Picking up the child of a superstar he went to the baby variety show chapter 6

* * *

He had no fever last night. Did he catch a cold while taking care of him in the morning?

Feeling both heartbroken and anxious, Jian Zhile hurriedly picked up the child. “An An, I’ll take you to the hospital.”

When he himself had a fever, Jian Zhile would just take some medicine and get through it. But a child’s fever was a serious matter. He had no experience taking care of children and didn’t dare to be careless.

This was also his first time going to the pediatrics department.

It was a flurry of activity. After registering An An, he saw that many other children were also waiting to see the doctor. Fortunately, a fever was considered an emergency, so they didn’t have to wait long.

After an examination.

The doctor used a stethoscope, frowning slightly.

Jian Zhile’s heart tightened. He cautiously asked, “Is there a problem?”

The doctor put away the stethoscope with a slightly serious expression. She looked at Jian Zhile and said, “Your child’s heart function seems to have some issues. Have you had him checked before?”

Jian Zhile was stumped.

He had just found An An and had only been with him for a short time. How could he know about the child’s health condition?

The doctor adjusted her glasses and sighed silently. “We need to bring down his fever first and admit him for observation. You should go pay the fees, and then we’ll arrange a CT scan for him.”

Jian Zhile memorized everything and nodded, “Thank you.”

After running around, he finally got An An settled and on an IV.

In the afternoon, sunlight filtered through the windows. Jian Zhile sat by the hospital bed, looking at his bank account balance and requesting leave from his part-time job managers.

Suddenly.

A soft cough came from the child.

Jian Zhile looked up and saw An An lying on the hospital bed, his face pale, his eyes half-opened, calling softly, “Daddy…”

“Are you okay?” Jian Zhile held his small hand, asking, “Is there any discomfort?”

Because the child’s voice was faint.

Jian Zhile leaned closer. An An shook his head lightly, his long eyelashes fluttering like little fans. He said, “My body feels hot.”

The fever hadn’t subsided yet.

Jian Zhile felt his forehead and said softly, “You have a fever. It’ll go away soon.”

He thought the child would be happy to hear this.

An An, however, looked up cautiously and asked, “Daddy, is An An being naughty?”

Jian Zhile’s heart tightened. Looking at the sick child, he felt a pang of sorrow. He gently smoothed the child’s messy hair and said softly, “Of course not. You’re just sick. Everyone gets sick sometimes. Once you take the medicine and get a good sleep, you’ll be fine.”

An An’s eyes curved into little crescents as he asked in a babyish voice, “Will I be better when I wake up?”

Jian Zhile nodded gently. “Of course. Do you want to sleep now?”

An An nodded eagerly, “Yes!”

Jian Zhile patted his small head gently. “Then sleep well.”

The afternoon sunlight gradually slanted, and the child’s breathing soon became steady. Children fall asleep quickly, and An An was no exception. Jian Zhile tucked him in carefully, moving gently.

A parent in the next bed, who was also staying with their child, glanced over and spoke up, “Your child is really well-behaved.”

Jian Zhile nodded, “Yes, he is.”

“Oh.” The woman responded, looking at Jian Zhile and then at the sleeping An An. She smiled and said, “He is so cute.”

Jian Zhile looked at the child on the bed, his short hair framing his face. Even though he was sick, An An didn’t cry or fuss, making him especially endearing. Despite the short time they’d spent together, Jian Zhile genuinely liked this child.

Adjusting his position to make the child more comfortable, Jian Zhile smiled gently

. “Thank you. Your child is also very cute.”

The woman said directly, “Oh, don’t be so polite with me. My kid is a troublemaker, looks nothing like me, takes after his dad. But your child, he’s really adorable. Especially that nose, looks just like yours, really handsome!”

Jian Zhile was taken aback.

This morning, he was convinced that An An was someone else’s child and wanted to take him to the police station. But after everything that happened at noon, he started to have doubts.

What if…

He thought, what if this really was his child?

The idea made his hands tremble slightly, his heart pounding uncontrollably.

Looking at the hospital building nearby.

A bold thought suddenly popped into his mind.

After all… it was so close.

What if he got a blood test and did a paternity test?
