I am not a Yandere chapter 12

* * *

Inspired by the chicken he had eaten before, Dowon continued to devote himself to researching how to make an even tastier chicken.

Unaware of the passage of time, from morning to night, he fried chicken for days on end. His efforts seemed to pay off as the flavor of his chicken gradually improved.

Dowon placed the freshly fried chicken on a plate.

The golden batter that covered the plump chicken looked quite splendid.

When he stripped off a piece of meat and put it into his mouth, the exterior was crispy, the inside moist, and the flavor was both clean and rich, avoiding any greasiness.

“This is delicious.”

How many chickens had he fried to achieve this result?

Satisfied with the chicken he had created, Dowon smiled slightly. He hadn’t expected to succeed in such a short time.

Even Dowon was surprised by his own competence.

Now that he had perfected the chicken’s flavor…

Dowon thought it was time to get a Class 1 driver’s license.

True to his nature, Dowon did not delay.

On the day he decided to get his license, he promptly went to a driving school and registered for classes.

“Buckle your seatbelt, start the engine.”

Today was the day for road practice. Sitting in the driver’s seat, Dowon followed the instructor’s instructions obediently.

“Alright, try pressing the accelerator once.”

Since it was his first time driving a car after obtaining his Class 2 license, Dowon stepped on the accelerator with all his might.

Startled, the instructor hit the emergency brake, causing both their bodies to lurch forward.

“Don’t press it so hard, gently. Let’s try gently.”

Following the instructor’s words, Dowon gently pressed the accelerator.

Even after getting on the road, he continued to drive slowly, moving like a turtle at 20 km/h while the other cars sped by at 60 km/h.

“It’s better to go at least 40 km/h. Otherwise, the cars behind us…”

“Hmm.”

The instructor was certainly talkative.

However, Dowon neither agreed nor disagreed and simply followed the instructor’s guidance.

“Good. Now, let’s try increasing the speed a bit more.”

Dowon pressed the accelerator a bit harder and maintained a steady 60 km/h.

“Now, let’s change lanes once. Turn on the right indicator, don’t reduce speed, and make it smooth.”

Dowon lifted the indicator lever and smoothly turned the steering wheel to the right.

“Good. Now, let’s try going left.”

Having just practiced this, Dowon easily changed lanes again. It wasn’t too difficult.

“Now, from here… No, wait. Suddenly, a car!”

The instructor was startled by a car that suddenly cut in front of them and hit the emergency brake. Both Dowon and the instructor’s bodies shook.

“Why did that car cut in like that? Are you alright?”

“I’m fine. But look, it seems someone’s getting out of the car.”

They saw the driver getting out of the dark sedan they had almost collided with.

“We should get out too, just in case.”

Following the instructor’s suggestion, Dowon turned on the hazard lights and got out of the car.

“I’m sorry. I merged in too suddenly….”

The driver, with a very apologetic expression, bowed repeatedly to Dowon and the instructor.

However, the driver’s face seemed strangely familiar. When their eyes met, Dowon realized.

“Oh? Mr. Cha—”

“Oh no.”

Dowon immediately turned around to get back in the car, but Wonjin quickly grabbed his arm.

He had changed his phone number and moved to shake him off, so why did this man have to appear here?

Meeting Wonjin was a hundred times more exhausting than the near-miss accident.

“Mr. Cha, what are you doing here? You even changed your number and moved houses.”

“As you can see, I’m practicing for a driving test.”

“Are you getting a Class 1 license?”

Wonjin glanced skeptically at the white practice truck.

Dowon quickly assessed Wonjin and his car.

There wasn’t any damage from the near-collision, so there didn’t seem to be any issues.

He told the instructor they should leave, but Wonjin grabbed his arm again.

“Give me your number before you go. Everyone’s been asking me about your whereabouts.”

“I refuse. Why should I?”

At Dowon’s refusal, Wonjin’s lips twitched. At that moment, the instructor handed a business card to Wonjin.

“We didn’t actually collide, but if there’s any issue, please contact us here.”

“No, that’s not…”

“Let’s just go.”

Dowon coldly shook off Wonjin’s arm and got back in the car.

“That was a scare. It’s a good thing there wasn’t an accident…”

The instructor spoke with relief, but to Dowon, just meeting Wonjin was as good as a major accident.

“Let’s drive carefully, paying attention in all directions.”

“Got it.”

With that, Dowon managed to complete the planned road practice, albeit with some twists and turns.

Returning to the driving school, Dowon got out of the truck and began to make his way to finish what he had planned to do today.

As he tried to leave the school, he saw Wonjin standing at the exit.

Did he find the place by reading the school’s name on the truck?

Dowon looked around, wondering if there was another way out, but seeing no other exit, he decided to just push through and walked past him.

“Mr. Cha…”

The moment Wonjin saw Dowon, he reached out, trying to get his attention, but Dowon pretended not to notice and walked straight ahead.

Despite being ignored, Wonjin persistently followed him.

At this point, Dowon wondered if this man wasn’t more suited to being obsessive rather than simply persistent.

He wanted to ask PetitRolang to change the keywords.

“You weren’t always this reckless. Why now…?”

Dowon just let out a hollow laugh at Wonjin’s question.

“You’ve been acting quite strangely lately, Mr. Cha. Why are you even getting a Class 1 license?”

“Why should I tell you?”

“Well, that’s…”

Wonjin bit his lower lip. Without saying anything more, Dowon continued walking to the nearby bus stop.

Wonjin kept following him, seemingly determined to follow wherever he went. Dowon let out a deep sigh.

“Don’t you think it’s time for you to go? It looks like you have plans, judging by your attire.”

He said this, noticing that despite it being a weekend, Wonjin was dressed neatly.

“That’s not an important appointment. But seriously, are you thinking of taking the bus?”

Wonjin furrowed his brows as if he couldn’t believe it.

Dowon didn’t reply. When on earth is the number 7 bus coming?

“I’ll give you a ride in my car.”

“That’s not necessary. I saw you driving earlier, and it looked pretty dangerous.”

“That was just a mistake. You know my driving skills, Director.”

“I still don’t like it.”

“…Um, Director, did I do something wrong to you?”

Wrong?

At those words, Dowon finally turned his head slightly to look at Wonjin, who was about the same height as him.

“Why do you think that?”

“All of a sudden, you’re avoiding eye contact, not responding… It just feels strange.”

Wonjin’s eyebrows curved into a worried shape. Watching Wonjin’s expression, Dowon turned back to the road at the sound of the bus stopping.

The number 7 bus they’d been waiting for had arrived. Dowon silently headed for the bus.

“Director Cha…”

“Don’t call me Director Cha or Mr. Cha anymore. No, please don’t. It’s unpleasant.”

Dowon made a point of using formal language, deciding he would continue to do so until Wonjin stopped being informal first.

Once on the bus, Dowon swiped his card smoothly.

There were no empty seats on the bus today. Grabbing a handle near the back door, he looked out the window and saw Wonjin’s bewildered face through the glass.

soon the front door closed, and the bus moved forward energetically.

‘I hope we never have to meet again.’

Dowon found looking at Wonjin’s face uncomfortable.

Whenever he saw Wonjin’s face, it stirred something unsettling inside him.
