’s expression indicating he wasn’t finished, William paused.

“Edwin doesn’t want to go, so it’s just about coordinating our schedules, Your Highness.”

“What? Is that… how it works?”

William, who had intended to drag Edwin along by majority vote, looked bewildered. He had assumed Henry would want to go with Edwin, but Henry remained firm.

“Convincing His Majesty is something my father can handle alone.”

“Well, that’s true, but…”

William glanced at Edwin, questioning if it was okay. But Henry, resolute that Edwin’s opinion didn’t matter, enjoyed his tea. It tasted richer than what his servant had served him at his desk yesterday.

Was it because it was royal?

As Henry enjoyed his tea, Edwin observed him, trying to understand the meaning behind his exclusion. But Henry ignored him completely.

Never get involved. If I do, the only result will be my marking being exposed.

When Henry had drunk about half his tea, he was about to pour himself a fresh cup when he was startled. The teapot’s handle was hot, so he quickly withdrew his hand and signaled the servant.

The servant promptly replaced Henry’s cup with a fresh one, shielding him from Edwin’s view. Henry sighed in relief.

‘That damned pheromone.’

Luckily, he had the teapot as an excuse to back away without showing his trembling hand.

The pheromones of a dominant alpha had the power to completely alter the concentration of the air.

Thanks to the attendant who blocked the pheromones, Henry had a moment to catch his breath and made a firm decision in his mind, over and over again.

‘I mustn’t go with him.’

When the attendant stepped back, Henry pretended to look around while secretly observing Edwin. Edwin stood still, lost in thought, but his pheromones were erratically swirling all around.

‘He said he didn’t want to go, so what’s he so upset about?’

He wasn’t forcing the reluctant Edwin to go with him, so his mood swings were utterly incomprehensible.

Even though Edwin’s discomfort was blatantly clear from his pheromones, it seemed only Henry could sense it, which added to his frustration.

‘I understand it’s because of his incomplete awakening, but why am I the only one who has to feel his pheromones?’

The opposite was not true. Despite thinking it was unfair, Henry felt relieved that his own condition wasn’t revealed.

Although the moment was silent, an intense pheromone battle was happening beneath the surface.

Edwin seemed indifferent on the outside, letting his pheromones run wild, while Henry tried hard to pretend he didn’t notice.

“Now that we’ve finished talking, shall we have a sparring session after so long?” Crown Prince William stood up first, and Henry followed suit as if he had been waiting. He wanted to leave the room quickly, especially preferring the outdoors to the stifling indoor space.

As Henry moved to follow the prince outside, he stopped himself from frowning when a dark figure blocked his path. Slowly, he lifted his head.

“What?”

Although Henry, who manifested as an omega later in life, wasn’t short, Edwin was still a head taller. His robust build made Henry’s slender frame look even more fragile in comparison.

Henry silently cursed his luck. Aside from his background as a duke, what did he have?

“What changed your mind all of a sudden?”

Edwin’s voice carried a note of discontent, and Henry glared at him.

“Do I need a reason?”

“It makes me uneasy.”

“What?”

“I’m always uneasy when you drag me into your plans.”

He had a point.

Often, Henry moved with the intention of being with Edwin, and naturally, Edwin had to bear the consequences.

‘But not this time.’

“I told you I would go with the Crown Prince so you wouldn’t think that.”

“Do you expect me to believe that?”

“There’s no other meaning. You’re not involved this time, so it doesn’t matter, right?”

Henry was serious. This time, he was moving for his own sake, not for Edwin.

As if to prove his point, Henry walked past Edwin, exhaling the breath he had been holding because of Edwin’s pheromones.

It seemed it would take a long time for Edwin to believe he no longer liked him.

“Stop right there.”

Henry stubbornly kept walking, making it clear he wouldn’t comply with Edwin’s demands.

“Think about all the things you’ve done.”

Edwin’s words, tinged with a sigh, made Henry stop in his tracks.

All the things he had done? His jealousy and clumsy attempts at affection towards Edwin?

It hadn’t even been a full day since he inhabited this body.

Though his body still felt unfamiliar, he figured he’d get used to it with time.

However, his feelings towards Edwin wouldn’t change with time.

Henry only wanted to get away from Edwin now.

It was best for both Edwin, who suffered from the incomplete imprint, and Henry, who wanted to find his happiness.

Henry turned halfway to look at Edwin. He saw the familiar distrust in Edwin’s eyes. When he sang yesterday, Edwin had shown a hint of disgust, but distrust was more bearable than that.

Henry met Edwin’s gaze calmly.

“I’m sorry for everything.”

I won’t do it anymore. Really. Really.
