I am not a Yandere chapter 60

* * *

“Who was that? Was it Park Haemin by any chance?”

“How did you know?”

“I just had a feeling. Why didn’t you invite him for this?”

“Should I have?”

Jihoon wasn’t sure whether to feel flattered or confused by Yeongdeok’s blunt response, as if he didn’t see the point of inviting anyone else.

“You don’t have to, but things like this are better with more people. It allows for more objective feedback.”

“You’re the only one I need.”

“Pfft…!”

Jihoon, who was about to grab a piece of chicken, burst into dry coughs, his voice rising in disbelief.

“Why do you say things like that as if you’re confessing your love?”

“Your palate is cheap and widely common, isn’t it? So having just you is enough.”

“Shut up. You always have to throw in some unnecessary comment.”

Despite his swearing, Jihoon felt a sense of pride that Yeongdeok trusted him more than Haemin.

Feeling a sudden surge of motivation to properly evaluate the chicken, Jihoon picked up a dark-colored drumstick from the plate in front of him and sniffed it.

“Is this… soy sauce chicken?”

“That’s right.”

“Well, then it shouldn’t be too bad.”

Jihoon confidently took a bite.

The sweet and savory taste he had expected filled his mouth.

Yeah, soy sauce chicken was no problem for him.

The real issue was the weird pink and sky-blue chickens over there. How could a chicken have such colors?

“Just asking, but what’s with those pastel-colored chickens?”

“They’re the result of some creative research.”

“Don’t give me that vague answer. Just tell me what they taste like.”

“Do you know cotton candy and soda? They make ice cream out of them, too.”

“Damn. I’m not doing this.”

Jihoon pretended to get up but then sat back down, worried that if he left, Yeongdeok might actually call Park Haemin over.

In the end, Jihoon tasted all sorts of strange chicken and gave his feedback one by one.

“The soy sauce, curry, garlic, and grilled ones were good.”

“I see.”

“But the cotton candy and soda… I almost spat them out the moment I took a bite.”

“I’ll keep that in mind.”

“So, if you’re adding so many new items, are you going to update the menu too?”

“Yes. I’ve already started looking for a designer.”

“Then let me make it.”

Jihoon was confident when it came to using Photoshop or Illustrator.

But Yeongdeok’s cold stare, as if he had no faith in him, made Jihoon feel uneasy.

“You’re really not reliable…”

“Damn, that hurts. Just trust me this once. If it’s bad, you can hire a designer later.”

Yeongdeok didn’t respond.

Jihoon had to stubbornly insist that he’d do a good job until Yeongdeok finally gave in.

“…Fine.”

Although reluctant, Yeongdeok finally agreed.

Jihoon, sensing his hesitation, felt an odd determination to prove him wrong.

‘I’m going to make this menu great, no matter what.’

A spark ignited in Jihoon’s eyes.

“Alright, let me know when the menu is finalized. I really need to go finish my video editing now. I’ll see you at the shop.”

Jihoon hastily shoved his shoes on and rushed out of Yeongdeok’s house.

Once Jihoon was gone, Yeongdeok reviewed the evaluation sheet, tasting the chicken once more, carefully thinking about which menu items to keep.

The savory smell of chicken filled the shop, and the lively chatter of customers enjoying their meals with a beer could be heard.

Business was running smoothly for Yeongdeok.

“Next customer, please. How many…?”

Jihoon stopped mid-sentence as he went to seat the next guest.

It was the man from before, wearing a black cap and black mask.

Jihoon was wary of him after their last encounter.

Honestly, he wanted to tell him to leave, suspecting something was off.

But he held back and guided him to a seat.

The man, like always, ordered a whole fried chicken.

He seemed like a normal customer.

So why had he avoided Cha Yeongdeok?

And why did he keep covering his face?

Jihoon was eyeing the man when, suddenly, the shop door swung open.

A middle-aged man with a grumpy air entered, swinging a plastic bag with the shop’s logo on it.

“Hey, who’s in charge here? You can’t sell chicken for 8,900 won like this.”

The man’s rude tone gave Jihoon bad vibes as he approached to ask what the problem was.

“What seems to be the issue?”

“The chicken tasted terrible. And I found a hair in it.”

The man held up a long strand of hair.

Jihoon and Yeongdeok both had short hair, so there was no way it came from them.

Did he pluck that from his own head?

Jihoon was tempted to curse but clenched his teeth and held it in.

“I’m sorry the chicken wasn’t to your satisfaction. We apologize for not meeting your expectations.”

“Refund me.”

The man shoved a plastic bag towards Jihoon, who took it without thinking.

The bag felt light, and upon opening it, Jihoon found nothing but chicken bones inside.

Jihoon was beyond dumbfounded.

He had always laughed at the wild customer stories shared on social media, wondering if such people really existed.

Little did he know he’d experience it firsthand.

“Excuse me, sir, but you’ve eaten everything.”

The bones were picked so clean that not even a trace of meat was left.

“I forced myself to eat it, even though it was disgusting. So, refund me.”

“It’s hard to refund something that’s already been eaten, sir.”

“Just give me the refund!”

Does this guy think he can get away with this by insisting?

Jihoon held back a stream of curses that were on the tip of his tongue.

Just then, Yeongdeok, who had been frying chicken in the back, came out, having heard the commotion.

“What’s going on here… Jihoon.”

“Oh, are you the owner? Refund this chicken.”

“You need to make reasonable requests.”

Jihoon, trying to keep his anger in check, started to say more, but Yeongdeok stretched out his arm, pulling Jihoon back.

“Seo Jihoon.”

“…Alright.”

He only heard his name, but the message to stay quiet was clear.

Grumbling to himself, Jihoon clammed up.

Customers inside, who had been eating their chicken, started whispering as they watched the troublesome customer.

Yeongdeok, however, found the situation somewhat amusing.

A persistent troublemaker versus an obsessive control freak – it wasn’t a dynamic you saw every day.

“I’m not leaving until you give me a refund!”

The customer eventually plopped down inside the shop and laid flat on the floor.

Jihoon looked appalled, while Yeongdeok smiled lightly as though watching an amusing show.

It’s amazing how low someone can stoop over 8,900 won.

This is kind of entertaining.

After all, he provided an unusual scene, so it could be considered worth the ticket price.

“Just give him the ref—”

Before Yeongdeok could finish telling Jihoon to process the refund, a customer suddenly stood up and slammed his table.

It was a man in a black cap and mask.

“Stop disrupting the store’s business and get out.”

His deep, calm voice cut through the chatter of the other customers and filled the shop.

Yeongdeok slowly crossed his arms, recognizing the voice he had heard so many times before.

“At your age, isn’t this pathetic?”

“What’s it to you? Mind your own business.”

“Sir, you should call the police. This person is making unreasonable demands and disturbing your business.”

Although his face was obscured by the cap, Yeongdeok recognized who it was just by the man’s posture, voice, and speech. How could he not?

This man had been by his side almost daily in the past.

“You’re right. I should report this.”

As Yeongdeok pulled out his phone, the man in the black cap – Wonjin – felt a chill from Yeongdeok’s gaze and nervously asked, “Uh, just to check… who are you planning to report?”

“Obviously, you. Didn’t I say I’d report you if you showed up again? Persistent, aren’t you?”

“Ahhh!”

Wonjin, who had been acting tough, realized he’d been caught and dashed forward to snatch Yeongdeok’s phone before he could dial.
