Why am I stranded in this shitty Island again? chapter 60

* * *

“Oh… no! I’m sorry! I’m Minjae, the cute youngest member of DinoSoul. What brings you to this humble place…?”

“Your hyung brought me here.”

Just like he did with the Zeus members, Minjae stood in front of Jisoo and greeted politely.

Dansol was busy fussing over Minjae’s scratches and the half-cast on his wrist, feeling sorry for him.

Even though Dansol was still very young and inexperienced to balance a difficult social life while taking care of others, he took on the leader role and looked after the younger members.

Meanwhile, Jisoo , despite being a young child with barely any fuzz on his cheeks, felt uneasy seeing Dansol’s affectionate care for others.

‘Four recessive Alphas and three Betas who haven’t even manifested yet… our Dansol is the only Omega!’

Jisoo , who had spent half his life reacting keenly to others’ traits to hide his own, could immediately identify the members’ traits.

Even if the Omega was recessive, putting an Omega and an Alpha in the same dorm was unheard of.

While it wasn’t uncommon to see groups formed with different traits, sharing a cramped dorm with few rooms was a different story.

From the beginning, when he heard it was a substandard, damp-smelling basement dorm for a group with a 120 Billion won (around 90Million USD) backing, he suspected the agency’s CEO was full of greed.

“Where’s Woohyun?”

Dansol, checking the members’ conditions, realized one was missing and looked around.

With so many members, it was hard to notice if one or two were absent, but Dansol, who always prioritized looking after the younger members, quickly realized it was Woohyun.

Dansol asked Minjae, who had been staring at Jisoo and then at the fruit basket Jisoo brought.

“Ah… Woohyun hyung is more severely injured than us…”

Seeing Dansol’s face turn pale at the news, Minjae hurriedly waved his hands, trying to explain.

“Not really! It wasn’t that bad… but he kept running away saying he had to watch Hyung’s performance, so he only went for treatment just now.”

“How badly is he hurt?”

“Uh… he broke his leg.”

Ha. Dansol sighed deeply.

While he hadn’t completely believed that it wasn’t serious, he hadn’t expected it to be this bad.

“But Hyung, what about all our events and schedules?”

“Why are you worrying about that right now?!”

Dansol, not realizing Jisoo was beside him, yelled out in anger.

Minjae’s eyebrows drooped into a sad shape.

Had he been too harsh on the already hurt kid?

“Minjae, don’t worry about that and just rest. Gilsung Hyung will talk to the CEO about it.”

Gilsung, who had been lying down, suddenly sat up as if wondering what was being said, but Dansol hurried out of the hospital room.

Feeling suffocated, he went out to the terrace, and Jisoo followed him.

“Is that the company policy at DinoSoul? Why are you all so eager to push yourselves like this?”

“What?”

Jisoo asked, his voice filled with a mix of worry and frustration.

Dansol tilted his head, not understanding what Jisoo meant, until the following words made it clear.

“You were like that too, remember? When you got hit by Jung Daesoo’s ball.”

“Oh…!”

It was when he had been hit by Daesoo’s ball at full power and lost consciousness.

Jisoo had scolded him back then, just like now, for worrying about ruining the broadcast because of him.

The sudden memory made Dansol chuckle.

He felt embarrassed, realizing he was now imitating Jisoo in front of Minjae, despite being in no position to do so.

“Back then! I wasn’t hurt this badly, though.”

“A ball thrown by Daesoo might be faster than a car at that moment, you know?”

“Is that… so…?”

Dansol quietly felt grateful to be alive after getting hit by that ball.

“Hyung!”

Just then, Woohyun, on crutches, called out to Dansol as he stepped off the elevator.

Meeting like this after a fight felt awkward for Woohyun, but Dansol immediately voiced his worries, as if they’d never argued.

“Woohyun! Are you okay? I heard you were stubborn about delaying your treatment. Why did you do that? What did the doctor say? Are you alright?”

“Uh… yeah, I’m fine. Hyung, have you eaten?”

“Is my meal the issue right now?! Seriously, you guys…!”

“Hyung, I’m hungry. Buy me some food.”

Woohyun grabbed Dansol’s hand, stopping him from scolding furthim.

Seeing this, Jisoo couldn’t help but feel his expression harden.

Noticing Jisoo ’s grim aura, Woohyun finally looked away from Dansol to Jisoo .

“Ah… Hyung gave me a ride here.”

“Oh, thank you.”

Jisoo didn’t feel particularly happy about Woohyun’s thanks.

“I don’t think I’ve done anything to deserve your thanks. Sol, let’s go. I’ll buy you food.”

Feigning nonchalance, Jisoo grabbed Dansol’s wrist as well.

He found it amusing how he was feeling competitive with this young, inexperienced kid.

Even though the alpha guys at Chunmong Pavilion were annoying enough, dealing with seven of these kinds of guys was another matter.

Jisoo briefly wondered if his retirement fund could support both him and Dansol.

“Oh…! No, I’ll buy…!”

“Sol, do you have any money? You left everything in the car, didn’t you? And you stayed at Taeoh’s place last night.”

Jisoo recalled how Dansol had changed clothes in the car, awkwardly fumbling with an oversized hoodie.

Dansol, oblivious to Jisoo ’s tightening expression due to Taeoh’s scent on his clothes, started recounting everything from his fight with Woohyun to how he ended up at a PC bang being chased by high schoolers until Taeoh rescued him.

“Ma Taeoh?! Hyung stayed at Zeus’s dorm?”

“Uh… yeah…”

“Geez…! I thought you were safe because Minjae said you were fine…! Why didn’t you just sleep on the street…!”

Woohyun’s expression twisted as he scolded Dansol.

Dansol, glancing nervously at Jisoo , quickly covered Woohyun’s mouth.

“Hey! What are you saying to Hyung…!”

Jisoo stepped in, separating the two who were on the verge of another fight, and shifted the topic to the kind of food that kids their age liked most.

“Enough, I’ll buy the food. Let’s go.”

“I’m buying!”

Despite Woohyun’s grumpy tone as he led the way, when they arrived at the seolleongtang restaurant inside the hospital, it was Jisoo who ended up paying for their meal.

“Thank you… I left my wallet in the car… as you know, our car is wrecked… and you even bought for our members…”

“It’s fine, just eat and get better. Dansol is really worried about you.”

While Dansol was in the bathroom, Woohyun awkwardly thanked Jisoo . Even after that, Woohyun seemed to have more to say, his lips twitching.

“Do you have something to say?”

“Um… just, thank you.”

“For what?”

“For everything… taking care of Dansol. Honestly, when he said he was joining that show, I was really worried. Everyone there is so famous… but you’ve been looking out for him… he’s not getting any hate and he’s getting good screen time. I really wanted to thank you, even if no one else did.”

Unaware of whether the person in front of him was an alpha lusting after Dansol or an omega showing genuine kindness, Woohyun kept thanking Jisoo .

“We think… we might just fade away and end our careers in obscurity. We know how hard it is for everyone to succeed… but we really want Dansol to keep being a celebrity.”

Among Dansol’s members, he did have the most striking looks and presence.

He was also the only omega, with such an otherworldly atmosphere that it made one curious about the agency head’s intention in grouping them together.

“I know this is an overreaching request, but I hope you can continue to stay by Dansol’s side… as a good older brother.”

A good older brother, huh?

Jisoo wasn’t confident. He was barely holding back the urge to lock Dansol up and keep him all to himself.

“Hyung! The takeout is ready! Woohyun, let’s go up.”

“I’ll carry it for you. You need to get home; I’ll give you a ride.”

“Oh…! No, Hyung. I’m planning to stay here for the night. I have some things to discuss with the guys…”

“Then I’ll just carry the takeout for you. Let’s go.”

Jisoo insisted on taking the heavy takeout bags from Dansol’s hands.

Being especially kind to Dansol was second nature to Jisoo , but Woohyun, misunderstanding the situation, gave him a double thumbs-up from an angle where Dansol couldn’t see.

Seeing this, Jisoo ‘s expression hardened, and he muttered under his breath with a furrowed brow.

“What’s up with him, seriously…”

Jisoo secretly sighed as he watched the scene unfold.

Things were spiraling out of control, against his own heart’s wishes.

He should have sorted everything out before meeting Dansol.

Or maybe if he had, he wouldn’t have met Dansol at all.

From the start, revealing his abilities was a mistake.

In this situation where there was no one else to blame but himself, Jisoo was overwhelmed with frustration.
