I am not a Yandere! chapter 1- Prologue

With his sharp intellect, handsome appearance, and abundant wealth, Dowon, a member of the Seongjin Group conglomerate family, was a man envied by many.

Believing that there was no need to attend school, he passed elementary, middle, and high school through self-study exams in a short period and then went on to graduate from university, immediately learning the ropes at the company.

As a result, Dowon was able to climb to the position of director at Seongjin Group at a young age.

For Dowon, life was solely about work. His only goal in life was to somehow gain the recognition of his grandfather, the chairman of Seongjin Group. The reason was that Dowon was not the chairman’s biological grandson.

Only Dowon and his mother, Park Kyungsook, knew this truth. Determined to be acknowledged for his abilities even if his grandfather ever discovered the truth, Dowon tirelessly honed his skills.

After another hectic day, Dowon, on his way home, realized he was out of cigarettes and instructed his secretary to buy some.

However, the secretary, who had rushed out of the car, took forever to return, as if he were making the cigarettes himself rather than buying them.

Growing impatient while checking his watch, Dowon finally decided to head to the convenience store himself.

Though a nearby convenience store was in sight, his secretary was nowhere to be found.

Dowon hastily lit the cigarette he had just bought as soon as he stepped out of the store.

One stick, then another… The smoke he exhaled spiraled up into the air and vanished.

As he was about to light his third cigarette, he received a call from his secretary, Wonjin. Dowon answered the call.

“I’m sorry, Director Cha! The chairman suddenly called for me. I’ll return shortly.”

If it was because of his grandfather, there was no helping it. Dowon put the cigarette he was about to light back into the pack, intending to return to his car.

Just as he was about to leave, a sharp voice called out behind him.

“Excuse me!”

Dowon briefly looked around at the sound, then turned his head, realizing there was no one else around but him.

“Please extinguish your cigarette properly. And you’re not supposed to smoke here in the first place.”

A man with a naive-looking face sternly admonished Dowon, clearly stating what he wanted to say.

Though the man’s eyes were tense with determination, his face was so gentle that it lacked any sense of intimidation. Dowon responded coolly.

“Why should I?”

“What if the convenience store catches fire?”

“If it bothers you so much, you clean it up. Isn’t that your job?”

Dowon replied, eyeing the convenience store vest the man was wearing, before turning to walk in the direction he originally intended.

However, he didn’t get far before the man grabbed his sleeve. Dowon felt his brow furrow.

Just as he was about to speak his mind, the man suddenly held something out in front of Dowon.

“Take this.”

A cute, colorful wrapping caught Dowon’s eye.

Though he had never eaten one before, he knew exactly what it was. Dowon slapped the lollipop out of the man’s hand.

“I don’t eat such low-grade food. Just what do you take me for?”

“I don’t care what you eat. But smoking that much is bad for your health.”

“….”

“It might be none of my business, but I’m just saying.”

The man quietly went into the convenience store, brought out a broom and dustpan, and started cleaning up the cigarette butts Dowon had discarded. Dowon stared blankly at the lollipop and the man.

“You, what’s your name?”

This was the first time in his life that Dowon, who knew nothing but work, felt a strange emotion when he met Eungyeol.
