‘Maybe after school, I should suggest we go somewhere’, Jihoon thought.
Like a movie theater or a PC café. Even though he’d probably complain about the choice, he’d end up enjoying it.
Having made up his mind, Jihoon called out, “Hey, Cha Yeongdeok.”
“What is it?”
“If you don’t have plans today, want to hang out with me—”
BEEP! A loud car horn blared, cutting Jihoon off.
Both of them turned to look over the railing where the sound had come from.
Amid the sea of parked cars, a clean, white vehicle stood out.
Stepping out of it was Seonwoo, wearing bright yellow sunglasses.
“Cha Yeongdeok!” Seonwoo shouted, waving like an excited puppy spotting its owner.
“What the hell is Baek Seonwoo doing here…?” Jihoon muttered with a scowl.
As Jihoon glared, gripping the railing tightly, Yeongdeok slowly descended the stairs.
He’d thought maybe he was mistaken from afar, but up close, it was definitely Baek Seonwoo.
“What brings you here?” Yeongdeok asked, suspicious.
Seonwoo replied with an innocent smile, as if the question were ridiculous.
“I came to see you, of course. I was just about to call, but what luck.”
“See me? Why?”
Instead of answering, Seonwoo grabbed both of Yeongdeok’s hands.
“It’s such a nice day! Let’s go out and have fun.”
Seonwoo’s grin was long and mischievous.
Even though Yeongdeok pulled his hands away, Jihoon had already come down the stairs.
“What are you doing here?”
Jihoon asked, his tone prickly.
Seonwoo’s gaze shifted to Jihoon, clearly displeased with his presence.
“Do you really have time to worry about me? You’d better head to school before you’re late.”
Seonwoo’s mocking tone and the way he eyed Jihoon’s backpack only added to the tension.
“I didn’t know you cared so much about my punctuality. How touching,”
Jihoon retorted sarcastically, his defiant eyes narrowing as he towered over Seonwoo.
Seonwoo responded with an annoyingly pretty smile.
“Stop bickering so early in the morning and get going. Seonwoo’s right; you’ll be late,” Yeongdeok said, giving Jihoon’s back a gentle push.
Though Jihoon hated leaving them alone, he knew that arguing with Seonwoo would only cause trouble for Yeongdeok.
Plus, he had to get to school. If Seonwoo could cheer Yeongdeok up in his absence, maybe that was enough.
Sighing, Jihoon admitted defeat. “Fine, I’m going.”
As Jihoon walked off, Seonwoo provoked him further. “Leaving so easily?”
“Unlike some people,” Jihoon shot back, “I have responsibilities.”
With that, he walked away, while Yeongdeok watched his retreating figure fade into the distance.
“Annoying, right?” Seonwoo said.
“Jihoon was just a kid when we were high schoolers.”
“So immature,” Yeongdeok muttered.
“Well, now that the obstacle’s gone, shall we get going?”
Seonwoo suggested, emphasizing “we” in a way that left Yeongdeok baffled.
“Why ‘we’? I never agreed to go anywhere with you,” Yeongdeok retorted.
“Aw, don’t be like that.”
“And where exactly do you plan to drag me?” he demanded.
“That’s a secret until we get there,” Seonwoo replied with a playful smile.
Seonwoo added with a bright smile that he couldn’t tell where they were going, but it would definitely be a place that Cha Yeongdeok would absolutely love.
“I’d prefer if you made the destination clearer.”
“Don’t worry. It’s perfectly suited to Cha Yeongdeok’s mental age.”
Hearing that, Yeongdeok suddenly felt a sense of unease that hadn’t been there before.
Yet, with Seonwoo repeatedly tugging on his arm, insisting they go, he had no choice but to climb into his car.

Seonwoo’s car finally came to a stop, aligning neatly with the white parking lines.
No sooner had Seonwoo declared their arrival than Yeongdeok stepped out of the car.
From the parking lot, towering roller coasters racing along the rails and a Ferris wheel spinning counterclockwise loomed in the distance.
“Hurry up, Mom!”
A child, much smaller than Yeongdeok, dashed past him, brimming with excitement.
Despite his usual aversion to places so far removed from the image of an obsessive, controlling lover, Yeongdeok was intrigued.
However, that curiosity quickly melted away the moment he saw the swarming mass of people gathered near the ticket booth.
“This should be fun, right? I haven’t been here since Choa got older, so I’m feeling pretty excited too.”
“Did we come here to watch crowds or something?”
“Of course not.”
Following Seonwoo, who flashed his mobile ticket, they entered the amusement park.
Everywhere they turned, rides and people crowded the space: spinning teacups that rotated 360 degrees, a Viking ship drawing out ear-splitting screams, and….
After pushing through the crowds and various rides, Yeongdeok’s steps halted in front of a carousel.
He stared at the brightly illuminated ride, sparkling with colorful lights.
“Is that what you want to ride? Your taste is totally childish, Cha Yeongdeok.”
“What are you talking about? I’ve heard of such things but only found it fascinating to see one in real life.”
Parents were bustling around, snapping photos of their children riding the carousel.
Noticing where Yeongdeok’s gaze was fixated, Seonwoo patted his back with a generous smile.
“This older brother will take a picture for you. Want to ride it, Cha Yeongdeok?”
“I’d rather you shut your insolent mouth and disappear from my sight.”
“Oh, come on. You’d get lost without me here anyway.”
Seonwoo replied with a teasing grin, gently clasping Yeongdeok’s hand.
“What are you…?”
When Yeongdeok tried to pull away, Seonwoo wiggled his fingers, gripping tighter so that Yeongdeok couldn’t escape.
“There are so many people here. We might lose each other.”
“……”
“Let’s have fun today.”
Spotting bumper cars not too far from the carousel, Seonwoo eagerly pointed them out, suggesting they try those next.
In reality, that childish taste seemed to belong more to Seonwoo.
Reluctantly, Yeongdeok let himself be dragged along by the overgrown five-year-old clinging to his hand.
“Cha Yeongdeok’s driving skills are terrible, so you’re bound to enjoy this.”
“I’d say I’m better than you at driving.”
“Yeah, right. Ask any random passerby, and they’d definitely say I’m better.”
Ahead of the bumper cars, a line of dozens of children stood packed together like sausages along the waiting fences.
Yeongdeok, about to escape this madness, was stopped as Seonwoo grabbed his shirt and pulled him back.
“It won’t take long. Just a bit longer.”
“That’s too vague. What exactly does ‘a bit’ mean?”
“Um… just a bit?”
Hearing that, Yeongdeok tried to break free again, but Seonwoo clung stubbornly to his shirt.
With fences hemming them in on either side and a growing crowd behind them, escaping seemed impossible unless Seonwoo let go.
Defeated, Yeongdeok resigned himself to waiting in line for the bumper cars.
That “bit” of waiting turned into 10 minutes, then 20, then 40.
With a grimace, he shot a glare at Seonwoo, feeling he had just wasted the most ridiculous amount of time in his life.
“So, to you, 40 minutes is ‘just a bit,’ huh?”
“Yeah, 40 minutes isn’t that bad. Look, it’s finally our turn.”
Seonwoo, unwilling to let the long wait go to waste, shoved Yeongdeok toward the bumper cars.
Forty minutes is not a long wait?
Yeongdeok was genuinely appalled at Seonwoo’s concept of time.
While Yeongdeok shot him a piercing glare, the kids raced out and claimed all the cars, leaving only a pink bumper car available.
Reluctantly, and hating the thought of wasting 40 minutes, Yeongdeok squeezed into the pink car.
The cramped space felt too tight for his tall frame, and Seonwoo, too, struggled as he fastened his seatbelt.
Once everyone was strapped in, a theme park attendant cheerfully gave safety instructions in a high-pitched voice.
With the signal given, she announced, “Now, grab the steering wheels and let’s go! Vroom vroom~!”
Stepping on the pedal, the bumper car shot forward at an exhilarating speed.
Despite the rush, this felt like child’s play for someone accustomed to actual driving.
Just as that thought crossed his mind—
Crash.
A boy, around ten years old, had rammed into the back of Yeongdeok’s car, laughing gleefully.
That little…?
