Dying like in the Original, that’s what the Omega Villain wants chapter 65

* * *

‘Is that really it…? Should I have told him before things went that far? But even so, how could he ignore an alpha he spent a heat cycle with? Is that even possible? I’m losing my mind here…’

While Ashton spiraled deeper into his thoughts, his face growing grimmer by the second, Chandler cleared his throat nearby.

“Ahem…”

That sound finally snapped Ashton out of his reverie.

He quickly gathered himself, his slightly flushed face returning to its usual composure.

“What will you do, sir? Should I leave a message?”

“No, I’ll wait.”

“We have no way of knowing when he’ll return.”

“I’m aware.”

The butler bowed and stepped away, instructing another servant to prepare refreshments in the drawing room.

Meanwhile, Ashton made his way there on his own.

Having practically grown up alongside Remy, he was more familiar with the layout of the house than anyone.

‘Sigh. Remy…’

Even in the drawing room, Ashton couldn’t stop sighing.

The image of Remy that night kept flashing before his eyes, only amplifying his turmoil.

He hadn’t anticipated his feelings for Remy would run this deep.

“It’s grown bigger than I thought…”

‘…my feelings for you, I mean.’

Collapsing onto the sofa, Ashton sank deeply into the cushions.

Exhaustion, compounded by sleepless nights, quickly overtook him.

Surrounded by faint traces of Remy’s scent lingering in the room, he closed his eyes.

Sunlight streamed gently through the windows, pooling over his body.

The quiet stillness filled the space, so profound that even his breathing seemed loud.

Time passed, and as the sun dipped low, painting the sky in hues of red, dusk began to settle.

Remy finally returned home, moving at a leisurely pace.

‘Phew. It’s a relief. Even if not at Roberto’s factory, I managed to find another place to print.’

Remy had met with the factory manager at the location Oliver had suggested.

He had to provide detailed explanations about the materials to be printed, but thankfully, the manager had readily agreed.

Since the factory specialized in handling risky prints, like Roberto’s, their discussion had gone smoothly.

‘And he even offered to connect me with an informant. An informant… That’s even better. It’ll help me gather more detailed information about the Wesley family business.’

Though he couldn’t print at Roberto’s factory as in the original plan, it was fortunate that the flyers could still be made.

After all, the saying went, “All roads lead to Rome.”

What mattered was that the flyers would be produced.

Yet, Remy suddenly stopped in his tracks.

‘Everything’s going fine, so why do I feel uneasy? Is it because of the manager? He did have a shifty look, like some kind of thug…’

“Remy.”

Lost in thought, Remy was startled by someone’s voice.

He looked up, and there, stepping out of his house, was Ashton.

Immediately, Remy’s face twisted into a frown.

As Ashton approached with quick strides, Remy instinctively stepped back.

It had been a while since they’d seen each other, and Ashton’s presence wasn’t welcome.

Gritting his teeth, Remy prepared to run if necessary.

“Where have you been all day, Remy? You’ve been going out every single day lately. Where to, huh?”

Ashton’s concerned tone didn’t soften the cold expression on Remy’s face.

He had no intention of staying close to Ashton any longer. In an icy voice, he replied,

“Why should I tell you where I go?”

“Don’t say that, Remy. I was worried about you.”

“Why would you worry about me?”

“They said you were sick. Too sick to even get out of bed.”

“That’s none of your business.”

“How could it not be? You were probably sick because of me.”

“…What?”

“That night. I pushed you too hard. I didn’t hold back when I should have.”

In that instant, anger surged through Remy.

The moment the words “that night” left Ashton’s lips, he felt his temper flare.

Already burdened by the events of that night, hearing Ashton acknowledge it only intensified his inner turmoil.

While he understood that, in this world, omegas were destined to pair with alphas, it didn’t make it easier to accept.

After yielding his body to another man, Remy felt consumed by an overwhelming sense of inferiority and shame, as if he had crossed an irreversible line.

And all of those feelings of unease were directed squarely at Ashton.

“…Ah. Now I get it.”

“Remy…?”

“That’s it, isn’t it? You think you did something to me, so now you feel guilty. Is that it?”

“What are you saying?”

“Isn’t it obvious? We spent a heat cycle together. So what? Do you think you wronged me? Is that why you’re suddenly acting all responsible?”

As Remy’s words grew more twisted and bitter, Ashton’s expression hardened.

“Remy, don’t say things like that.”

“Why not? I’m just being honest.”

“Remy.”

“You’re acting like this because you feel guilty, aren’t you? Because some crazy omega begged you to do it, and after you went through with it, your conscience started to bother you. What, am I wrong?”

At this point, Ashton had nothing more to say.

He had always maintained a calm demeanor despite Remy’s sharp tongue, but not this time.

This… was something he couldn’t just listen to.

Me… feel guilty toward Remy?

My conscience? That’s… ridiculous.

“I’m sorry, but you don’t need to feel guilty toward me. It didn’t mean anything to me, anyway. Spending one night with someone like you? It’s nothing.”

For a moment, Ashton’s gaze turned icy.

As if trying to comprehend what he had just heard, his eyes narrowed sharply.

“That… what did you just say?”

“What? What part?”

“To you… it didn’t mean anything?”

“Ha. Didn’t you hear me? Want me to say it again? Sleeping with you—it meant nothing to me.”

At this point, Remy, who had been spewing cruel words in a fit of uncontrollable anger, finally noticed Ashton’s expression, frozen and hardened like stone.

He hadn’t meant to take it this far.

He could now see that his own self-loathing had driven him to lash out at Ashton so mercilessly.

But Remy clenched his teeth harder.

‘No, it’s better this way. Maybe this will finally make Ashton give up on me. If that’s what it takes… then fine. That’s enough.’

“You…”

Ashton, despite his confusion, seemed to be trying to keep his composure.

“Do you remember… what I told you that day?”

“What words?”

“I told you I liked you. That I liked you.”

Of course he remembered.

Seeing Ashton’s expression twisted his chest in a strange way, but Remy could only respond more cruelly.

“People say all kinds of things during sex.”

So Remy finally spat out the most cutting words he could muster.

He said them to Ashton, but somehow, it felt like he was stabbing himself in the chest.

“…”

Ashton didn’t say anything for a long moment.

Even Ashton, who usually accepted everything about Remy’s erratic behavior, couldn’t understand him right now.

No one could, not at this moment.

“Yeah. I think it’s best if we stop talking.”

Ashton turned away. He coldly turned his back on Remy.

Before walking off, he left one final statement, like a farewell.

“I never lied to you that night.”

“…”

“At least… I was honest about my feelings.”

And with that, Ashton started walking away.

Watching his figure fade into the distance, Remy pressed his lips tightly together, unable to say a word.

He stayed rooted in place until Ashton disappeared completely into the darkness that had fully settled.

His chest throbbed with an odd, aching pain. It wasn’t supposed to hurt like this.

But why…?
