Did the Demon King file his taxes today? Chapter 5: Whose Holy Maiden is a Rice Bucket! (1)

In the pitch-black late night, the empty corridor seemed particularly quiet. The Demon King withdrew his hand from the wall.

“There’s no trace left.”

Lin Lin sighed. She didn’t really have any hope. Since that dark creature dared to offend her in the Demon King’s castle, it must have a way to escape unscathed.

“Are you scared?” The Demon King turned around, facing Lin Lin. “Do you want to sleep with me?”

The Demon King himself was not familiar with the emotion of fear, but he learned from the knowledgeable and talented dragon clan that humans are very fragile creatures and need to be treated with care.

Although it was just a casual mention by the dragon clan, the Demon King found it very novel and made a serious note of it. He had never treated any life with such care before.

Thinking of this, the Demon King, with his eyes of violet, carefully observed the human who was much smaller in stature. It was like looking at a fragile flower bud.

The fragile human, who had been classified as a priority protection target, was completely unaware.

Lin Lin yawned, “No, sleeping too close to my boss gives me nightmares.”

Knowing that she couldn’t beat any creature in this castle, Lin Lin felt a kind of relaxed resignation. She would be nervous when she needed to be and indifferent when she needed to be.

The Demon King smiled, “How was your dinner tonight?”

Obviously not good, Lin Lin recalled the pain of swallowing dry millet and grimaced.

The Demon King reached out to her, and Lin Lin opened her palm. The slender fingertips of the youth lightly touched her palm, and in her hand lay five shiny gold coins.

It was Lin Lin’s first encounter with the currency of this world, and she couldn’t help but gently touch the uneven patterns on the coin. It was a quite beautiful floral pattern.

Sensing Lin Lin’s slight movement, the Demon King raised the corners of his lips.

“This is an advance payment of your salary. Tomorrow, you can go find something you like to eat,” the Demon King said, “You should be happier before you work again.”

‘You should be happier.’

You’re the Demon King, how can you speak like an angel!

Lin Lin raised her head, somewhat wary.

“You’re not going to assign me some terrible extra work, are you?”

The kindness of a boss is like a shell-coated bomb. Lin Lin, a senior corporate slave, was half scared by it.

The Demon King remained silent for two seconds.

The Demon King said, “You don’t have to work tomorrow, so I’ll deduct a day’s leave from you.”

Lin Lin breathed a sigh of relief and patted her chest, “Of course.”

The boss got it right, feeling relieved, and felt secure with the money.

The boar can’t eat the fine bran.

In the spacious bedroom, a ray of sunlight leaked out from the curtains, shining on the pure black bed.

This bedroom, with the best lighting in the entire Demon King’s castle, was reserved for the fragile, needy human.

The door was rhythmically knocked three times, and a fair arm stretched out from under the covers. Lin Lin tried twice before successfully pulling her head out of the pillow.

After washing her face hastily, Lin Lin, still sleepy, pushed open the door and saw the young man standing outside.

Lin Lin remembered what the Demon King had said yesterday, that someone would take her out to find food that humans could eat.

The Dark Elf, Felix.

Lin Lin once very naively asked, “How do I recognize him?”

The reply from His Majesty the Demon King was very simple, “He’s black.”

Lin Lin also speculated that he might be an elf with jet-black hair.

Now that she truly saw this dark elf, Lin Lin realized how fitting it was for His Majesty the Demon King to be described as “black.”

The tall and slender dark elf stood outside the door with crossed arms, a cold and indifferent expression. His skin was jet black, and despite having the elegant features and graceful figure of the elven race, no one would mistake him for anything but a creature of darkness.

He was cloaked, with the hood covering most of his face, allowing a few silvery strands of hair to peek out from underneath.

Unlike the towering figures of the Demon King and the Dragon Clan, the dark elf Felix had a physique closer to that of a slender human. Lin Lin looked up at him, her face tilted upwards. From her angle, she could see his ice-like silver eyes and similarly colored, long eyelashes.

Felix allowed Lin Lin to scrutinize him. He was all too familiar with this kind of scrutiny.

Unlike the “Demon King” who grew up obediently in the castle, the dark elf Felix was born in the turbulent and dangerous Spider Forest.

After escaping from his family, Felix became a dangerous assassin, wandering on the fringes of various groups. Dark elves were naturally adept at such dirty work, which made humans both fearful and respectful of him.

They were worried that a single word might anger the eccentric dark elf, yet they also hoped that their enemies would be foolish enough to provoke such a formidable monster.

Therefore, when a skilled dark elf who was good at concealing himself did not particularly hide his presence, he could always feel the surreptitious stares around him.

Felix knew that Lin Lin’s curious gaze had swept over his jawline and the elven pointed ears adorned with mithril earrings.

He felt a bit annoyed. Because the one scrutinizing him was a human female.

Dark elves were a matriarchal race, and Felix had been indoctrinated from a young age that even abuse from a female, albeit rare among dark elves, was a blessing. This belief persisted until he personally killed his own clan leader.

During Felix’s nomadic life, he discovered that humans were different from dark elves.

Human females were often seen as weaker beings. According to the dark elves’ belief in the strong ruling over the weak, women in human society were considered even lower in status.

Now, due to the Demon King’s orders, he had to endure being scrutinized and commanded by a weak human female, as if he had returned to the days of being insulted and tortured by female dark elves in his youth.

Felix felt a subtle, offended, and somewhat unpleasant feeling.

Everything about the dark elf was restrained, and the human female causing him trouble was completely unaware of it.

Lin Lin felt a bit embarrassed by waking up late.

“Can you wait a few minutes? I’ll change my clothes.”

The elf under the cloak nodded slightly.

Lin Lin closed the door again and hurried to the wardrobe.

The heavy and spacious wardrobe revealed a crowded collection of dresses upon opening.

The dresses inside were all to the liking of His Majesty the Demon King, extravagant and elaborate, taking up a lot of space.

Lin Lin struggled to pull out a relatively simple and refreshing white long dress from inside.
