A couple for show chapter 14

* * *

“Damn it, this is so annoying….”

Cha Joobin roughly ruffled his hair.

He’d stepped outside to give Gong Yoochan some space, but the fact that Gong Yoochan had gone to see Kim Woosun was irritating him to no end.

Closing his eyes tightly, Cha Joobin spoke nonchalantly to the restless manager in the front seat.

“He’s with Kim Woosun. Head over there.”

“Is Yoochan drunk again?”

“Seems like it.”

He was terrible at handling alcohol, so why did he like drinking so much?

Every time Cha Joobin told him to cut back on the drinking, Gong Yoochan never listened.

It was frustrating, yet there he was, habitually packing hangover cures and grabbing the coat he always kept in the car.

Gong Yoochan would shiver and complain about the cold every time he drank.

That’s why he often clung to others and made those adorable whimpering noises while curling up.

Thinking about it made him angry again.

Cha Joobin groaned in frustration, clutching his head tightly. It was infuriating that Gong Yoochan had gone to see Kim Woosun while he wasn’t around, and even worse that he got drunk there.

Did he really have to go?

Did he really?

Even when he’d called earlier, Cha Joobin had made it clear he wasn’t happy about it.

Was Gong Yoochan that oblivious?

Cha Joobin thought of the habitual “Yup” that Gong Yoochan would type in his messages and banged his head against the car window.

After doing it a couple more times, the manager glanced at him through the rearview mirror, clearly uneasy.

Cha Joobin had been in a bad mood lately, so the manager was naturally on edge.

Maybe it was his blunt personality and the way he spoke his mind.

He didn’t even treat people that badly, but the manager was always skittish around him.

“You don’t have to be nervous, hyung.”

Cha Joobin added briefly, then sighed deeply.

Making someone uncomfortable for no reason—what a mess.

Still, Cha Joobin told himself not to lose his temper when he got there and sank back into his seat.

“But even so…”

How could he go straight to Kim Woosun right after we broke up?

At least when we were together, he’d ask if it was okay to meet Kim Woosun.

Now, it felt like my opinion didn’t matter at all, and that stung.

“So annoying…”

In the end, Cha Joobin muttered his frustration and tossed his phone aside.

He tried calling Gong Yoochan a few more times, but there was no answer.

When Cha Joobin arrived at the bar, he headed straight inside without even considering searching elsewhere.

He knew instinctively that Gong Yoochan would be in a back room, and Kim Woosun would have picked it for his sake.

The closer he got, the more his anger boiled, quickening his pace.

If he found Gong Yoochan in Kim Woosun’s arms, he was ready to cause a scene.

Cha Joobin took a deep breath.

He knew Kim Woosun would treat him like a kid if he lost his temper, but it was impossible to control himself around Gong Yoochan.

When he finally reached the innermost room, Cha Joobin flung the door open.

“Hey, Gong Yoochan.”

His voice, laced with anger, dropped to an informal tone as he stepped inside, only to bite his lower lip at the sight before him.

Gong Yoochan, thoroughly drunk, was sprawled in a corner of the room, covered with what looked like Kim Woosun’s jacket.

There was no need to commend Kim Woosun for not holding him; it wasn’t like he couldn’t have, but decided not to.

Cha Joobin squeezed his eyes shut and stepped into the room.

“Hyung, wake up. Get a grip, will you?”

“Don’t I exist? At least greet me.”

“I’m your senior, you know.”

“Ah, hello, senior.”

Kim Woosun’s ever-cheerful demeanor was as annoying as ever.

Cha Joobin felt his stomach churn at the sight of Kim Woosun’s sly smile, especially since it contrasted so sharply with his own seething anger.

He felt like the childish one again.

Ignoring Kim Woosun’s smug greeting, Cha Joobin gently shook Gong Yoochan’s shoulder.

“Get up.”

At the cold command, Gong Yoochan let out a soft whimper.

The heat rising in Cha Joobin’s head was almost unbearable.

He yanked off the jacket Kim Woosun had draped over Gong Yoochan and replaced it with the one he brought, then forcefully pulled Gong Yoochan to his feet.

“Ow, easy…!”

Gong Yoochan winced and complained as Cha Joobin manhandled him.

The nerve of him—who was the one really annoyed here?

Cha Joobin gritted his teeth as he snapped back.

“What did you do right to deserve ‘easy’?”

“Hey, hey, he’s drunk.”

“Who doesn’t know that?”

Who let him get drunk like this, though?

Cha Joobin didn’t hold back as he vented his frustration, yet Kim Woosun only chuckled.

It almost felt like he enjoyed stirring up trouble between them, like he was teasing a little brother.

Feeling his temper flare, Cha Joobin shot Kim Woosun a cold glare and then adjusted Gong Yoochan’s clothes.

Ignoring his whining, he hoisted him up and threw his own coat over him.

Whatever Gong Yoochan mumbled about wanting to drink more or stay longer was irrelevant.

As he moved to leave the room without so much as a goodbye to Kim Woosun, Gong Yoochan murmured,

“Ah, Joobin-ah…”

His words trailed off as he pressed closer, clinging to Cha Joobin’s neck and burying his face in his nape.

The warm breath against his skin sent a shiver down his spine.

Gritting his teeth, Cha Joobin tightened his grip around Gong Yoochan’s waist.

Every time he shifted, Cha Joobin could feel his hips against his back.

‘Did he act like this with Kim Woosun too?’

Frustrated, Cha Joobin gritted his teeth.

“Joobin, are you heading home?”

“Yeah.”

“Mm, heading home.”

Gong Yoochan, as if feeling reassured, moved even closer to Joobin, relaxing and leaning heavily against him.

With his head resting on Joobin’s shoulder, he closed his eyes and began to breathe peacefully.

“Let’s say goodbye before we go.”

“Why are you so obsessed with saying goodbye?”

“Because you never say goodbye to me.”

“We’re not close enough to say goodbye, are we?”

The situation was irritating enough to make Joobin’s head feel like it was going to explode, but Kim Woosun persisted in striking up a conversation, shrugging his shoulders nonchalantly.

Joobin found even that unbearable.

He shot Kim a sharp look, not caring what Kim thought of him, and walked away.

From the start, Joobin hadn’t been particularly friendly towards Kim Woosun, so his attitude shouldn’t have come as a surprise.

“Joobin, take care, and make sure Yoochan sobers up!”

Seriously, this guy sure cares a lot when it comes to Gong Yoochan.

With a roll of his eyes to express his annoyance, Cha Joobin left the bar immediately, ignoring the murmuring voices that followed him.

“Ugh, lie down properly, will you?”

As soon as they arrived home, Cha Joobin tried to straighten out Gong Yoochan’s limbs after dumping him on the bed without even taking his shoes off.

He started by removing his shoes, then painstakingly undressed him piece by piece.

It was a struggle to strip Yoochan, who was squirming around on the bed, probably realizing it was a bed as soon as he lay down.

He managed to get the pants off, but when it came to the shirt, Yoochan’s irritation made the shirt get stuck on his forehead.

“Ugh, damn it! Am I your servant or what?”

Fuming, Cha Joobin tossed the shirt aside.

Not that it mattered; Yoochan, who was completely out of it, just wriggled further under the blanket.

The sight of the shirt hanging on his forehead was absurdly funny, but Joobin wasn’t in the mood to laugh.

“I told you I didn’t like Kim Woosun. Why do you keep meeting him? What, you break up and then run to meet him, like you’re announcing to the world that you’re single or something?”

“Ahhh… Joobin… I’m thirsty…”

“What do you want me to do about it?”

“Water…”

“Am I your servant or something?!”

Despite his irritation, Joobin stomped off to the living room, grumbling as he poured a glass of water from the cooler.

When he returned with a glass full of cold water, Gong Yoochan was curled up in a ball, still mumbling about water.

“Ha…”

With a short sigh, Joobin climbed onto the bed and forced Yoochan to sit up.

As he brought the glass to his lips, Yoochan’s pretty, red lips slowly parted to drink.

“You’re spilling it everywhere.”

Joobin wiped the water that dribbled down Yoochan’s chin with his hand.

Realizing the shirt stuck on Yoochan’s forehead was making it difficult for him to drink, Joobin guided Yoochan’s hand to hold the glass on his own and then pulled the shirt off his head.

The way Yoochan’s eyebrows scrunched up as the shirt came off was oddly funny, but Joobin was too annoyed to laugh.

“Joobin… ah… I’m going to sleep now…”

“Sleep properly. Don’t complain about muscle aches tomorrow.”

“Good night…”

Even after all his complaining, Yoochan didn’t seem to hear him at all.

Joobin watched as he wriggled under the blanket again, then rubbed his forehead in frustration.

When he opened his eyes again, he saw Yoochan had already fallen asleep.

Buried in the soft pillow, Yoochan’s breathing was steady and peaceful.

At that moment, Joobin decided to stop being annoyed.

There was no point in being angry with a drunk person—it would only make him more frustrated.

With a deep sigh, Joobin stared at Yoochan, who was sound asleep.

Joobin pulled the blanket over Yoochan, his lips still pouting like a child’s.

He didn’t like how he looked, but there wasn’t much he could do about it.

After all, it was Gong Yoochan.
