Even to Jeongseo, it seemed suspicious to ask such a thing.
But no matter how closely he watched Pyo Yoontae, he seemed completely normal, offering no clues as to why he had brought it up.
Pyo Yoontae, propping his chin on his hand, casually tapped his cheek with his fingers, as if playing a piano, before answering nonchalantly,
“I just thought of something with fur that’s pure white.”
There was only one thing with pure white fur that Pyo Yoontae could be thinking of.
Jeongseo rolled his eyes.
“…Your first love?”
Without a moment’s hesitation, Pyo Yoontae nodded.
As expected… Had he figured it out?
But how?
Nervous, Jeongseo swallowed hard.
“Do you think your first love was a lesser weasel?”
This time, there was no immediate reply.
Pyo Yoontae studied Jeongseo with a measuring gaze, his eyes drifting off into the distance.
After a brief silence, he shrugged.
“Maybe, maybe not. But since lesser weasels are so rare, it was probably just a mouse.”
“Oh.”
At his uncertain response, Jeongseo felt his tension suddenly dissipate, though oddly enough, he also felt a twinge of disappointment.
But why?
He had nothing to feel disappointed about.
After all, until recently, he hadn’t even liked Pyo Yoontae and had agonized over the fact that he might be his first love.
Whenever it came to Pyo Yoontae, his emotions seemed to get all tangled up. Jeongseo twitched his ears and shook his head slightly.
His mind was becoming so cluttered, he felt like he might get a fever.
“If you found your first love, what would you do?”
Would he confess?
Before, when he didn’t know he was his first love, he had assumed he would leave his as soon as he found out.
But then again, both his first love and Pyo Yoontae were just high school students.
It wasn’t like he could just leave right away. Still, what if he rejected his confession… Would he leave then?
He didn’t want that…
Once again, his head was filled with worries.
Though he didn’t notice, Pyo Yoontae slowly leaned his upper body toward his ear.
Then, in a low voice, he whispered playfully,
“I’d make babies right away.”
Jeongseo blinked rapidly.
Had he just heard his correctly?
He turned his head to look at him, and Pyo Yoontae’s eyes curved into a lazy smile.
‘Make babies…’
No matter how much he tried to reinterpret it, there was only one conclusion he could draw.
“…Babies? You mean you’d want to have children?”
With a mischievous look, Pyo Yoontae gave a small nod.
This… was something he had never expected.
Jeongseo stared at him, confused, and asked,
“But you’re only 18?”
“Back in the day, they used to…”
Pyo Yoontae reached out and gently pinched the tip of Seo Jeongseo’s brown, upright ear.
The ticklish sensation sent chills down his spine, making his shiver.
His thumb brushed over the smooth skin inside his ear.
“They say people got married and had kids at fourteen.”
“…”
“At our age, we’re more than capable of starting a family.”
Seo Jeongseo was at a loss for words.
Was he serious?
The sharp glint in his yellow eyes suggested he was.
It seemed like Pyo Yoontae was really planning to get married and have kids as soon as he found his first love.
The thought of starting a family felt like a distant future to him, and the idea clashed entirely with his moral compass.
Marriage was one thing, but having kids…!
Seo Jeongseo’s face turned bright red.
“Take your hand off, you pervert!”
His face flushed as red as it could, Seo Jeongseo spun around, unable to look directly at him.
Just then, the bell signaling the end of class rang, and he jumped to his feet.
“Where are you going, Seo Jeongseo?”
“Don’t follow me!”
Seo Jeongseo quickly bolted out of the classroom.
His heart raced.
Pyo Yoontae was such an idiot.
Saying things like that when he was his first love!
Shaking off the dark thoughts that popped into his head, Seo Jeongseo made a vow.
He would never find out he was his first love!
Mid-May arrived.
A warm breeze drifted through the open windows as the weather got warmer.
Seo Jeongseo rested his hands on his desk, gazing outside.
The sunlight was so intense that it felt like if he kept staring at it, he’d go blind.
It was the fifth period after lunch.
The sound of chalk tapping the blackboard, the scribbling of pencils, the warmth of the classroom, and his full stomach made for the perfect setting to make his eyelids feel heavier.
Seo Jeongseo absentmindedly watched the students running around the playground, kicking a ball.
Even though it must have been scorching, laughter and shouts echoed between the running figures.
Her head gradually drooped before jerking up.
Naturally, Pyo Yoontae, who was sitting next to him, turned to look.
Earlier at lunch, Seo Jeongseo had gone for seconds because they served
Eonyang-style bulgogi, and afterward, he roamed the playground out of boredom, chattering away.
Then he’d eaten an apple in the classroom, complaining that it was too bitter because he’d just brushed his teeth but still finishing the fruit anyway.
‘No wonder he’s sleepy.’
Eating, running around, and eating again—Pyo Yoontae chuckled softly and slid his hand beneath his head as he nodded off again.
His face fit into his large palm, from his nose to his chin, with room to spare.
His soft, warm cheek squished against his fingers.
It seemed like Seo Jeongseo’s body ran hot because he was so full of energy.
He must be sensitive to heat, Pyo Yoontae thought as he gently squeezed his slightly chubby cheeks like a stuffed toy.
Though Seo Jeongseo frowned slightly, his steady breathing suggested he was sound asleep.
After playing with his face for a while, Pyo Yoontae carefully lowered his head onto his book, making sure he wouldn’t wake.
It didn’t matter if he missed a few classes—he could always teach his later.
He watched his back rise and fall rhythmically, his fingers twitching unconsciously.
He had the urge to poke his side and cheeks playfully to wake his up, but at the same time, he wanted to let his sleep peacefully.
Just as his patience began to wear thin, the bell rang.
Pyo Yoontae glanced at the classroom speaker, a grin spreading across his face.
He lay his head on the desk, facing Seo Jeongseo, and bent his fingers so that his index and middle fingers touched his lips.
“Seo Jeongseo.”
Her small ferret-like ears twitched slightly.
“SoSeo Jeongseo.”
His eyelids fluttered, and he slowly opened his eyes.
Still groggy, his blurry vision focused on Pyo Yoontae’s face in front of him.
After a few blinks, Seo Jeongseo realized something was touching his lips—both his upper and lower lips.
Her eyes shot open as he sat up.
He instinctively bristled in shock, his tail puffing up. Looking down, he saw Pyo Yoontae’s bent fingers where his lips had been.
Seo Jeongseo glared at him, his face burning hot, as he grinned mischievously.
Finally realizing what had touched his lips, Seo Jeongseo shook his tail in frustration and shouted, “What do you think you’re doing!”
“How did it feel, Seo Jeongseo?”
Her heart pounded at his teasing question, and he could only gape.
Lately, he’d been feeling unusually unsettled, and now he was playing tricks on his like this!
As Seo Jeongseo fumed, unable to calm down, Pyo Yoontae smirked.
“Did it really feel like lips?”
He pressed the same fingers that had touched his lips against his own.
His light pink lips pressed against his fingers for a moment before he pulled them away.
“They just feel like fingers to me. Is it because I know?”
His casual attitude irritated him.
He knows everything, doesn’t he?
With his popularity, Pyo Yoontae must have had some dating experience.
Even though he claimed to have come to this small town to find his first love, Seo Jeongseo began to wonder if his feelings for that childhood crush weren’t as deep as he had thought.
He hadn’t even been all that enthusiastic about looking for him.
The thought sparked a sudden burst of anger in Seo Jeongseo.
His emotions had been all over the place lately whenever it came to Pyo Yoontae.
As he looked at his as if he couldn’t even tell the difference between fingers and lips, Seo Jeongseo bit his lips and snapped back, “Of course I can tell the difference between fingers and lips! I was just startled because your face was so close!”
“You can tell? How?”
“Because the feeling is different, obviously!”
