Dying like in the Original, that’s what the Omega Villain wants chapter 79

* * *

Remy fought desperately to protect himself, but his struggle was futile—like David before Goliath.

The man drew closer to that precious part of him, the one thing he couldn’t let be stolen.

Overwhelmed, Remy squeezed his eyes shut, clenching his teeth as if bracing for death itself.

Thud—!

A dull, unexpected sound suddenly broke through the tension, piercing Remi’s ears.

What was that?

Before Remy could comprehend it, the man gripping him let out a startled shout.

“Wh-what the hell?!”

The hand invading Remy’s body came to an abrupt halt.

Then came another thud, followed by more sounds of impact, as if someone was being beaten mercilessly.

Slowly, Remy opened his tightly shut eyes.

And there, he saw it—a man striking the very face of his tormentor.

It was Rex.

With eyes as cold as ice, Rex swung his fists with wild, relentless fury.

The Rex Balcom, who had always dismissed Remy with a scoff, now held the other man by the collar, pummeling him as if he’d lost all sense of restraint.

‘…?’

A massive question mark filled Remy’s mind.

He stared wide-eyed, unable to believe the sight before him.

‘Why is he beating that guy? No, wait—what’s he even doing here? What business does Rex have in Hicks Road?!’

As these bewildering questions spun in his head, Rex easily subdued the larger man.

Despite his intimidating size, the brute crumpled under a few of Rex’s powerful punches.

‘Is this real? No matter how strong an Alpha is, how can he take down someone like that so easily?!’

Was this the power of an Alpha?

Remy gaped in shock, unable to close his mouth.

After toppling one man, Rex turned his cold gaze to the other two still clutching Remy.

Terrified, they quickly released him.

“We didn’t do anything, sir! We were just following his orders! It’s the truth, we swear!”

Without even being prompted, they began pleading for their lives.

Rex glared at them with the kind of ferocity that could kill and spat out a single word.

“Leave.”

The men bolted, running for their lives.

In mere moments, they were gone, leaving only Remy standing there in stunned silence.

‘What… what is going on here?’

Remi stared ahead, baffled.

The disheveled clothes of the stranger fluttered in the wind, revealing pale, bruised skin.

Rex clenched his jaw, his rage barely contained, and began kicking the man lying unconscious at his feet.

“Stop! No more!”

Remi forgot his own ordeal as he shouted.

The man’s face was already a mangled mess, and if Rex kept going, he might kill him.

No matter what, taking someone’s life wasn’t right.

“He’ll die if you keep going!”

Hearing Remy’s cries, Rex finally stopped.

He turned to Remy, his face contorted with anger.

Remy flinched under the sudden attention, freezing like a deer caught in headlights.

‘Did I say something wrong? Why is he glaring at me like that?’

“You okay?”

The unexpected question tumbled from Rex’s lips.

His expression still seemed murderous, yet his words showed concern.

The contradiction left Remy unsure of how to respond, but he stammered out an answer.

“I-I’m fine.”

“No, you’re not.”

Then why ask?! You lunatic.

Remy bit back the retort. Looking at the unconscious man at Rex’s feet, anyone would have felt the same way.

Rex’s gaze shifted to Remy’s disheveled state.

“Your clothes…”

He trailed off, shrugging off his jacket and draping it over Remy’s shoulders.

The oversized garment engulfed Remy, making him look like a child in a parent’s clothing.

He blinked up at Rex, stunned.

“I’ll take you home.”

“Huh? Wait, what?!”

Before Remy could protest, Rex wrapped an arm around his shoulders, pulling him close as he strode forward.

His firm grip swallowed up Remy’s smaller frame, leaving no room for escape.

‘What is happening?! Why is he acting like this? I thought he hated me! Is this some overwhelming sense of justice or something?! What is going on?!’

Rex didn’t utter a word as they walked.

The silence only amplified the flurry of questions in Remy’s mind, multiplying until they overwhelmed him.

‘I’m losing my mind. I want to ask, but I’m too scared to say a word.’

And yet, Remy couldn’t help but notice the faint minty scent carried by the autumn breeze—the unmistakable pheromone of an Alpha.

It sharpened his senses and made him realize something undeniable: the Alpha walking beside him, the one holding him so protectively, harbored deep feelings for him.

‘…What?’

Remi could hardly process this new revelation.

After everything he had endured, this was the final straw.

‘He’s been cold to me all this time, so why now? Why is everyone suddenly acting so strange around me?’

Rex brought him to the front of his home.

Releasing him, he turned without a word and began walking away.

“Hey! Rex!”

Remi called after him, desperate to make sense of everything.

How could Rex just leave like this, with so many unanswered questions?

“?”

Remi had so many questions he wanted to ask.

But when he turned around to see Rex glaring at him with a fearsome intensity, his mind went completely blank.

“Why?”

“Huh, what?”

“I said, why did you call me? Do you have something to say?”

“Something to say?”

Caught off guard, Remy stammered uncontrollably.

In his panic, the words he had in mind were replaced by something utterly ridiculous.

“This outfit! You need to take it back!”

At least it wasn’t something entirely unrelated to the situation, Remy thought, sighing in relief.

But Rex had already turned his back and started walking away.

“Hey, aren’t you going to take the clothes?”

“I don’t need them.”

“What?”

“You’re not planning to go home dressed like that, are you?”

Without even looking back, Rex tossed out those words and left, leaving Remy standing there all alone.

Frozen in place in front of his house, Remy could only stare blankly.

“Just now… what was that? It felt like something huge just happened…”

It was as if he’d been possessed by a ghost.

Surely, such things couldn’t happen without some supernatural interference.

“…This is driving me crazy. Seriously.”

He muttered to himself in frustration.

The faint scent of mint that had lingered in the air was carried away by the breeze, vanishing without a trace.

The next day, Remy sat at the table, eating breakfast with Oliver as usual.

The two kids across from them chattered excitedly as they devoured their food, but Remy couldn’t bring himself to join in.

His mind was still consumed by the events of the previous day.

‘What was that all about? Why was Rex even there? Did he save me? And that pheromone yesterday… what was that? It clearly indicated interest, didn’t it? Rex? Interested in me?’

“Hey, Remy.”

Oliver prodded him, snapping him out of his thoughts.

“Huh?”

Turning to Oliver, Remy blinked.

With his signature deadpan expression, Oliver pointed out, “That person over there… Do you know him? He’s been staring at you for a while now.”

At Oliver’s words, cold sweat trickled down Remy’s back.

This was the root of his current misery.

Why on earth was that crazy Alpha hiding and staring at him since morning?!

“Uh, Oliver.”

“Yeah, Remi?”

“Stay with the kids for a bit. I’ll go talk to him.”

“Sure.”

After Oliver’s calm agreement, Remy stood and walked toward Rex, who was hiding behind some trees near the clearing.

“Rex.”

Rex flinched momentarily at Remy’s approach but quickly returned to his usual impassive expression.

“Yeah.”

“What are you doing here?”

“Watching over you.”

“I can see that. What I mean is, why are you watching over me here?”

“So nothing like yesterday happens again.”

“…What?”
