[Episode 130 ― The Witch of Sacre (5)

On the day of Jeanne’s execution, a massive crowd gathered in the square.

The executioner, standing on the platform, shouted at the top of his lungs. Soon, the black cloth covering Jeanne’s face was removed.

The crowd that had been jeering suddenly fell silent. It was no surprise. Jeanne was stunningly beautiful.

With eyes that sparkled like amethysts and rare dark brown hair uncommon in the Kaisar Empire, Jeanne’s delicate features contrasted sharply with his defiant gaze, enough to stir something dark in both men and women alike.

As the executioner listed Jeanne’s crimes one by one, the noblewomen in the crowd grimaced in horror.

Yet, Jeanne showed no sign of distress. Instead, he held his head high with pride.

“Devil!”

“Kill him!”

Jeanne’s shameless attitude provoked more spitting and curses from the crowd.

“Do you have any last words?”

The executioner grabbed Jeanne by the hair and lifted his head. Jeanne, staring blankly at the executioner’s face, spoke calmly.

“Would you cut it cleanly in one go?”

His hair, roughly cut, fluttered in the snowstorm. Jeanne, trembling slightly with blood-crusted lips, continued.

“Because I don’t like things that aren’t beautiful.”

A faint smile curved Jeanne’s lips. Amid the chaos, the clock tower’s bell tolled once more.

Breathing heavily amid the crowd’s jeers, Jeanne shouted.

“Shut up, you idiots!”

Jeanne scanned the crowd with bloodshot eyes, yelling. The crowd grew even more enraged. A bottle of alcohol was thrown at Jeanne’s head.

Crash!

The bottle struck Jeanne, causing him to stagger and eventually collapse onto the ground. The drunken men cheered.

Even with blood streaming down from his broken forehead, Jeanne didn’t stop speaking.

“I will curse you all from hell. Every single one of you in the Kaisar Empire, may you all join me in hell…”

Something, whether it was tears or drops of blood, rolled down Jeanne’s cheeks. His nails were all broken, and his hands trembled uncontrollably.

“I will be reborn. I swear it.”

A look of madness filled Jeanne’s beautiful eyes. And then, once more, the black cloth covered his face.

It was a perfect ending for a villain whose entire life had been a performance.
