I am not a Yandere chapter 134

* * *

After about five minutes, Seonwoo placed his phone down and turned to speak to Eungyeol, who was scrolling through social media.

“Yeongdeok wants to meet tomorrow. Do you know why?”

“As if I’d know that…”

Since he wasn’t a mind reader, Eungyeol could only shrug.

“What do you think, Eungyeol? Do you think I have a chance?”

Seonwoo looked at him with eager eyes, waiting for a response.

Once again, Eungyeol couldn’t give a clear answer—he wasn’t Yeongdeok, after all.

“It depends on what you do, doesn’t it?”

He responded vaguely, smiling gently.

He simply supported any choice Yeongdeok made, whether it was Seonwoo or Jihoon.

‘Then why not try some fried chicken?’

‘Dowon, is this your first time at the cinema?’

Dowon recalled Eungyeol’s voice ringing in his ears.

He enjoyed their time together.

When he was with Eungyeol, his colorless, grayscale world seemed to overflow with vivid colors.

It was Eungyeol who had awakened these feelings, who taught him things he hadn’t known before.

And so, Dowon couldn’t help but wonder: if Eungyeol left, what would become of him?

If Eungyeol, who’d introduced spring into his life, left him behind in the middle of winter and never returned…

A torrent of emotions overwhelmed him, yet he couldn’t grasp why.

It was only natural—he was someone designed to struggle with understanding feelings.

Waking up, Yeongdeok realized he’d been dreaming of Eungyeol and clicked his tongue.

Must’ve been a nonsense dream.

Or maybe it was that annoying author, PetitRolang, pulling strings.

The early hour left his surroundings still cloaked in darkness.

Thinking he should head home, Yeongdeok got up, but as he entered the living room, he saw Jihoon sleeping on the couch without a blanket.

Although the door was in the opposite direction, he felt drawn to Jihoon and approached him.

Up close, Jihoon’s shirt had ridden up slightly, showing his stomach as he slept soundly.

He looked even more foolish than usual, prompting Yeongdeok to mutter under his breath with a small sigh.

“…Hopeless guy.”

Yeongdeok fetched a blanket from the bedroom and gently placed it over him. In his sleep, Jihoon mumbled in a drowsy voice.

“Mmm…Hyung?”

“Just go back to sleep.”

As Jihoon’s eyes fluttered open, Yeongdeok placed his hand over them, coaxing him to rest. Jihoon obediently drifted back to sleep.

Listening to Jihoon’s calm breathing, as if he didn’t have a care in the world, Yeongdeok left the house.

The hallway offered a view of the early dawn, peaceful and unchanging.

Leaning against the railing, Yeongdeok watched the scene for a while.

After morning came and went, it was noon.

Though Yeongdeok initially planned to meet Wonjin to steer him off the original story’s path, he felt oddly hesitant and ended up inviting Seonwoo first.

“Yeongdeok!”

Hearing his name, Yeongdeok turned to see Seonwoo rushing toward him through the crowd, waving enthusiastically when their eyes met.

Though he thought Seonwoo might trip at this rate, Yeongdeok waved back anyway.

When Seonwoo finally reached him, he caught his breath, apologizing for being out of breath.

“I came twenty minutes early, but I didn’t think Cha Yeongdeok would arrive before me. Sorry to keep you waiting.”

“No, it’s fine. I didn’t wait long.”

When Yeongdeok flashed a gentle smile and assured him it was okay, Seonwoo blinked his wide eyes a few times, clearly intrigued.

With a curious look, Seonwoo began poking at Yeongdeok’s cheek, kneading his shoulder, and ruffling his hair as he fussed around him.

Yeongdeok felt a surge of irritation at Seonwoo’s inability to sit still and his constant pestering, but he kept his composure and asked as pleasantly as possible.

“What are you doing?”

“You’re the one acting strange. You’re not your usual self.”

The Yeongdeok that Seonwoo knew never smiled at him, waved, or stayed still when touched.

Seonwoo glanced at him with suspicion.

The situation felt oddly familiar to Yeongdeok, reminding him of an encounter he’d had with Wonjin.

“Your style’s different, even the way you’re speaking.”

Seonwoo tilted his head in puzzlement, while Yeongdeok only responded with a calm smile.

“Let’s not stand here. Let’s go inside and talk.”

Feigning friendliness, Yeongdeok grabbed Seonwoo’s arm.

Although Seonwoo was usually the one who would joke around with Yeongdeok, his heart suddenly raced as he felt Yeongdeok hold on to him.

He stammered, almost robotic.

“W-What’s with you today…?”

Despite the slight tremble of his lips, Seonwoo didn’t pull away.

Instead, he held onto Yeongdeok’s arm more tightly, as though he had no intention of letting go.

Once they entered the dessert buffet, they were greeted by a display of charming sweets: cakes, macarons, cookies, and seasonal fruits.

As they took their seats, Yeongdeok placed a shopping bag on the table with a heavy thud.

The bag had such a strong presence that Seonwoo couldn’t help but ask about it.

“What’s with the shopping bag?”

“It’s yours.”

“Mine? You mean it’s a gift for me?”

Yeongdeok didn’t think what was in the bag quite qualified as a gift, but he nodded since the general meaning was close enough.

A gift from Cha Yeongdeok? Seonwoo thought it was almost surreal, as if the sun might rise in the west tomorrow.

He didn’t expect anything “normal” from Yeongdeok, but knowing it was something bought just for him was enough to make him happy.

“Can I see what it is?”

“Go ahead.”

Yeongdeok readily pushed the bag toward Seonwoo, who reached in with trembling hands.

Even if it had only contained a cheap candy, Seonwoo was sure he would’ve been thrilled.

But inside the bag, he found various items like joint-protection gloves and a wrist massager—items all meant for his hands.

“What… what’s all this?”

Seonwoo looked up, wide-eyed in confusion, seeking an explanation from Yeongdeok.

“It’s for you to take care of your hands.”

Yeongdeok hadn’t forgotten that in the original story, Seonwoo’s hands had been ruined because of him.

In this life, he had no intention of hurting any of the potential love interests, including Eungyeol, but he couldn’t shake the worry that something might still go wrong with Seonwoo’s hands, due to either a PetitRolang accident or another reason.

Just as spilled water can’t be put back, damaged hands couldn’t be fully restored either.

He didn’t want Seonwoo to end up like in the original story, so he figured a firm warning was necessary.

“Value your hands more than your life. Don’t be reckless with them.”

Seonwoo wondered if this meant Yeongdeok was worried about him, and he wiggled his fingers, feeling a mix of excitement and gratitude.

A pleasant shiver ran down his spine, his heart racing like it had been attacked.

Unable to contain himself, he grinned widely.

“Thank you, Cha Yeongdeok, for caring about me.”

Yeongdeok didn’t care for him at all.

He’d done it solely for his own sake.

That’s why being thanked by Seonwoo made him feel uncomfortable. In truth, he was just using him.

This thought brought back something PetitRolang had once said: ‘In the end, you’re just Cha Dowon.’

PetitRolang’s voice, which tormented him endlessly, lingered in his ears.

Irritated by the memory, Yeongdeok suddenly stood up, hoping to change the mood.

“Let’s go get some desserts.”

“Sounds good. We came here to eat, so let’s at least grab something.”

Following Yeongdeok to the display, Seonwoo stuck close to his side.

Normally, Yeongdeok would have found it annoying and told him to keep his distance, but this time he said nothing.

Seonwoo kept noticing the oddness in Yeongdeok’s behavior today as they reached the dessert display, which was filled with delicately crafted treats that were almost too pretty to eat.

Each of them took a white plate, ready to pick out their sweets.

“What kind of dessert do you like, Cha Yeongdeok? Since you like strawberry lattes, maybe you like things with strawberries?”

Picking up a slice of strawberry shortcake with a pair of tongs, Seonwoo placed it on Yeongdeok’s plate.

“Try this, too. A macaron. Sweet and delicious.”
