From Villain to S-Class Guide chapter 68

* * *

Despite being a Guide, Yeonwoo’s recovery ability was on par with an average A-class Esper—not as miraculous as an S-class, but still fast enough that they’d never hesitated to play rough with him.

No matter how much they broke him, he’d always bounce back.

“Does Jihyuk know he’s like this?”

“No. Was gonna tell him.”

“Call him down. He’s upstairs.”

“Yeah.”

Still cradling Yeonwoo, Heesung left the bathroom and headed for the stairs.

From the living room, Dohoon—now standing—watched with equal confusion.

“Why would our Yeonwoo be sick? Weird…”

“Hell if I know,” Taewon snapped, roughly tying his robe before storming off to change.

Meanwhile, Heesung reached Jihyuk’s room and threw the door open.

Mid-call, Jihyuk glanced over, then stilled at the sight of Yeonwoo in Heesung’s arms.

“—I’ll call you back,” Jihyuk muttered before hanging up.

Before he could speak, Heesung shoved forward, presenting Yeonwoo’s burning body.

“My fucktoy’s sick. Burning up.”

“…Go Yeonwoo is sick?”

Jihyuk’s unusually slow reply made Heesung nod impatiently.

“Yeah. Like a furnace. Can’t even think straight. Look.”

Yeonwoo’s eyelids fluttered weakly, consciousness still out of reach.

Sweat-damp hair clung to his forehead.

“You should’ve given him a potion first, not carried him here.”

“Ah—”

Only then realizing his oversight, Heesung turned to leave, but Jihyuk stopped him, nodding toward the bed.

“Put him there. I’ll get it.”

As Jihyuk left, Heesung carefully laid Yeonwoo down, movements uncharacteristically gentle—not that he noticed.

“…Yeonwoo. Why’re you sick?”

Heesung stared down, baffled, as he tugged the blanket up to Yeonwoo’s neck—then paused and yanked it back down.

“Do you not cover feverish people…?”

Never having experienced illness himself, Heesung blinked slowly, clueless.

But wouldn’t he get cold?

He tugged the blanket up and down, torn, until Jihyuk returned with a recovery potion.

“Hng…”

Heesung snatched the vial before Jihyuk could hand it over, tipping it against Yeonwoo’s lips.

But the boy only whimpered, barely swallowing before spitting it out.

“…Tch. You have to drink it properly.”

After another failed attempt, Heesung poured the potion into his own mouth, then pressed their lips together—just like when he’d fed Yeonwoo before.

At first, Yeonwoo choked, but Heesung’s stubbornness won out, and he finally swallowed.

“Good boy. My fucktoy…”

Heesung pulled back once the vial was empty, ignoring Jihyuk’s glare.

His focus stayed fixed on Yeonwoo.

“…Will he get better now?”

He poked Yeonwoo’s fever-red cheek. No answer.

Finally looking up, Heesung glared at Jihyuk.

His face was blank, but his brow twitched.

“I said—will he recover now?”

Jihyuk shrugged.

“Dunno,” then abruptly walked out.

Heesung scowled at the closed door.

“…The hell? Ridiculous.”

Whatever had pissed Jihyuk off didn’t matter.

To Heesung, it was just absurd.

“Everything’s annoying. Pisses me off…”

Grumbling, he looked back at Yeonwoo, still gasping weakly.

Truthfully, Heesung had never even used a recovery potion before and had no idea how they worked.

But since Jihyuk hadn’t objected, he assumed Yeonwoo would heal soon.

“Yeah. You’ll be fine.”

He pressed Yeonwoo’s sweat-damp hand to his own cheek, murmuring.

Unconsciously, he longed to see those big, dark deer-like eyes open again—looking only at him.

Like any other esper, Go Yeonwoo had excellent regenerative abilities, so when he began suffering from a high fever, everyone found it strange.

It was only natural—this was the same Go Yeonwoo who could heal from a broken ankle overnight, yet now he was miserably weak and feverish.

Still, they dismissed it as nothing serious.

Aside from giving him a recovery potion, they didn’t take any further action.

They barely grasped the severity of the situation.

Shin Heesung, too, had only been startled at first.

After all, Go Yeonwoo was both an esper and a guide—he should recover quickly.

Or so he thought. But…

“Why isn’t it going down? No—his fever’s gotten worse…”

Shin Heesung, who had just checked Yeonwoo’s temperature, stared down at the thermometer with disbelief.

The device had to be working fine, yet now he even doubted that. It must be broken.

“You said the potion would fix him right away.”

Shin Heesung’s sharp eyes turned toward Han Jihyuk, who stood leaning against the wall.

Jihyuk didn’t look too good either—his face was still blank, but his brow and lips twitched faintly.

“Answer me. Han Jihyuk, I said answer.”

With a hardened expression, Shin Heesung stood up and stepped in front of Jihyuk.

But Jihyuk didn’t even glance at him, his gaze fixed solely on Yeonwoo.

Something was wrong—the thought churned violently in Jihyuk’s mind.

When Yeonwoo first developed the fever yesterday, he’d assumed a single high-grade recovery potion would fix it.

And it should have.

A high-grade potion normally cured a fever instantly.

There shouldn’t have been a problem.

But contrary to their expectations, Yeonwoo’s condition hadn’t improved even after a full day.

Instead, overnight, his fever had spiked even higher, worsening his state.

Right now, the only ones left in the mansion were Shin Heesung and Han Jihyuk—everyone else was gone.

Lee Dohoon had gone out to find a trustworthy healing esper, while Kang Taewon, after throwing a fit and smashing every piece of furniture in the living room, had stormed out and hadn’t returned.

“Ugh… hhk… hh…”

Yeonwoo, his entire body flushed red as if burning from within, struggled to breathe.

His eyelids remained tightly shut, as though he had lost consciousness.

Occasionally, he mumbled something incoherent, but neither Shin Heesung nor Jihyuk could make out the words.

“I told you to answer me, Han Jihyuk.”

Shin Heesung’s nerves were frayed.

When Jihyuk continued ignoring him, he grabbed his shoulder harshly.

Only then did Jihyuk’s gaze shift toward him.

“When did I say he’d recover immediately?”

“What?”

“I never said that, Shin Heesung.”

“…Are you seriously playing word games right now? You’re not Lee Dohoon.”

“Then stop bothering me and back off.”

With a cold look, Jihyuk flicked Shin Heesung’s hand off his shoulder like swatting a fly and turned his attention back to Yeonwoo.

Shin Heesung’s lips twisted at Jihyuk’s infuriating attitude.

He was already on edge from seeing his precious Yeonwoo unconscious—now Jihyuk was testing his patience.

His anger surged.

Truthfully, he’d been irritated by them for a while.

Whether it was Jihyuk, Lee Dohoon, or Kang Taewon—he wanted to wipe them all out.

To make sure they never got close to Yeonwoo again.

Shin Heesung’s sharp gaze landed on Jihyuk’s neck.

Maybe he should just strangle the bastard right now.

With Dohoon and Taewon gone, this was his chance to eliminate one of the nuisances.

“…Die.”

Just as Shin Heesung, muttering darkly, reached for Jihyuk—

“…St… op… hh…k…”

A sound from behind made him freeze.

Yeonwoo’s voice—clearer than before—had spoken.

“…My… fault… hhk… didn’t… see… properly… Please… Koo… Hyuk-jun…”

The words that followed made both Shin Heesung and Jihyuk stop breathing.

“What… did you just say? My toy just…”

Shin Heesung muttered blankly, blinking slowly as if unable to believe what he’d heard.

He turned to Jihyuk.

“…”

Jihyuk said nothing.

He just stared at Yeonwoo, who continued whimpering in feverish delirium.

“Ugh… no more… today…Koo Hyuk… jun… hh…”

As Yeonwoo’s pitiful murmurs continued, Shin Heesung inhaled sharply.

His brain refused to process it properly.

His body felt sluggish, as if oxygen wasn’t reaching him.

His vision blurred as he slowly turned back toward Yeonwoo.

Bzzzt—!

A sharp ringing pierced his ears, making him stagger.

He braced himself against the wall, forcing his breathing to steady.

This wasn’t just shock. It was beyond that—a seething, black rage.

He wanted to storm into the Center right now and slit Koo Hyukjun’s throat.

…No. Death was too merciful.
