I transmigrated into an S-rank scumbag villain chapter 27

* * *

“Don’t touch it. You’re allergic.”

…What?

The fact that the hand’s owner was Cha Rui didn’t shock me nearly as much as the fact that Seo Inho apparently has a peach allergy.

And here I was, the only fruit I bothered to eat was peaches.

The thought that I wouldn’t be able to eat peaches for the rest of my life left my body frozen like a stone statue.

Just then, Cha Rui glanced around briefly, then walked off somewhere.

Soon enough, he started picking fruit from a tree using a knife, and came back with an armful, dropping them right into my arms.

A sweet aroma wafted up to my nose.

“Mango?”

The sight of those bright yellow mangoes oddly made my mouth water.

I’d never tasted them before, considering how expensive they were, so why was I suddenly craving them?

“Hyung, it’s raining.”

Woo Jaehyun, who had been watching us with a cold, indifferent gaze, reached his hand toward the sky to check.

I tilted my head up as well, and sure enough, raindrops started falling one by one.

Then, in an instant, it turned into a downpour.

Ah… refreshing.

I couldn’t even remember the last time I’d been caught in the rain like this.

I closed my eyes, letting the cool rain wash over me, but the rain only seemed to grow heavier by the second.

Soon, it was pouring so hard that the drops stung my skin.

As I stood there, briefly stunned by how quickly it escalated, Woo Jaehyun suddenly grabbed my wrist and yanked me along.

“My mangoes!”

Even as I was being dragged, I held onto the mangoes tightly, afraid I’d drop them.

That’s when, as if it appeared out of thin air, a large cave came into view.

In that short time, Woo Jaehyun had apparently already spotted it.

“Let’s take cover over there.”

“Uh… yeah, okay.”

Wait, where’s Cha Rui?

I whipped my head around, worried he might’ve fallen behind, but my concern was pointless.

Cha Rui was stuck to my back, practically breathing down my neck.

Just yesterday, this guy growled anytime I got near him, but now the distance between us had practically vanished.

“……”

But that didn’t mean the atmosphere had lightened up.

His eyes, cold as ice, stayed fixed on me, expression unreadable.

I couldn’t tell what he was thinking at all.

Feeling awkward, I avoided his gaze and looked up at the sky, where rain poured down as if the clouds had holes punched through them.

The rain swayed wildly, carried by the wind.

“Does it usually pour this suddenly?”

“Looks like it’ll pass quickly.”

Woo Jaehyun casually brushed the water off his shoulders, then started gathering nearby twigs and lighting a fire.

His movements were clumsy.

Maybe it was because he’s younger than me?

It was so obvious this was his first time trying something like this that I couldn’t help but feel a little bad for him.

Normally, these S-Rank guys were revered, but right now, both of them looked like drenched rats.

“Here, dry off with this.”

Unable to watch anymore, I pulled towels from my item pouch and handed them over.

Cha Rui took his without a word, but Woo Jaehyun looked up at me with a teasing grin.

“Never seen anyone carry towels in an item pouch before.”

“If you don’t want it, give it back.”

But the moment I reached out, Woo Jaehyun quickly started rubbing his hair with the towel, as if that never happened.

Do Soohyuk had teased me about the towels too — was carrying them really that weird?

The temperature dropped sharply, sending a chill down my spine.

After some thought, I pulled out paper cups and instant coffee.

Cha Rui looked a little surprised, but I ignored him.

He was going to drink it anyway.

As I sipped coffee, hunched over, my eyes drifted across the cave walls—and I froze.

“Look at that.”

Following my gesture, both of them turned their attention to where I was pointing.

On the cave wall, a geometric symbol stood out, drawn in what looked like white paint.

An inverted triangle sat at the center, encircled by a ring.

It was obviously ancient.

Definitely not something formed naturally — it was intentional.

“That didn’t happen on its own.”

As if reading my mind, Woo Jaehyun approached the wall, taking a sip of coffee as he inspected the symbol.

I could sense the curiosity sparking in his eyes as he studied it.

I shifted my gaze, staring into the pitch-black depths of the cave.

Was someone there?

Maybe it was just my imagination, but the thought sent a chill through me.

I stepped quietly deeper into the cave, hearing footsteps crunching behind me.

I can’t see anything.

Thanks to the gloomy weather, the inside of the cave felt even darker and more ominous.

The deeper I went, the more hesitant my steps became.

This place was entirely different from the moonlit desert outside.

Chirp.

Suddenly, Chirpy crawled out from under my clothes and climbed onto my head.

As the little bird curled up and trembled, it began to emit a soft glow—before bursting into a blinding light like the sun itself, illuminating the entire cave.

Whoa….

“Not bad. Guess Chirpy has his uses.”

I patted its back affectionately, and the bird shone even brighter, radiating colorful light so vivid it hurt my eyes.

“Must really like you, hyung.”

Woo Jaehyun chuckled, saying he hadn’t known Chirpy had such abilities.

Judging by how well the bird had hidden its powers, Chirpy must’ve really hated Woo Jaehyun.

Relying on Chirpy’s light, we walked for about five minutes before an awful stench hit us.

It was so putrid my face twisted in disgust.

“What is that smell?”

It was like a mixture of wet fur and rotting corpses.

I looked around, trying to locate the source, when I stumbled over something with a crack sound.

I nearly fell face-first, but my body suddenly froze midair.

Both Cha Rui and Woo Jaehyun had grabbed my arms in the blink of an eye.

“Let’s stop here, yeah?”

“Looks like the rain’s stopped.”

They spoke at the same time, as if they’d rehearsed it.

What the… I suddenly felt like the annoying character holding everyone back.

It was clear neither of them trusted me to go deeper inside.

Awkwardly, I straightened up and nodded.

I didn’t feel great about leaving, but Cha Rui’s eyes screamed he’d drag me out by force if necessary, so I had no choice but to turn back.

We left the cave and started walking through the damp forest again when—

“There’s another mark here.”

The same symbol we saw in the cave was carved into a large tree.

But this time, it was crudely etched with sharp tools, the craftsmanship sloppy.

Could it… be the same person?

Whizz—!

As I ran my fingers along the carving, a sharp gust sliced through the air.

I instinctively turned my head — Chirpy was already fluttering near my face.

Ping!

“…What the—”

Something bounced off a glowing shield and clattered to the ground.

Looking closer, I saw it was an intricately crafted wooden arrow — tipped with poison.

Chirp! Chirp chirp!

Chirpy circled above my head, chirping in warning.

Before I realized it, figures emerged from the bushes — at least thirty of them.

Are these… the ‘ghosts’ that guy with the horn-rimmed glasses mentioned?

All of them had long, pitch-black hair flowing down to their waists, faces painted stark white.

They were clearly natives of this land.

Swallowing hard, I stared at the arrows pointed at me.

There were so many of them — if they wanted to kill me, they easily could’ve.

So why only one arrow to my shoulder?

I narrowed my eyes, analyzing the situation when Woo Jaehyun and Cha Rui silently stepped in front of me.

I hadn’t even noticed when, but both of them now held swords that clearly weren’t ordinary.

Is he serious?

Even if it’s an S-rank weapon, one arrow to the head and it’s game over.

“Both of you, put those away.”

I whispered quietly to the two of them, keeping an eye on the natives.

I wasn’t sure why, but it didn’t seem like they were planning to kill us just yet.

If they were, there’d be no reason for this tense standoff.

But if we showed any hostility, no one knew what might happen.

If I’d known this was coming, I would’ve at least worn some armor.

Too late for regrets now.

“What are you going to do, hyung?”

“What do you mean? We do what they want.”

Woo Jaehyun didn’t look happy about it, but at my urging, he reluctantly put away his weapon.

On the other hand, Cha Rui looked like he had no intention of putting his sword down.

Seriously…

In the end, I shoved Cha Rui to the side and, making a show of it, brought my wrists together and walked forward.

I was showing I’d surrender quietly without resistance.

Both of them looked visibly flustered, but with the natives watching, they couldn’t act rashly.

“Chirp, if things go bad, run.”

He was an S-rank spirit—there’s no way regular people could catch him—but still, I warned him just in case.

As if understanding my words, a faint mist swayed left and right beside me.

Rustle.

That’s when it happened.

A man who had been cleverly hiding among the crowd stepped forward.

He was at least a head taller than me, with his eyes darkly painted, unlike the other natives.

Maybe it was the makeup, but his gaze felt unnaturally sharp, honed like a blade.

That must be the leader.

The man who looked like the leader stared at me with an odd expression, then beckoned with a single finger.

Another arrow flew towards me, struck my barrier, and fell harmlessly to the ground.

The leader bared his blackened teeth in a wide grin, clearly amused by the sight.

Something feels off…

The thought barely crossed my mind when the leader strode toward me, reaching out his hand.

The two beside me tensed, ready to lunge, but I instinctively grabbed their arms to calm them down.

If possible, I’d really like to avoid dying with an arrow through my skull.
