From Villain to S-Class Guide chapter 3

* * *

Memories flooded in like a tidal wave.

At first, I couldn’t even comprehend what was happening or who I was.

But as my calm gradually returned, I recognized that the vivid scenes unfolding before my eyes were memories belonging to this body.

More precisely, they were the memories etched into the brain of “Go Yeonwoo,” who originally inhabited this body—not me.

In the story I knew, Go Yeonwoo was nothing more than a villain.

As a supporting character, his perspective was portrayed in a shallow and fragmentary way.

There was no in-depth exploration of his origins or the life he had led.

His inner thoughts were barely touched upon—just a few sentences glossing over them, never exposing his true depths.

As an overwhelming torrent of memories uploaded into my brain like data being fed into a computer, I found myself letting out a bitter laugh.

The hidden truths not revealed in the original story left my head reeling.

Still, I didn’t feel deeply emotional.

Maybe it was because I had a strong awareness that this was all part of a fictional world.

It was absurd, sure, but not enough to make me truly angry.

‘So, Go Yeonwoo was actually a secret test subject at the Guide Research Institute.’

The Guide Research Institute, a government-operated organization, was hastily established when the number of guides began to decline dramatically.

On the surface, its purpose was ideal—researching and preserving guiding energy.

There seemed to be nothing suspicious about it.

Since the original story didn’t delve into it much, I never imagined it could be an inhumane research facility.

‘What kind of monstrosity is this?’

The scene before me now showed Go Yeonwoo convulsing violently, his eyes rolling back as he suffered severe side effects from the experiments.

The researchers observed him with detached expressions, diligently recording their findings.

But that wasn’t the worst part.

The next scene showed the researchers lining up to violate Go Yeonwoo’s unconscious body.

They inserted themselves into him, one after another, moving their hips with disgusting indifference.

Even I, who had remained emotionally detached until now, felt fury boiling within me.

These weren’t researchers—they were trash.

What they did to Go Yeonwoo was beyond inhumane, making me scowl in disgust.

There was a clear reason why Go Yeonwoo, an esper, ended up as a test subject at the Guide Research Institute.

When he underwent his first ability test, his results were unusual.

In addition to the intense A-grade esper waves he displayed, there were signs of another energy: guiding energy.

It was only a possibility, but even that was enough to turn Go Yeonwoo into a valuable prize for the government, which was desperate due to the dwindling number of guides.

What happened next was predictable.

The government, having investigated Go Yeonwoo’s background, discovered he was an orphan with no living relatives.

They promptly abducted him by force to use as a secret test subject for the Guide Research Institute.

And as I could see now, he was subjected to unspeakably cruel experiments.

When the government ultimately failed to extract his latent guiding energy, they treated him like a disposable tool.

Holding his leash, they sent him on high-risk missions as an esper, pushing him to his limits as a form of retribution for their failed experiments.

They vented their frustration by exploiting him ruthlessly, even though it was their failure, to begin with.

‘What a bunch of hypocrites.’

They abducted him, subjected him to brutal experiments, and then turned on him when he didn’t yield the results they wanted.

The government’s actions were so revolting that I couldn’t help but click my tongue in disdain.

By now, I could understand why Go Yeonwoo wreaked havoc on those around him in the original story. While his actions caused trouble for others, he rarely targeted the innocent.

Most of his wrath was directed at those involved in the experiments.

But then there was Woo Jiyoo.

Woo Jiyoo was innocent.

Yet, Go Yeonwoo killed him.

At least, that’s what the original story claimed… but what was this memory?

I was thrown into confusion as a new scene unfolded.

Woo Jiyoo appeared—at the Guide Research Institute, no less.

He stood outside the lab where Go Yeonwoo was being experimented on, accompanied by several researchers.

‘What the hell is this?’

Woo Jiyoo’s gaze toward Go Yeonwoo was unlike that of the indifferent researchers.

His eyes burned with hatred and malice, so far removed from the kind-hearted Woo Jiyoo described in the original story.

‘Why is he looking at Go Yeonwoo like he wants him dead?’

As Go Yeonwoo writhed in pain, Woo Jiyoo smirked, his expression twisted with satisfaction.

I couldn’t reconcile this with the Woo Jiyoo I thought I knew.

Soon, I discovered the truth: Woo Jiyoo was another test subject of the Guide Research Institute.

Unlike Go Yeonwoo, he was part of an experiment to forcibly implant guiding energy into his body.

The process was grotesque beyond belief.

Unregistered guides—those not officially recognized by the government—were kidnapped, their hearts ripped out while they were still alive.

The harvested hearts, brimming with esper energy, were then processed and injected into Woo Jiyoo.

What’s more shocking was that Woo Jiyoo participated voluntarily.

Unlike Go Yeonwoo, who endured relentless torment, Woo Jiyoo received preferential treatment.

The researchers ensured he felt minimal pain during the experiments and spared him from cruel treatment.

‘Who is he, really? Does he have ties to someone high up in the government? Maybe a hidden son of a powerful figure?’

In the end, Woo Jiyoo became an A-grade guide, assigned as the exclusive partner of a top esper team.

However, the experiments were only partially successful.

Without regular medication provided by the government, his guiding energy would destabilize, reverting him to his original state.

The pressure of hiding this truth weighed heavily on Woo Jiyoo.

The original story’s portrayal of his mental struggles and obsessive behavior toward his espers now made sense—it all stemmed from the fear of his secret being exposed.

‘This is a complete scam.’

The sheer volume of hidden truths left me dumbfounded.

If the author was going to include all this, they should’ve written an epilogue to explain it.

Leaving readers in the dark like this was frustrating.

‘But why was I reincarnated as Go Yeonwoo?’

With some questions answered, a more pressing one arose.

The hidden truths of the original story didn’t matter to me.

What mattered was why I had taken over Go Yeonwoo’s body.

Waking up in someone else’s body without warning—now that was something I couldn’t wrap my head around.

‘Sure, I’ve been bored with my love life lately, but this? This is way too much.’

Without any particular reason, I came to realize one day that I was a masochist.

Once I became an adult, I started seeking partners and indulging in a satisfying sex life.

As a true masochist, I had a preference for rough and extreme play, and I became well-known among sadists.

I was so popular that changing partners frequently wasn’t an issue.

However, at some point, I started feeling a sense of boredom.

No matter what I did, I couldn’t find satisfaction, leaving me consumed by frustration.

As someone who genuinely enjoyed being treated roughly in line with my masochistic tendencies, I was well-known among sadists.

My popularity was such that constantly changing partners wasn’t an issue.

But at some point, I started feeling a sense of boredom.

No matter what I tried, I couldn’t find satisfaction, and I was left overwhelmed with frustration.

Recently, I even experimented with group play, but it still didn’t quench my desires, leaving me more irritated than ever.

And then, out of nowhere, I found myself transported into the world of a novel.

It was so absurd that I couldn’t help but scoff.

‘If you’re going to throw me into another world, at least tell me why.’

With a sigh, I waited, wondering when these memories—this strange state—would come to an end.
