Villain wants to live as a commoner chapter 82

* * *

The memory of the day I almost had my first experience was nauseating.

The person involved was one of the researchers studying me.

She tried to rape me while I was asleep, spewing nonsensical remarks about how I was “pretty,” “handsome,” and how my face was “too good to waste as a test subject.”

“It’s your first time, right? Don’t worry, you’ll like it soon enough.”

Contrary to her brazen assurance, I felt no such thing.

When I couldn’t get aroused, she even tried using drugs to force it.

But when I couldn’t hold it in and ended up throwing up all over her, she slapped me and stormed out.

I had always thought it didn’t matter how my body, constantly used as a test subject, was treated.

But I was wrong.

Being desired by someone made me feel filthy.

It was disgusting and terrifying at the same time.

“I’m joking, so spare me the disgusting words and get out. I’m letting this slide because you’re still useful.”

Baek Gunho silently stared at me.

His gaze seemed overly analytical, as if he were observing me.

While others would tremble in fear at my words, Baek Gunho remained calm, as if he had nothing to lose, not even his life.

In truth, that seemed to be the case.

When I first met Baek Gunho, I couldn’t sense his presence at all.

It was a skill perfect for assassination, and I initially intended to use him for that purpose.

However, he flatly refused, so I relegated him to investigative tasks instead.

“Then I’ll take my leave, Guild Leader.”

Baek Gunho gave a polite bow.

Though his excuse didn’t sit well with me, I decided to let it slide for the moment.

His investigation concerned my personal matters, which were utterly useless to anyone.

No matter how deeply he dug into my past, there was nothing there to exploit.

He’d grow bored and drop it eventually.

But not long after, Baek Gunho ruined one of my plans.

It was a significant operation—a bombing attack meant to wipe out a swarm of useless pests.

And he destroyed it.

When he was dragged before me, Baek Gunho met my gaze directly.

Though I intended to kill him anyway, curiosity got the better of me, and I asked.

“What were you thinking?”

“What are you thinking, Guild Leader?”

What kind of nonsense was this? In all my time at the top, I’d never heard such drivel.
“Your father would be heartbroken.”

“What kind of nonsense—”

“Seo Hoon.”
The moment he said that name, my blood ran cold.

It was a name I had long forgotten.

Dead people held no meaning for me anymore.

But hearing that name, as if it were a vital weakness of mine, was intolerable.

I abandoned the thought of killing Baek Gunho outright.

I couldn’t let this bastard die so easily.

I had to make him suffer to the point where he’d beg me to end his life.

Baek Gunho was strong.

But in my domain, he couldn’t defeat me.

As I was about to overpower him, the direction of the force subtly shifted.

Exploiting the moment my power was neutralized, Baek Gunho drew a sword from his inventory.

“Not entirely devoid of humanity, I see.”

“You son of a—”

“That’s good. At least you’re not a fully-made monster. Maybe… another chance will come someday.”

I couldn’t understand what he meant.

After saying that, Baek Gunho slit his own throat.

Without a moment’s hesitation, as if he had planned to die from the start.

My vision turned entirely red.

I woke up.

The image of Baek Gunho’s neck spurting blood like a fountain lingered in my mind, making my chest tighten.

A vague sense of unease crept over me.

Almost as if the dream were real.

…No, that couldn’t be.

As I turned to check Baek Gunho’s face, I suddenly felt an unfamiliar sensation.

“You slept with it inside, you bastard.”

Was he insane?

As I carefully tried to pull away, Baek Gunho’s hand gripped my waist.

“What’s with you so early in the morning… so shameless.”

His deep, calm voice left me confused.

“What are you talking about?”

“I mean you, moving on your own.”

“I wasn’t—!”

Flustered, I yelled, but Baek Gunho didn’t seem to care.

He just chuckled and sat up, still inside me, causing a moan to escape from my lips.

“Ah…!”

“You’re adorable.”

Grabbing my hips, Baek Gunho lifted them and pinned me down when I tried to crawl away.

Then he pulled back and thrust forward so forcefully that it echoed with a sharp sound.

“Ah, wait—!”

“Hah… hmm…”

The sound of Baek Gunho’s breathing above me stirred something deep inside, and I was swept away in the moment.

Had today not been a weekday, we might have stayed tangled up all day.

The only reason I could walk normally afterward was probably because I was S-class.

Then again, Baek Gunho’s ability to handle me so effortlessly was also thanks to being S-class.

“Heewon, you look a bit tired today.”

“Do I?”

“Yeah. Are you okay?”

Not completely, if I were honest.

Physically, I was fine.

But maybe part of me was still shaken by the researcher’s visit yesterday.

Still, I was doing okay.

If not for Baek Gunho’s… drastic methods, I might have been in a much darker place.

Yes, I had to admit it. I still remembered that day. And I was still afraid.

But I wasn’t the same as back then.

I had the strength to fight back now.

Besides, I had people like the old man and Baek Gunho by my side.

There was nothing to fear anymore.

On my way home from work, I saw an elderly woman struggling under the weight of heavy bags.

She was carrying two large bundles, barely managing to walk.

I couldn’t just ignore her.

“Excuse me, ma’am. Would you like me to help carry those for you?”

“Oh, no, I couldn’t…”

“It’s no trouble. Please, let me.”

After some hesitation, she finally handed the bags over.

They were heavy, likely full of groceries.

Nothing for me, but far too much for someone her age.

“Which way should we go?”

“Oh, just this way. Follow me.”

She shuffled ahead, and I followed.

Her pace was slow, creating only a small gap between us.

“You’re so kind, and such a handsome young man too.”

“I’m not, really.”

“No, no, you’re wonderful. Even prettier than my granddaughter, I’d say.”

“Haha…”

Her excessive praise made me blush.

She continued complimenting me, saying she’d never met such a kind young man and even joking about setting me up with her granddaughter.

Listening to her chatter, I realized we had wandered far from my neighborhood.

The path had grown quieter, flanked by a forested hill.

The lack of proper CCTV in the area didn’t escape my notice.

With the early winter sunset, it was already getting dark.

A few streetlights were out, adding to a creeping sense of unease.

Memories of helping others only to get tangled in scams, cults, kidnappings, or worse flashed in my mind.

A warning instinct told me this wasn’t right.

“How much farther, ma’am?”

“Not far now. Just there, by that black car.”

The place the old woman pointed to was a villa two blocks away.

I’d come this far, and it would feel heartless to refuse her now.

She could be a bad person, but she might just be a harmless old lady, right?

I started walking toward the spot she indicated.

Just as I neared the house, the door of a black van suddenly swung open, and men in black suits poured out.

They grabbed me before I could say anything, expertly covering my mouth with a cloth.

“Careful… easy now, easy,” the old woman stammered, flustered.

Seriously, Grandma?

You’re on their side, so don’t act concerned now.

Instead of telling them to be gentle, how about telling them not to do this at all?

The men forced me into the van and slammed the door shut. Inside, I was left alone.

“What the…?”

They’d thrown me into the vehicle, but there was no driver.

Isn’t the first rule of kidnapping to flee the scene quickly?

Then I noticed something odd in the corner.

A laptop sat wide open.

What was this about?

As I hesitated, the screen suddenly zoomed in on someone wearing a Baekmyeon Sect.

“Ahh!” I yelped in shock, stumbling back.

The mask was entirely white, smooth and featureless except for holes at the eyes, which curved upward in a crescent-like shape, giving the impression of a sly smile.

— Hello, Seo Heewon.

The masked figure spoke in a faint, slightly amused female voice, unaltered by any audio manipulation.

— I’ve wanted to meet you. I regret having to invite you in this way, but…

“What are you?”

— I am a seer of the Black Sea Guild. Can we talk for a moment?

A seer from the Black Sea Guild?

I hadn’t expected to encounter someone so significant.

Not like this, anyway.

Sure, they were wearing a mask and speaking through a video call, but for someone in their position to reach out to me so directly was surprising.

What now? Run?

It wasn’t like the person on the screen could physically harm me.

Report this? Well, there wasn’t anyone here in person, so I could just walk away.

— You seem to be considering your options. Why don’t we just talk?

“Why should I?”

— Wouldn’t it be better to gain something from this, even for yourself?

The masked figure’s words gave me pause.

On second thought, that wasn’t wrong.

I didn’t like being abducted into a van, but if things got dicey, I could always escape.

After all, I still had Baek Gunho’s tracker on me.

“What do you want to talk about?”

— Let’s start with a little about myself.

Not a bad start. I decided to hear them out.
