How an Omega Villain Survive chapter 31

* * *

Upon arriving at the Heron estate, Crown Prince William disappeared, saying he had some business to attend to.

Henry, too, had matters to deal with related to the Reve Trading Company, so he headed straight for the inn. However, Henry kept furrowing his brow, appearing uncomfortable.

“Are you alright?”

Even Edwin, who was walking ahead, turned around at Sir Teher’s concern to look at Henry.

Henry glanced at Edwin and waved dismissively at Sir Teher.

“I’m fine.”

To show he was truly okay, Henry suddenly picked up the pace, overtaking everyone. But then he furrowed his brow again and finally turned to look at Edwin.

“Come to think of it, you have quite a strange personality.”

Edwin shifted his gaze to Henry without changing his expression.

“When I followed you around, liking you, you hated it so much. But now that I say I don’t like you, are you upset?”

A slight crack appeared in Edwin’s expression, almost imperceptibly.

Henry, who noticed this, shouted triumphantly. Yes, this was the reaction he was waiting for.

“Do you want me to like you again? So I can start following you around, pretending to bump into you by chance?”

“Why bring up such pointless things?”

“Why are you following me?”

Henry finally expressed directly that he wanted Edwin to stay away from him.

Edwin, however, didn’t bother to reply, as if he saw no reason to.

Henry had realized that Edwin would only engage if provoked with a confrontational tone, but often ignored him when spoken to directly.

“The Reve Trading Company is no longer your concern, so how much further do you plan to involve yourself?”

Henry had already revealed who the guild leader was and felt Edwin should have gotten enough from their conversation.

Yet, Edwin kept paying attention to him.

“Are you trying to push me away now?”

If that was the plan, you should have set boundaries from the start. It’s all your fault. Edwin’s reaction seemed to convey this, and Henry scoffed.

Previously, Edwin had only asked, so Henry answered him.

He didn’t have to, but he did it to prevent any unnecessary misunderstandings. Now, Edwin was being unreasonably stubborn.

“I never tried to pull you in.”

Henry raised his hands as if to draw a line from now on.

“Isn’t that enough? Stop following me.”

At Henry’s firm tone, one of Edwin’s eyebrows twitched slightly.

Although it was a fleeting moment, Henry definitely saw it.

It must have been a sign of disapproval, but Henry pretended not to notice and looked away.

Now, wherever Edwin went, he intended to return to his room…

“Did you forget you clung to my carriage and pulled me along?”

“And why are you bringing that up now?”

“Since you pulled me in, I’ll only leave when I choose to.”

Despite Henry’s incredulous expression, Edwin walked into the room first, continuing as if nothing was wrong.

“That’s my room.”

How is he acting so naturally? Henry watched in disbelief as Edwin walked in as if it were his own room.

“Really, what’s with him? He never used to be this clingy.”

In the novel, Edwin had shown no interest in Henry at all.

But ever since this journey began, Edwin had always been in Henry’s sight.

“Should I tell him off properly? No…”

Henry pouted, contemplating whether to drag Edwin out.

But then he seemed to have thought of something, and a sly smile spread across his face.

“I’ll handle this.”

Sir Teher started to move, but Henry stopped him.

“Leave it.”

“Are you sure?”

Sir Teher asked, concerned, but Henry gave a mischievous smile.

He lowered his voice, ensuring Edwin inside wouldn’t hear.

“The more you know, the harder it is to get out. So just let him listen. If any problems arise, I can always drag Edwin into it too.”

“After all, he’s from a good family,” Henry added, and Sir Teher stepped back without another word.

“Maybe I should see if I can get anything out of that duke’s family. But why did he close the door when he knew I was coming in?”

Henry grumbled about Edwin’s lack of courtesy, then deliberately flung the door open with force, hoping to startle Edwin.

“Are you doing well with your heir training?”

While waiting for the guild leader, Violet, Henry suddenly asked Edwin.

It was such an absurd question that even Henry, who asked it, realized it.

He had just been thinking about various ways to stabilize the guild when it occurred to him to use Edwin.

As he had told Sir Teher earlier, since Edwin had chosen to stay and listen, Henry thought he might as well demand something from him if he could.

Of course, at this moment, he didn’t need Edwin’s help, but it was all about the future.

It would be better to have a duke rather than just an heir.

If you owe someone in power, whether through debt or kindness, you might get double the return.

“Actually, you should secure your position.”

Henry, the only son of the duke’s family, encouraged Edwin, urging him to do well. Edwin’s pheromones started to emanate in response to Henry’s nonsensical remark.

They had been subtly present earlier, but now they were thick like a fog.

Henry discreetly shook his head and opened the window.

He needed to change the stifling air and let Edwin’s pheromones out.

While leaning on the windowsill and gazing outside, Henry heard Edwin’s question.

“Who are you?”

“Me?”

Henry turned halfway, pointing at himself, tilting his head in confusion.

“Aren’t you the heir?”

“Yes… I am.”

Henry was indeed the heir to the duke’s household.

So, if someone were to ask if he was receiving training as an heir…

To be honest, he wasn’t sure.

After all, he had been so focused on playing the role of a villain, committing various bad deeds, that he hadn’t paid attention to much else.

‘I guess I’ll have to figure that out when I return.’

Since he had decided to live as Henry, securing a stable future was important.

Up until now, he had been so focused on breaking away from Edwin that he hadn’t considered much else.

“I need to secure my position too.”

After giving an appropriate answer, Henry subtly gauged Edwin’s reaction.

Then, leaning against the window sill with his arms crossed, a thought suddenly came to him, sparked by the lingering pheromones that had filled the room.

“Hey, listen to this. Don’t take it the wrong way.”

Although Edwin didn’t say anything, Henry knew he was listening.

Taking a deep breath, Henry cautiously started speaking.

“Since you’re going to be the duke eventually… you need to know how to control your pheromones as a noble, not just let them out whenever. I’m not saying this because of your situation, but… well, I’m a beta. So I’m also learning about this in theory, and you should too, so don’t shy away from it.”

Henry added various things to his explanation to ensure that Edwin wouldn’t take offense.

“You and I need to know this as future dukes. There’s no other reason for it.”

So please, stop releasing those pheromones.

Although Henry had a deeper motive, he maintained an innocent expression.

He couldn’t stress enough how much those pheromones bothered him.

It wasn’t just the intensity, which was enough to make his heart race, but the fact that they were constantly present.

“I’m only saying this because we need to become dukes. I’m completely excluding any personal feelings.”

In truth, he was saying this purely for personal reasons.

Henry had more than once found himself in uncomfortable situations because of Edwin’s pheromones.

It wasn’t just that he could sense them—it was the emotions that came with them that bothered him.

I wish I could just be like everyone else and not know anything about you.

Henry glanced at Edwin’s expression to see how he would react.

As usual, his face was emotionless. He didn’t seem particularly offended, so Henry hesitated about whether to add another word.

“I’m saying this for your own good.”

I’m saying this for my own good, Edwin. So please, control your pheromones.

Henry hoped that his words would have some effect on Edwin.

Even if others couldn’t sense his pheromones, as a noble, he should at least be mindful of controlling them.

Of course, Edwin wasn’t at fault.

He wasn’t intentionally using his pheromones to manipulate everyone.

Since no one else could sense them, he didn’t see a reason to control them. It was like telling a ghost with a conscious mind to hide its presence.

‘I really hope he understands.’

Since he couldn’t outright say, “I can sense your pheromones,” Henry just hoped Edwin would think about his words.

He stepped away from the window sill, hoping Edwin would take a moment to consider his advice.

His throat was parched, perhaps from talking more than expected. Just as Henry was about to take a step forward…

“Huh?”
